I played the games in this series out of order, 3 -> 2-> 1. After finishing the series, I can say that the quality in the games improved with time: the first is the weakest one, and the story gets better with the following two.

In my Challenge me I was first supposed to play Memoria, but luckily before starting it I found out that this is the prequel to that.
The story is good and I like the art a lot. The puzzles after the first chapters were too difficult for me, so I had to resolve them with the help of a guide. I wished there were clues to help with what to do.
The ending was kinda sad, damn it. I read that Memoria starts from the ending of Chains of Satinav, so I will play it sooner or later.

I absolutely loved it. Even more that Cinders, yes!!! The story appealed more to me, I liked all the characters. The art and the backgrounds with their animations, are beautiful just as in Cinders. It's a little shorter and it was easier for me to get all the ending variants.
Though, there is one big bad thing about it and I'm talking about the bugs!!!! I stumbled upon many MANY M A N Y crash-inducing bugs. I read that it happens to some people but we do not know the reason (probably it's Windows fault?) and it's a shame since this game was released more than a year ago :( Not only that, but in the bug reporting thread the reply of the devs was to uninstall and reinstall the game when it happened :(
Unfortunately, on my end everything was fine and the drivers updated, and yet this particular game just kept crashing. I ended up saving every 5 minutes and having to restart it countless times to be able to finish it. If I didn't like the story so much I would have rage-quitted. I reckon now that maybe I should have tried this on a different pc.
I definitely recommend it, but it's impossible to predict whether these mysterious bugs will happen to you.

This isn't bad, it's just an acceptable vn.
The story is interesting enough but I wish that the creators had taken advantage of the engine and tried to do something more true to what happens in the game. I mean, in the game, whoever dies playing it is supposed to die irl, I'm not asking for us all to get killed lol. They could have made the game difficult to access/start as in the story, and maybe impossible to access after a bad ending.
I reached the true ending after dying three times, so it's not that difficult to beat on your own as I had read.
Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart - BAD END
- Solstice
The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav
Well I guess I was lucky with Solstice, didn’t stumble across the bugs. But then again I didn’t like it more then Cinders. Maybe it has something to do with that? ;) :D
Man, I still gotta play the Nightmare HOGs, they’re waiting and waiting. But one day…!
Bad end. See above. Also waiting for me :D
But I played Chains of Satinav - and Memoria. I just dunno what to think off them. I liked them - the first one better then the second but that is just because of the story. Still, I don’t think I would go back to playing either one. Well, that’s just me :)
Have a great time!
Happy backlog killing :)
