☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

You know, I minored in screenwriting in college, and playing this game took me right back to class time spent watching inscrutable foreign films, in black and white with big blocky subtitles (if they were lowbrow enough to even have dialogue, of course) (oh god I had to sit through La Jette THREE time for three separate classes). I was irritated, bored, and puzzled then, and I’m irritated, bored, and puzzled now.

I’m glad My Name is You exists, but I wasn’t happy to play it. Does that make sense?

You play as a young man named You, which, he repeatedly states, is the only unusual thing about him. The narrative is a weird, semi-dreamlike, semi-real jumble that is kind of heightened by the clunky translation. There’s the first, like, twenty-five percent of an interesting, compelling kind of story - a young man with an odd name, a mysterious illness that plagues not just him but the people around him. It just goes nowhere. There’s around fourteen endings, and zero answers, and maybe only a handful of interesting questions.

I ended up getting this in a bundle and keeping it, and I’m glad I didn’t go out and buy it on its own.

Next up: I’m returning to CLANNAD once again with -

See you soon!

Whew, judging from the steam page alone, this game looks really weird and not that enjoyable. But at least one game less in the backlog!

Yeah…. it’s… very weird. You’re not missing anything - your backlog has missed this bullet!

Hello there, fellow writer! I majored in screenwriting and creative writing at university :o
And you’re gonna hate me for this, but I love La Jette :D

tsupertsundere

I don’t hate you! I did like it, at first… kind of…. it had some interesting ideas but I wasn’t a huge fan of how some of them was executed. And then I had to watch it two more times. I brought it up to my favorite screenwriting professor and he said ‘yeah, we had to change it up, we had people watching Amelie in like three different classes’ and I was like bitch I’d sit through Amelie a billion times it’s a cute ass fuckin film.

Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, a walking sim/adventure-y Telltaley game taking an inspiration from Amelie would be fun as hell.

Edit: my girlfriend just looked it up and La Jette was only 28 minutes long and I would have BET MONEY it was at least three times that length.

ty I am removing this from my wishlist, I am trying to shorten it a lot by removing as much as possible :D

you’re welcome! I do love your wishlist - a little before Christmas I went through it to fill in anything I might have missed. Your wishlist added about twenty titles to mine! I’m glad we can help each other out c:

Wow, 8 games is 12 days (since I last visited) - that’s mighty impressive! I’ve read up on few that stood out. Also the fact that you always document them so diligently & meticulously - wow x2. You must have some time bending device XD
Even though some were not to your liking - congrats! :)

I was absolutely aghast and had to go back and check - you’re right! It really was 8 games in 12 days. I had no idea, holy shit.
This is a… little ‘silver lining’ of unfortunately still being unemployed, I suppose - more… time for gaming! Yaay… (Though that will hopefully change soon - I’ve signed up with a staffing agency).
It’s gotten to be a habit with me - I don’t let myself pick what next game I play until I’ve already pretty much finished the post, which is also great incentive. Now I look forward to doing them c: They’re real fun for me.

Thank you! I’ll be being quiet for a bit - these games I’m playing are on the longer side. I’m hoooping we’ll finish Okami this week, though c:
