Update Two Hundred and Twelve: 15 August 2018
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
I think I’ve finally experienced in Leaving Lyndow what most people think of when they hear ‘walking simulators’ and go “they’re dumb.”
Nice but not really spectacular or otherwise special level design? Check. Look at stuff that has precious little point to experience? Check. Some quirky little minigames? Check. Environmental/pieced out storytelling that… just… kind of is, without any real point to it? Check.
A mediocre entry into the genre that has a few unfortunate glitches. I had a few text boxes that wouldn’t go away, and when I entered the last section my character clipped through the ground and fell under the world with no way to return except to relaunch the game.
Give this a pass, folks.
edit:
Actually, there is ONE thing this game was good for…
Exactly 50% of my library is 100% cleared! I feel accomplished c:
Next up: I need to relax…
See you soon!
Catch a falling star… fun for about 10 minutes, then literally nothing else gets added to the gameplay and you grind to get it done.
I’m beginning to notice that… I have an online class tonight that I have trouble focusing in, so hopefully playing this on the side helps keep me more focused, giving me enough to do with my hands.
Congrats on the 50%! :)
Shame on Leaving Lyndow, the game looks so pretty :(
Thank you!
It IS pretty, just… not very big or very worthwhile.
Hmm, Leaving Lyndow is on my wishlist. I even almost picked it up when it was on sale for about a dollar IIRC. I guess I’ll lower my expectations.
same here
You know, a dollar isn’t asking too much from it. And it might just happen that because your expectations are lowered, you’ll like it more!
Yeah, I’ll probably pick it up at some point.
I’ve heard similar things from several people, yet I’ve still been interested because it looks so cosy and quaint and I love foresty things. I feel like at this point I’m just being naïve, might give it a pass after all.
Congrats on 50% that’s super awesome. :)
I wouldn’t say that in the least! If you’re still interested, then that means something about the game calls out to you! I mean, hell, play it anyway!
I am pretty jealous of that blue ratio 0.0 . Unfortunately everything in our backlog cannot be gems, but at least this one gave you a milestone. Looking forward to your next post. ^_^
Also it has been a while since I have been here, but did you/Madison ever get to beating Octopath Traveler? Was hoping to read your review. :)
Hello! I am still working on Octopath Traveler. It is a big game! But I like it very much. Haven’t finished everyone’s story arcs yet (I’ve finished 3) but apparently there is end-game content after all of THAT is done– and I’ve already been playing for 100+ hours!
Thank you very much for replying! ^_^ I’m glad to here there is so much content, I was a little worried it would be a shorter game, especially with all the different character paths. I certainly look forward to getting this game… eventually :3
50% is super awesome! <3
Thank you!
The number said 50% for the past couple games, but I wanted to wait for the graphic to be exactly 50%. Here’s to many more!
