I’m going to keep this short this evening - I’m in kind of a bad mood and the game really is just so unspeakably average there’s nothing really to say about it.
Bad mood: For those who don’t know, I have blue hair. I hadn’t bleached my roots in a long, long, long time (I have naturally dark hair, so it needs to be bleached to put color on top) so my roots were super long, and there wasn’t enough bleach, apparently, so when I put blue on and washed my hair… a good quarter of my hair came out a really bad, oxidized copper color. Part of the dark brown hair simply hadn’t lightened enough to take the color the right way. I scrambled to fix it, using a dye-depositing conditioner I have. I mitigated some of it, but it’s still not great. It’s the first time in more than four years of dyeing my hair that it’s come out this poorly, and it’s my own damn fault for waiting so long. My hair is important to me (I get a lot of compliments and it also distracts from my weird face) and to have it turn out bad is a big hit to my self-esteem. Worse comes to worse I’ll go to a professional stylist to get it fixed up - though it’ll hurt my wallet -_-
Okay actual game time: It has nearly nothing to do with Halloween or spookiness in general, Once Upon An All Hallow’s Eve is short, free otome game where you romance one of three brothers. It does things neither well nor poorly, and I’d really only recommend it for a quick 100% achievements boost. There’s spelling errors, but the art is nice. It bugs me, though, how poorly resized that smaller banner is. Look at that! Look at how squashed the image is. Who did that. Who let that get put up. For shame.
Augh I’m tired and cranky. That’s it for me.
Next up: I need some cute girls kissing to cheer me up. Hopefully I’ll finish off my scavenger hunt with -

But having blue hair is super cool! bounce around The most I dared so far was some violet streaks in dark red/black. Oh, no. Not true! I tried to get white hair once. Failed miserably. My hair is to resistant to work nicely with bleach -.-
So I guess no blue hair for me then ;)

The hair didn’t come out as bad as I thought it would (the conditioner helped a lot) so crisis averted, at least.

Wouldn’t you be able to fix it rather easily by re-doing the whole process though? You know, bleaching the hair again and then applying the color again?
I’ve only ever used black color to dye my hair, so I don’t know, but seems like a simple solution to me ;)
Anyway, here’s a pretty good free halloween-themed game if you’re in a mood for something better than Once Upon All Hallow’s Eve ;) It’s not a VN though.
The problem with bleaching is that it’s very hard on the hair - it’s unhealthy for it and it can lead to really bad damage, turning the hair brittle and frizzy. I keep my hair healthy by only bleaching each ‘section’ of hair once - I’m afraid to put bleach on it again, even if the first time wasn’t strong enough. I think I solved it, though, and I think another round of dye on top will be enough to get the green out.
It’s much easier to go dark than it is to go light.
Also, thank you! I put it on my wishlist and I’ll download it soon. It looks pretty cute! (I am so excited for Halloween)

One time I tried to dip-dye my hair black (I’m blonde). Think Cruella De Vil, but turned sideways. Not a good look O.o
Highway Blossoms looks so cute.. I’m curious to hear what you think about it! I’ve only played 2 VN’s (I think), but if it turns out to be a nice game, I might try it :)

I’m sorry about your hair. I admire it because it must take so much maintenance.
I had a red streak of hair back in the days, and the bleaching, dyeing, using the right shampoos, coloring my clothes, etc - was rough.
I hope you enjoy Highway Blossoms. I know that I did! The story is nice, but more importantly, the text is -really- well written. No badly done translation. The writing is really clever, making you smile and think “haha, that was well put” often.
And the two characters! They are great, relatable, and loveable.
When I woke up, it didn’t look as bad as I was afraid it would! my conditioner fix worked pretty well, and I bought more dye to rejuvenate the color in a day or so.
It’s a decent enough matinence - I use special shampoo and conditioner that’s a little expensive, and I do it every three months. Beyond that, my wardrobe is pretty much all black/white/grey/blue already so my hair matched in fine.
I’m a little of the way in and I’m just really excited for it. That’s great to hear! I love well-written shit so much. Your positive review makes me more excited c:
