OZMAFIA!! is a fantastical otome VN that spells its premise out in its name: the characters of the Wizard of Oz are mafiosi now. Why? Who cares! It’s dramatic! The Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man are all human and now they’re hot! They shoot guns! Other characters from fairy tales are there, too! (In the header image above, from left to right, is the Lion, the Tin Man, Little Red Riding Hood, and (ostensibly) the Big Bad Wolf).
It’s very… light fare, for the most part - to the point of ridiculousness, sometimes. While the story gets fully explained later (MUCH later) on, the vast majority of it is usual dating sim stuff. There’s nothing crazy out of the ordinary for this genre - the protag is very silly, not that bright, and is infantilized by most of the cast, and the romance options are, on the whole, less rapey than usual. The art is nice and the coloring style is nice, and I appreciated how pretty much everyone, even bit characters, had portraits.
The revelations brought about by the end game were interesting, but there’s just too much fluff to get to it. I enjoyed my time with it, though I’m glad it’s over. It’s a bit of a weird one, and it’s somewhat shy of making it onto my VN Masterpost.
This is kind of a short review for a long game, but when I’m feeling ‘eh’ about something, it’s hard to write about it - and I’m under a decent amount of stress right now. Doing an online class on top of working full time on top of freelance editing is no joke… but I DID use my editing advance to buy ten whole games from the top of my wishlist, so there’s that. I just gotta make it through November.

Oh, it’s idled! Next to the 99 hr, it reads ‘~25 actual’, which is the estimated for real playtime.
It’s a long game… but I will never be free of my idling ways.

I again saw that huge game length in VN, and thought this time I won’t miss with super-extrmely-long-game. And I missed info about actual gameplay :joy:
I think OZMAFIA!! would work well for you in that, while there’s a lot of CONTENT, the actual scene lengths themselves are pretty short. That keeps things moving along at a decent clip, and feels more like eating a bunch of things rather than one big huge thing.
Is it anywhere like Eden*? I was barely able to beat it, even when scenes were quire short.
Eden* was a really slow, melancholy game, and I don’t think they’re very similar. OZMAFIA is really quite silly, to the point where you might roll your eyes from time to time.
I will add it to observed list, and wait till it’s in bundle at some point :D

It is going SWIMMINGLY. I love Kiryu, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Majima. He’s amazing. I’m also finding I like his substories a little bit more. I’m doing the one about rescuing a girl from a cult right now
