January 2023 Summary

The new year has officially begun and we’ve already reached February! This past month I put some time into a bunch of games, four of them being completed fully!

I put the most time into Little Lives. I’ve always been a fan of life simulators and this was no different. Rather simple gameplay but unique at the same time with you driving your car around either top-down or first person as the main way you interact with the world and go about daily tasks. I think as the developers hone the gameplay and add more details and things to do it will develop into a great game. Right now it’s good, but I would argue low replayability for a life sim.

I was particularly excited about Showrunner releasing into early access this month after watch multiple before-release gameplay videos. I had a lot of fun with it! But.. only for a couple hours. After that point it’s repetitive and there isn’t much else to do yet at this stage of early access. I definitely will be coming back to it in the future when more updates arrive.

Surprisingly, for me at least, Barn Finders was/is much more fun than I anticipated and hopefully I can get back into playing it after a few weeks away. It’s fun to hunt down all the junk and flip it for profit. The hillbilly persona of the game isn’t too much and adds character instead. If simulation is your type of game I’d recommend it.
