#32 Detemmienation!
As promised I've spent most of my time playing videogames the last couple of days and made some decent progress - not that I wouldn't have played videogames anyway. I decimated my current list of prioritized games and can now move on to other gems like Superhot, System Shock and Brothers. I've never been that excited about videogames and beating them. Thanks again, you know who you are!
Super Time Force Ultra
I've beaten the main story of Super Time Force Ultra, which is only a small fraction of the content, but enough for me to consider it done for now. There's still the hardcore mode and the helladeck missions, which are small puzzle levels that make most out of the main time-bending feature.
What I said about the game still stands and I would only repeat myself here, but the story was hilarious. If you liked Not A Hero you will love this one. Not that they are similar in any way, but they definitely share the same vibe and charisma.
Undertale
Over time I was doubting if the hype for this game was justified and I can confirm that it was and still is.
I've got the true pacifist ending, after some major mind-fuckery, and never has a game encouraged me to play this way. The game is so positive and fun, it was just a joyride through and through. I don't want to kill anyone in this game and usually I'm always the bad guy in videogames, except for the ones that force you to be good, because the bad route is often the wrong route and punishes you for choosing it. One of the things I hate the most about the supposed multiple choice, choose your own way bullshit these days.
Tem outta tem!
There are a few things to criticize though. Playing with a controller is wonky at times and I wouldn't recommend using it for the fights. Plus you'd think a game of this magnitude would have full controller support and give you the chance to take screenshots, but the game engine hinders you from doing that. Only minor things because I grew to take them for granted, but still an amazing game!
The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth
Put about 10 hours into Isaac and made some decent progress. I never got a win streak going, but I got the cat has my tongue challenge, killed Mom and her heart, as well as Satan, which is a shame, because he always offered me amazing deals! If Satan ever offers you something for your soul, accept it, it has no consequences, only benefits! \m/
Summer Sale
Did it help that the button's blue? I sure hope so, because I would like some advice from y'all!
So far I bought Hyper Light Drifter which was the number one on my wishlist and I just had to get it, but now I'm wondering what else I should buy or maybe not buy anything at all?
After talking to a friend on Steam I decided to keep my Steam wallet untouched and save the money for upcoming releases and there are several I am waiting for. Having a few bucks available will help out a lot and I know that I will play those right away.
I still have ~12€ on PayPal though and have someone who could get the games in New Zealand for me, but I really don't know what to purchase! Or maybe I shouldn't purchase anything at all, at least not for me, get something for upcoming birthdays (wink!) or maybe for giveaways? Maybe I shouldn't get anything from my wishlist and get something cheaper instead? Something I haven't considered yet?
Anyway, I reduced my wishlist to a few games I am considering to get
Kentucky Route Zero, Axiom Verge or one of the Resident Evil remakes.
Input is highly appreciated, so what do you think? Buy something or save the money? Be egoistic or make someone else happy? If so, what should I get?
Stardew Valley is another game that’s similar to Undertale in the way that it doesn’t seem like it lives up to the hype until you play it. So despite having not played it, that’s a game I would definitely recommend. However, you can find the resident evil titles for very cheap in places other than Steam
That sounds about right! I was actively avoiding Stardew Valley because of the sudden hype, although, knowing that some people have put hundreds of hours into this game, I am afraid I gonna get lost in it if I’d buy it. :S
If you have any secret tips for those Resident Evil games, shoot away! I don’t mind if it’s on the grey market
I feel the same way, I’m not into the pixelated graphics but if it’s addicting as everyone says, I know I’ll spend hundreds of hours on it which I cannot do right now lol I have too many games in my backlog :P
Ok not gonna lie I used to get nearly all of my games from Kinguin and G2A, until they started asking me for proof of address out of nowhere and cancelled my orders for no reason which was kinda shady. Never had any issues with getting my money back though so it’s not like they were scamming me. Anyway they’ve got some really good deals on the RE series, but for some reason right now they’re only marginally better than the Steam prices
I figured you must have been talking about G2A/Kinguin since the RE remakes are rarely really cheap. I use whatever suits my needs for the moment usually, but I used Kinguin and G2A myself in the past and never had any problems. I also know a lot of people who use those website regularly and they have been contacted as well. I think if you surpass a certain value they think you’re suspicious. Don’t know how exactly, but in some way they feel like that is necessary? A friend of mine was contacted by Kinguin and sent them what they wanted and can keep buying stuff.
I even get a little angry when I see people talking about G2A and that G2A is a scam, that everything is stolen. They don’t understand it’s like eBay. And you never heard anyone say eBay sells stolen car radios!!!. I have been browsing recently and read some negative reviews and some people are just plain dumb. One guy bought a uplay key for a season pass and wrote “I can’t put this code in my PS4!!”. That’s basically most people that got scammed :D
And as for RE, prices aren’t that great, yeah. I probably gonna get the first Resident Evil for 10€ from New Zealand, still a good price.
Yeah I never got the sense that they weren’t legit, I know if I had sent them proof of address it would’ve been fine, but they happily cancelled my orders. What I thought was weird was they only started asking questions when I payed with a credit card one time. I soon realized it was because I had moved and not updated my address so that made me look suspicious which is fair enough. Kinguin’s customer service is actually very good. G2A has only contacted me for confirmations which is actually a good thing to do imo.
Calling it grey market makes it seem like such a bad thing but it’s legit just people selling thousands of keys at a time, and on rare occasions the keys were bought with stolen credit cards or something, but that doesn’t make the keys illegitimate. Buying in bulk can be very profitable at the end of the day. Just buy from a well rated seller and it’s all good. I would never buy from a community seller though, it’s the same as ebay like you said.
It’s a shame you missed out on the Capcom Humble Bundle, they had a few RE games for very cheap. I also bought into the hype and bought Stardew Valley tonight, I’m very excited to play it :)
Exactly, and most prices can be easily traced back to its origin. Bundles bought in bulk, foreign stores with weak currencies and no region lock like Nuuvem or just the indonesian Steam store for example. Yet most people claim that everything can only be cheap because games were bought with stolen credit cards. That’s so paranoid.
I’ve got the Capcom bundle the first time around. Got Resident Evil 4, 5 and Revelations 1 and 2 (Only the first episode). The, uh, what did they call it? Rebundle, redux, repeat whatever. Anyway, didn’t buy the second bundle because it contained most of the stuff I already had and I got Resident Evil 6 from someone I made a logo for, as payment so to say. So I’m good on that part, just really want the remasters since they capture the original essence of Resident Evil.
Have fun! Looking forward to reading about it on here when you played it. :)
Ah I see I got the Capcom bundle too, I’m not too interested in the RE series but the remasters do look pretty good, while the newer games look like nothing special
Thanks! It may not be for a while but I’m looking forward to eventually playing it and ruining my life :)
Someone’s selling Resident Evil origins bundle on G2A for about 16 bucks. ~15 with a voucher applied.
I am tempted by that, I would save almost 10 bucks and get both Resident Evil remasters. Yet I’m hesitating, because I never spent that much on G2A and despite never having any troubles with the site, I never really cared with the purchases I made. They were 5€ max.
What do you think? (I figured I could ask you about your opinion on that matter)
Ok if you really want the games and you think it’s worth the $15 then go for it. But if the seller doesn’t have many ratings or they’re a community seller definitely get the G2A protection so you can get a refund if something goes wrong
The seller has good rep. Over 60000 sales and 99% rating. Just hesitant because I never spent that much on there, never used Shield either. And the price seems good to be true.
I never use shield either, it’s usually a waste of money. I’ve spent upwards of $50 on G2A and I’ve never had issues. That rep is great, I would just go for it :)
That’s great! I’m glad Undertale turned out to be so good. :D
Thanks again, Wolf! And yes, it definitely defied expectations in that regard, because when all you hear is only praise you think that there’s something wrong, but there wasn’t and it’s a great game. Not revolutionary or anything, but if it was a 90s comedy, the selling point here would be *It’s the feel-good movie of the year!” That is when you decide not to kill anyone like I did. :D
Meh, it’s not showing the caption, so here: “y’all” + Kentucky = match made in heaven?!
Edit: Of course, if you’d rather buy a complete game, just wait a few more years until this one is (and has better discounts?). I don’t own it, but it looks cool :)
Well, I have to admit that I just saw some screenshots, read a few reviews from reliable sources and just really wanted to play it, because I’m always after games that offer a somewhat unique experience in comparison to the market as a whole, but I didn’t know that the last episode was released two years ago, that’s… wow.
Definitely crossing that off the list, also rewatched a review for Axiom Verge and probably won’t buy that. Instead I’ll be going for Resident Evil and Fingered. I think my money is well spent there.
Although I gotta admit that I didn’t realize I would have money again before the sale even ends. I hope I can resist buying more than that. :D
KR0 isn’t finished, and it’s taking it’s sweet, sweet time. It’s interesting but I’m extremely hesitant to give a recommendation for it.
Sooo… What’s your advice on the overall situation? :v
Don’t buy unfinished games? :v
Glad you mentioned that. I’ve had that game on my wishlist for a while, but I’ve missed/forgot that it’s not fully released. The reviews say it’s been two years since the last act was out.. that ain’t good.
Wait, wha- TWO YEARS?!
Yeah.. :l I noticed they’ve made a twitter post about Act IV last November, but then again, that’s over 7 months ago. Hopefully they’ll sort out whatever problems they have.
edit: Latest update a month ago; they’re getting closer. :D
Well, that’s helpful. Now I know I won’t get Kentucky Route Zero unless they actually finish the game.
Leaves me with Axiom Verge and Resident Evil. Char says Resident Evil is cheaper somewhere else, so the decision is somewhat clear?
Still don’t know if I should buy something or get something for someone else tho. :D
If it helps SuperBunnyHop did a video on Axiom Verge it might have spoilers in it though, can’t remember.
Watched around the time when you told me about his channel. If I recall correctly he called this game a student project, a proof of concept. Something like this. All I know is that he didn’t praise the game at all. It’s good, but not good enough. A bad metroid clone. But that’s long ago so my memory is probably messing with me.
On the other hand Game Maker’s Toolkits and other reviews were praising it.
I wouldn’t know… :) My memory isn’t the best either.
Well it seems you’re getting closer to a decision. :) When I’m in doubt during a Steam sale, I consider if the game is something I want to play right now.. if it’s not, I can wait for a little longer.
