Update Two Hundred and Sixteen: 22 August 2018
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Ehh…..
To be weird is to have atmosphere, and atmosphere is what makes the it-game - you have it, or you don’t. Some things can get away without having atmosphere, and have charm or heart or humor or nice asses or whatever it takes to make up for it being slightly out of step. But when you’re going for oddity, for metaphor, for something lasting and impacting, ya gotta have it.
SOLITUNE doesn’t.
It’s very short, its metaphor is both too obvious and too hazy, and everything it presented just elicited in me a ‘…. so?’ The music is… eh… and while the art, animation, and set design were lovely, there just wasn’t enough to sustain it into anything.
(Teeny update: the developer of the Edgelands got back to me and helped me get the last two achievements, so that game is completed!)
Next up: Weird! August! Weird! August! Weird! August!
See you soon!
