Update One Hundred and Fifteen: 20 January 2017
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
I feel like such a putz for wimping out on another game (two in a row! A new record!) but I’m just not feeling this game. I thought it was a more point-and-clicky kind of game, but it turned out to be pretty light on story and straight up puzzles and had more in common with a title like Ori or Trine where a lot of the gameplay is movement-based challenges/timing challenges, and the issue there is these controls are FAR too clunky to make that enjoyable. Your little tree buddy, Teku, has the grace of a tractor-trailer, and playing this is the opposite of a joy.
I’m two sessions in and, while the game is gorgeous, I’m finding myself hesitating to pick it up again. I’ve learned my lesson about what that means, so I’m shelving this. I’m taking a hit on my achievement percentage, but I’ll recover it soon. I waffled back and forth debating whether to keep this as unfinished or move it to won’t play - but playing this really did feel like a chore. Maybe if we ever have a monthly challenge about dipping into our ‘won’t play’s, but until then…
Next up: I could use a pick me up and a warm blanket. What better to play than a hidden object game?
See you soon!
I actually ended up getting almost all the achievements for Candle, but it was very much a trial-and-error kind of ordeal the entire time; trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t and then actually pulling off the right moves once I understood what to do. The game is gorgeous to look at though, and I love puzzle-platformers, so I think that’s what got me through in the end ^^
I’m not big on hidden-object games, but I hope it’s fun! You need a fun game right now :)
I refunded Candle because the same things.
It just was not fun at all…
Sorry to hear about your recent misfortunes…good luck with the next couple of games :)
Thank you, Vito c: I have pretty decent hopes for the next two games - even if they’re just all right, that’s good enough for me!
