What would a new year be without it being christened by a patented TsuperTsundere Double Post: Not A Bug But A Feature! We gettin it in early, you guys -
—because I just got my first big stinker of the year! Baobab’s Mausoleum is a game that purports to be weird - and it is! It’s just weird! Weird to the point of just being dumb.
There are glimmers of something interesting, something worthwhile, some spark of That Somethin’… but it’s lost in the soup of just really poor writing and unfocused, meandering gameplay. Funnily enough, the game is actually unwinnable without cribbing off someone’s work - two thirds of the way through the game, you have to go on the developer’s website to find a code to enter… and the website doesn’t exist anymore! What game design!
The chapter immediately after that is like a puzzle dungeon thing and I was like u kno what I love myself too much fuck this game. I’ll take the achievement hit - I just need to stop playing.

Sweet 2 posts, I dont typically read reviews unless I’m in the mood to laugh at awful attempts to make you not buy the game. But very enjoyable to read yours and see your thoughts especially when I’ve played/watched it myself to see a different view to mine like that nameless vn you read. I even said it was one of my favourites to own so seeing that you didn’t take to it as well was a breath of fresh air so to say

One hit, one miss, bumpy start to the year. On the other hand…at least you got the cr*p right out of the way at the beginning of the year! :)
It’s pretty similar honestly to the beginning of last year - my first completed game last year I really ended up not liking. Ah, well. It be like that sometimes!
I found my SG wins to be pretty hit or miss, but my expectations are thru the floor because hey! Free games!
