Update Three Hundred and Thirty-Five: 13 October 2019
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Hee hee! It’s been a while since we’ve had a genuine, certified, not a bug, just me posting twice in a row.
Anyway, short game gets short review: Strange Telephone is another odd, dreamlike, mystifying game in the vein of Dream Diary whose mystique I completely eviscerate by just looking up guides (thanks, walkthrough king!).
In it, you play a young woman connected to a sentient flying phone trapped in a strange series of micro-worlds. You explore new worlds by entering in phone numbers, finding items, and putting together solutions to strange abstract puzzles.
Its interface is a little bit clunky, and its aesthetic is, perhaps, TOO reminiscent of Dream Diary, and there’s little story to speak of… but it was an interesting game to futz around with for a little while - and to 100%!
Next up: Okay, okay, slightly longer game this time
See you soon!
So these devs just keep doing their thing, huh? Their previous game, Dreaming Sarah, is also a… Yume-nikki-like, I guess you could call it.
I’ve never heard of Strange Telephone but I could tell right away it was the same devs as Dreaming Sarah!
Oh, they did Dreaming Sarah? Ha! Yeah, it’s in the same vein.
Hold up. I was wrong. It’s not the same dev. I have a full-blown Mandela case right about now, and I’m freaking out. Could’ve sworn I got the coupon for Telephone for owning Dreaming Mary.
