Update One Hundred and Forty-Two: 18 March 2018
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
I’m going to keep this one short because I am in a terrible, awful, really pissed mood and I have no one to blame about it but myself. (Note to friends: Do not file government paperwork while you’re distracted and irritated)
This hidden object game felt very much on the long side, and not in the good way. I appreciated its attention to storytelling, even though it was kind of stilted and not super genuine. Artifex Mundi Lady makes a return, and that helped. There was a handful of callbacks to the previous two Nightmares from the Deep games, though I’m not super clear on how it all fits together.
I really enjoyed playing so many Artifex Mundi games that I can kind of chart its growth as a publisher, and this entry would certainly land as its moving into its upswing.
Next up: I need a pick me up. So, what am I going to play?
See you soon!
Uh-oh…sounds ominous. I hope it wasn’t your taxes!
I played Davy Jones 3 back in late-2015, so I can’t quite recall if I liked it, but I think I enjoyed it, and then went back and played #1 and 2 with the kids. I could be mis-remembering, though.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about Everything! Kind of an interesting-looking concept for a game. I wonder how the execution goes, and if it jives with you.
Oh, no, nothing quite so bad - I fucked up claiming two weeks’ worth of unemployment benefits and accidentally disqualified myself to claim benefits for those two weeks. I’m going to call tomorrow to see if I can get those reversed.
Aww, it’d be nice to play this one again with your kids bc it centers all around parents and their kids. Do your best Davy Jones voice!
Me, too! I need to find a quiet time to play it - it’s having a difficult time running on my computer as it is. I’ll have to finagle with it.
