August overview
This is just an overview for my backlog progress for August and some quick thoughts on a few games I have played since my last post as my procrastinating studying for tomorrows exam was very successful.
Completed since last post
fault - milestone one (SG win) - I just couldn’t get into this one. Very much an “it’s not you, it’s me” situation.
Quell - fun little puzzle game. My only 2 really really minor complaints about it would be that the level doesn’t reset itself once you die and that there are to many damn submenus to get to a level.
Pixel Puzzles 2: Anime - I finally got around finishing this one after almost a year. It is no secret I love jigsaw puzzles and Decaying Logics games, so yea I liked this one as well and I should really finish all the DLCs I got sitting around for the Ultimate edition of Pixel Puzzles :/
Solstice - The artstyle of this game is absolutely gorgeous. The story was interesting enough thought some parts made me go a bit “WTF”.

89! Take it easy!:)
And hey, you survived Paradise Island ^_~
This bundle is mostly to blame D: But I needed it badly c:
It wasn’t that bad. I have seen way worse, it was just really boring.
5 games already done from the abc list? Nice one!
I feel super stuck at Solstice. Maybe I should ignore the last cheevo and get rid of the think :]
As to Fault: I guess there are games, that just don’t work out. I have a few of them myself. Even if ppl really like them, I somehow don’t. And the other way round. But since taste is an unique thing for everybody, that’s pretty normal :)
Congrats on getting the Puzzle done! I’m feeling with you on completing them for the Ultimate Edition. Haven’t really started with that yet. Seems so huuuuuge to do - also I’m kinda stuck at a big puzzle there and I hate that :D
Have an awesome September!
Happy backlog killing!
Thanks! Hoping to get up to 7 by the end of the week (we will see since there is a new Overwatch competitive season starting) fingers crossed
I have to leave Solstice be for a while after playing almost 13 hours of it over 2 days. I will go back in a week or 2 and 100% it. If you decide to do that as well here is a decent-ish guide, if you haven’t seen it yet.
I am quite deep into Ultimate already, but I still got to finish 8 out of 18 or so DLC I was gifted for Christmas :/ I am hoping to finish them before this Chirstmas since I am not going to be surprised if I get gifted even more of it. It is indeed huge, people bitch so much about the DLC for this game but there really is a ton of content. I am quite decent at puzzle solving and I am at 32% with 270 hours (about 20-30 were idled). Which puzzle are you stuck on?
You too! ^^
Well Overwatch will give the rest a chance to catch up then :D
Ha, that’s exactly the guide I’m working with! Thank you. It’s mostly lack of time atm though. My dad is on vacation and we end up watching lots of Star Trek Enterprise together, so I find no time to play really :D And when I finally think I can sit back and work on it, instead I suddenly prepare monthly themes and such :D
Uhm…. It’s the one with the tibetan puzzles? Flags and houses in mountains and such. I’m really not starting it that often though, because I feel like I can’t “waste” away my time on puzzles, when I have games waiting for me! shock
Which is ridiculous, I know. My brain does stupid things all the time though :D
So let me guess, you’re also working on the monthlies there? I just realized it recently when someone here posted about the monthly puzzle and in total awe I had a look and then… didn’t do it :D
Well it is going to give others about 5 hours of time. All I am going to do is to play 10 games to get a rank(should take about 5 hours) and then leave it be till the next season starts as I don’t really have anyone to play with and I am not a fan of paying competitive alone.
Did you have any issues with it so far? I had 2 things that didn’t work as intended even though I followed the guide. But probably it is just me messing it up
Hope you enjoyed watching it! ^^
I know exactly which one you mean and yes that one is a real pain in the ass, I had trouble with it myself. I wish I had any advice on how to tackle it, but I got nothing except open an full image of it in another monitor.
Which is ridiculous, I know.
It is not actually, I had the exact same feeling before.
I do, I have completed all of them so far (June one took me something like 30 hours, awful awful puzzle D: ) and the only 2 puzzles I have solved the past 2 months were monthlies. I am looking froward to see what is going to be Septembers one tomorrow.
Hmmm thinking about it, I should put Pixel Puzzles Ultimate as the “P” in the next ABC challenge so I can force myself to finally finish all the left over DLC :D
Uh… yeah. No. I’ll have no chance at least in that short amount of time :D
Started just now. One worked out right away (offering to help Lev), the next one is the one where Yani has to be quicker then the doc and both lying to each other. Also I’ll try to get away with Y…. ehm… the woman from the north cough
And then ofc the all ending one. I’m affraid/annoyed by it already. We’ll see how that works out :]
Oh yeah, that is actually a good idea. Somehow I didn’t even think of it. But since I always have the image “open” when I puzzle in RL, it makes sense to do the same here :)
Glad to hear though, I’m not the only one having trouble :D
One reason speaking for doing it, is the possibility to finally get around and listen to audio books. I never find time to do that, unless I puzzle or do something similar mind-not-too-much-occupying ;)
Well, maybe I’ll try next month. IF I can remember :D
Ha, that sounds nice! I forward it! (Also since it will take a looooong time and give others the chance to catch up :D innocent)
Yakone? I went for that ending twice and failed miserably both times. If you manage to get it can you please, please, please write me down step by step instructions? I would owe you a big one. I am wishing you the best of luck! You can do it ^^
Hehe, I actually always listen to podcasts or watch (read: look at it once in a while, when something interesting seems to be happening) something random on my second monitor. I just can not do puzzles in silence, real ones or not.
If I see you around on BLAEO I will send you a reminder :P I will do that ^^ Now I just need to clear the current ABC list c:
Yep, that’s the one!
Uh, step by step. That’ll be difficult, since…. Ok, I’ll try helping out, if I manage! No prob with that :)
Yep, I’m just the same :D
Ah, that’s sweet of you. Maybe I should try and get a mouse as steam friend! ;) <3
Yay, I hope you will! ^^
You are too slow, a mouse is already trying to friend you :P
How did I never see that one before. I will try later today, thanks!
I got desperate and asked google and google said: Have a look at the steam discussions :D
Guess I’m right now running out of time, so it has to wait till this evening to get tested ;)
18 completed games in a month is amazing! Congrats! :)
It is actually 31 :P Thank you! I am not gonna lie, I am a little bit proud of myself that I managed that.
Even bigger Congratulations then!
An even bigger thank you! ^^
31 games completed total and 18 SG wins
Great job
Thank you! :D
Well you took SG’s “Get 1 achievement for every day of August” challenge to next level “Finish 1 game for every day of August” :P
Ha! I didn’t even realise that. Now I wonder if I can do the same for September as well :D
Good luck :D
Thank you! :D Not sure if I will be able tho, since I got some pretty big games coming up.
What an epic progress. Massive congratulations :) I agree with Quell’s not-so-friendly way to start just one puzzle. Way too much unnecessary clicking.
Thank you! ^^ Makes me wonder if it used to be a mobile game before, because I really don’t understand why would they make such UI otherwise.
I just did a quick search and the game has been released on 2015 on Steam whereas it’s 2010 on Android according to Wiki. So yea it’s definitely a mobile port.
Thank you for doing what I was to lazy to do! The UI does make sense then yea.
Plays way better on mobile, like most of the initially touch interface games. But only two hours to complete the game? Makes me wonder if it’s the same amount of content in the Steam release or if I’m just stupid
Might be better, but I hate gaming on mobile so I am fine with it. 2 and half actually (HLTB says thats for the main story and then 5 for completionist which doesn’t make sense), but I if I got stuck I helped myself with a guide and I also used the guide for the gems I didn’t manage to find on my own while solving levels. I have no idea if it has less content or not tho.
Ah, yeah, guides would definitely speed things up on these kinds of games. I suspect it’s pretty much the same game content wise. They’re probably just running the code through a different compiler with some switches for interface and whatnot.
I’m curious though, which aspects of mobile gaming do you hate? I can understand “hating” the prevalent f2p model with boundless micro transaction and slow progress but I find touch interface far superior to other input methods in a couple of cases, like this game and things like Kindom Rush.
It is not the games itself, what I hate is:
- screen size, it is too small (and I have a Note 3 which is huge)
- I don’t find holding a phone for a longer period of time comfortable, it gets too hot and my hands start hurting (I have really tiny hands and once again my phone is huge)
- I hate cluttering my phone up with non necessary things. I have exactly 24 apps on my phone right now, default android ones included.
- I just prefer using mouse and keyboard as I find it way more accurate.
Heh, I actually played Kingdom Rush on PC and liked it, but I would never play it on a phone.
Ah ok. I’ve mostly been playing on my Shield Tablet which is 8” at least and I’ve never really been bothered about screen size as long as they have adequate resolution for the job. I can imagine 5” being a wee bit too small for something like Kingdom Rush but I’ve never actually tried it out on my phone. I have a faint memory of thinking the interface could have been done better when playing Shadowrun on my old Nexus phone but this may not be connected to resolution at all. For something like Quell though I’d imagine just about any device able to actually run the game having a screen good enough for the job.
MAYNNE
you’ve completed nearly as many games this month than I have in total asfk
Well to be fair most of the games I have completed were quite short ones (only 4 +10 hours ones), but yea I am quite proud of my self that I have managed to clear so much of my backlog. Hopefully I can do even better next month as this didn’t even do a dent (I went up 1% in the completed statistic)
