Update One Hundred and Twenty-One: 1 February 2018

BLAEO user and secret santa MouseWithBeer got me Hidden Folks for Christmas. Thank you again, Mouse!

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this game, and my experiences were a little less warm than the others. I thought it was okay! All the sound effects being mouth sounds got on my nerves relatively quickly, so I muted the game.

These maps are HUGE and there are tons of moving parts. It’s a game that seems small at first but has a HUGE crew behind it - the ‘staff roll’ screen is only a little smaller than some of the mid-size maps you hunt through. (Speaking of the staff roll screen, I think that it was adorable they counted software like slack amongst their crew, to give the programs a little shout out.)

It’s fun to turn on some tunes and hunt through sprawling maps for the right little guys, and it’s not deeper than that.

Next up: After months of deliberation, complaining to my girlfriend, and struggling hard about what to play, I decided to re-categorize my non-VN backlog to make it easier to choose what to play. I’m going to separate them the same way I’ve separated my wishlist - ‘actively want to play’, ‘kind of want to play’, and ‘don’t super want to play’. I’m going to follow a pattern of 2, 1, 1 pulled from those categories in that order. (There will be a fourth category: games I play through with my girlfriend, that we go through slowly one by one, her choice.)
