I usually write a monthly post, but they’ve grown too much lately. My last post was excessively big. So, from now on, I’ll try to write shorter posts every 15 days or so, focused on fewer games or a single challenge.
My ABC Challenge so far:
For some weird reason, I’ve been doing really well in the 2 column. I didn’t plan to play in any specific order, I’m just playing as I see fit.
About the games:
1993: This game was hard. Really hard. The drill boss was a nightmare. I hate games that you need to restart from the beginning after each death. There is an achievement for dying only 42 times. Needless to say that I failed miserably. xD HLTB says that the main story takes only ~2h. Maybe for a really, really good players, but for us, the mere mortals, it takes a lot more time (and patience).
Geometry Dash: Pretty much like Dashy Square, the devs (both seem very similar, prob by the same people, not sure tho) were kind enough to provide a noob mode. This one seems even harder. I could barely finish the first level, unlike Dashy Square, where I managed to reach lvl 4, iirc. I marked as beaten because I played every level in noob mode, where instead of starting from the beginning, the game saves your last position. It’s still hard. I died around 200x per level.
Offspring Fling: This game is really cute. It’s a puzzle/platformer about a mother that needs to save all her children. you can only carry a few at a time, since every time you pick up one of them, you get slower and heavier, making jumping impossible. Therefore, you need to plan your actions. Most of the achievements are about finishing the levels really fast. It seems great for speenrun and terrible for completionists. Overall, a great story and execution.
Serafina’s Crown: I didn’t liked this VN. The story is pretty boring, the character development is awful and I didn’t like the art at all. The debate minigame is completely dull and uninteresting. Just pick the highest number when the arrow points up and the lowest and it points down. It’s that stupid. :/
Zenohell: It’s a decent (and quick) Shoot ‘Em Up. Not much to say. It has 5-6 missions. 2 modes, but I only played arcade. There are achievements for finishing with each of the spaceships. Should not be hard to 100%, I just don’t care.
I’ve been played other bigger games too, but as I said, I’ll talk about them later, at the end of the month.
On a personal note, I’ve been doing some carpentry lately. I’ve acumulated a bunch of books in the last few years and I needed a bookcase, but the ones being sold around here were very either very simple or very expensive. So I had one of those “I bet I can do build one easily for a fraction of the money” moments. There is a reason they are usually followed by regrets. xD
I’ve spent the last 2 weekends cutting, shaping, sanding, varnishing and painting wood blanks. I’ll probably have to ask my brother for help soon to help me assemble it, since it’s 2-man job. Then, 1 extra coat of paint and it should be finished. I’ll probably need to add some wall hooks or something like that to keep it from warping.
That’s all for now. I’ll probably still do a wrap-up post at the end of the month. This post should help to keep my wrap-up post short. At least, I hope so. xD
Congrats on your abc work! If you keep that up, you know the alphabet by the end of the year! applaud :D :P
But wow, that’s cool! Building your own bookshelf! Think about your cat, while doing it ;)
Will we see a pic of the finished thing? Yeah, I am aware it probably will not look smooth as fuc…. but that’s ok for first attempts :)
Hope your books will like it! <3
Thanks! I’ll try to take some pictures. It should be finished by the end of the month, so I’ll probably post some pictures in my wrap-up post. :)
I’m sure they’ll like it better than staying on the ground. xD
Well you could always build a shelf out of books. But never dare take on out to read, that would make the whole thing collapse :D
Looking forward to the pic :)
Good to know that I am not the only one with those compulsive “ I bet I can do it” moments.
Would be nice if you had some carpenter ants to come over and think : I bet I can ruin this”
Not sure you got those ants there
Those moments are glorious, at least before you actually decide to start. xD
We have termites here, but I’m not only varnishing, but also painting it, so I think I’ll be fine. I hope.
