Update One Hundred and Eighty-Seven: 16 June 2018
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
BLAEO user stef was right - this game WAS fun! Another Goosebumps-like VN, but this one surpasses something like Sound of Drop by being more streamlined and focused. Is it spectacular? No, but it didn’t have to be - it was a fun little romp where you die a bunch of times until you don’t!
You play as, of course, an unassuming high school student whose friend dies while playing a mysterious mobile game. You attempt to play the mobile game to investigate his death, and unravel its secrets in the process. There’s some interesting little turns and the story resolved in a way I didn’t quite see coming, so I enjoyed myself!
I enjoyed myself so much that, you know, I think I’m going to add it to my Visual Novel Masterpost. It’s writing isn’t spectacular, but the overall experience is good, and its popcorn-flick nature and short playtime would certainly be appealling to people who just want to play a goofy-silly-“scary” VN.
Next up: Looks like the tidal wave of short games is continuing - the original Carpe Diem was literally ten minutes long. How will it expand? Find out obnoxiously soon!
See you soon!
Glad you liked it!
so first game in awhile I should check out is what I’m getting from this…
fun fun :3
I haven’t been having much luck with games lately, that’s true… sometimes it gets into slumps like this! (Though I did like Tales of Cosmos!)
I don’t like it when I have streaks of games I didn’t enjoy very much - not because I played a lot of games that weren’t fun, but because I don’t want to come off as so pessimistic and negative. ‘No, don’t play this, no, not worth it, no, no.’ I gotta tell the truth, though!
