I finished SeaBed this morning before work. Today went on to be unbelievably stressful, so I’m going to keep it brief:
This is a weird game. It’s unbelievably slow, very ponderous, and even by the end either I don’t get what happened, or what happened was just really underwhelming. The sprites and CGs are okay, but worse than I was expecting/am used to in VNs in this kind of category. Plus, the fucking artist clearly has never seen women wear clothing, because besides the eyerollingly standard boobsocked shirts, this motherfucker drew nearly every sprite wearing a skirt or a dress looking like the girl wearing it like wedgied her dress between her legs and is standing there with the fabric clenched between her thighs. Is this a fetish I never encountered before? Is it really THAT important to see her pelvic bone? What is the deal here?
Each chapter is shorter than the one before it, which is good because if that weren’t the case I would’ve dropped it sometime in chapter one. The prologue is ridiculously long. Everything is well written, and there are some parts that are evocative and things that are interesting. Some of the concepts are really cool, too! It just… never GOES anywhere. It never culminates in a kind of meditation on what it means to love and let go, or the power and danger of memories. It just… is.
It’s way too long, is what it is.

There’s a fetish for everything, so it is a fetish to someone at least I guess. But to be honest, I had trouble understanding what you meant so I went and checked some screenshots.

And if I understand right, it’s that weird triangle shape we see right? Well, it’s not that great, but the art in general seems kind of clumsy so I’d say it fits.
Anyway, you really spent 143 hours on the game? That’s not what I call short :D
It’s surprisingly hard to find screenshots of the sprites, considering how long you spend looking at them. It’s small, but here is Mayuko’s sprite, one of the main offenders.
It’s clumsy, yeah, but… never before have I seen clumsy art make that mistake so consistently. It drove me bananas.
Yeah yeah… u kno me… the idle queen…. I’d say I spent more like 15 hours actively reading it? Maybe twenty? It was VERY spread out, though
But it might not be a mistake and just be the artist fetish as you said!
The way it’s drawn, it kinda looks like a hot pants but longer. Pretty weird indeed.
