IK, IK, I knowwwww, and I'm sorry (ABC)
I'm doubling up by using this as a ABC entry as well as a Challenge me entry...no buli

Inside...wow. this was something else alltogether.
A cinematographic masterpiece all things considered.
The graphics are gorgeous they don't even attempt to aim for realism which I honestly preferred.
Instead everything has a matte texture/dark palette with solid colors and minimalistic tone.
The little boy you play doesn't even have a face!
But because of all this you don't feel like its attempting to be a photo-instead its just pure art.
And in the same way that people pay huge amounts of money for paintings when you could use your phone to get a more realistic image, the effect of
having a slightly more artistic set up, while still making it really detailed and including effects, and really nice use of the dark theme means so much more than just having everything look like real life. Rip run on sentence
I'm not sure if I'm explaining this correctly but w/e
Gameplay-wise its nothing special.
However the gameplay does not hinder your enjoyment and this is important.
Many puzzle games pass off horrible controls just because they focused on the story.
and while Inside isn't perfect it does a good job of making sure you don't have to fight againsed the controls.
Also spoiler warning but...
These fucking demon children are so fucking scary I'm out I'm done like they wern't that bad when I was in my sub cause I could scare them away with light
but then you reach a point where you have jump into the water yourself and their floating umbilical cords start trailing behind them as they chase you and nope nope NOPE!
I'm out I'm done go awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...
mermaid hell spawn
Also since I'm here I might as well ask...does anyone know what the ending even means? (first one not the true one) like you become ball and then escape and go sit by the edge of a river? it feels like that thing people do where they set up an imposible challenge then randomly pick thire favorite solution and say its the correct one...they made a tripy end and then set it up so people think it has some deep meaning when really they have no clue what they are doing.
Anyways I liked this game- Thank you LastM for challenging me to play it.

Jotun on the other hand...okay I really want to like this,
and maybe if I was in a different mood/had played at a different time I would have enjoyed it more.
I was already going into it slightly annoyed that I had to buy it then it went free some time after I had bought it but before I had even touched it...feels like a waste.
But my main problem with Jotun is that I just finished hyper light drifter days before starting it.
And if you try and compare them it falls short in absolutely every regard.
Even my favorite part of jotun (the art/character design) can't hold up with the beautiful pixel art.
However while I feel like its a bit unfair to treat jotun as a second place entry just beacause of a comparison it also feels like a perfectly valid reason.
If that makes sense.
Even the main point of fighting boss's was done better in Titan souls as these are all basically spam attack/a combination of all your powers to win VS figure out the boss's rhythm and weakness then exploit it.
So if you already own it/its sitting away in your backlog I'd say go ahead and try and beat it but if you are thinking of buying it there are more fun options.
Slightly off topic but I finished both of these around a week ago and was going have kero blaster as my third entry-work on L,M,N next cause I've also been challenged to play my M entry but school is gotten really messed up and I think I'm going end up cheating a bit for my next entry and skip straight to M because its part of my challenge me and I don't think I can play through both K L and M by the end of the challenge me term.

I took away the same thing! Though I was thinking more on a grand scale, of corporations and society as a whole being made to fit people in a bubble and be easily controlled. For some reason I wasn’t thinking on a smaller scale, more individual basis (and friends/family etc. even), though of course that’s true too.

BLEAO ATE MY REPLY :3<
So I already wrote this/something like it but because I’m lazy/have lots of stuff I have to do write now its going be alot shorter than my original paragraph
I personally like the whole theory that the blob is controlling the boy the whole time-enforced by the true ending where he unplugs himself and shuts off.
Honestly I like that ending even though it doesn’t really explain much/its also open ended and the cheevo says “figured out the full truth” but I’m still lost.
While its quite obvious that there are themes of brainwashing and people forced to work as robots/marching around I don’t feel like like the ending of the blob sitting on the edge of the river adds anything.
Arguments can be good and bad if you keep them closer to a debate than a “I don’t belive the same thing as you and your stupoiiiddee” difference of opinions.
That being said I still belive they just made the ending purposfully vague so people could interpet it however they liked/your theory is as good a theory as any I’ve heard.
Glad you liked my choice and congrats on beaten both games, but especially jotun! It’s not as easy as it looks! :)
I could only beat jotun by going back and getting every single power available in each area then going back to the harder bosses and spamming all them :/
“fast plus hammer” =half health gone… tank them then use healing. then spam both spears in quick succession when they get down to low health etc.
Inside intrigues me and I want to play it… but damn… those mermaid things creep me out!
Spoilers:
I loved the whole diorama incorporation, showing how despite feeling free at the end it’s all an illusion. The “sun” is in the exact same position at the end. And that even the beginning part of the game was most likely inside and part of the cycle. There are various youtube videos and reddit posts of theories/explanations that people had, which I enjoyed seeing in case you’re interested. Was able to compare them to my own thoughts and pick up on some things I’d missed myself. :)
I’m glad you liked it still! I really loved it myself. And I totally don’t think doubling up on challenges is cheating, I’ve been doing that myself. haha
I like this interpertation.
I still belive that they made it really open ended solely so they could let people interpret it to suit thire own fancy/any which way but this is as good a example as any
Yeah I agree, they definitely wanted to keep things open to interpretation which sometimes I find cheap and annoying in games. But I actually loved it in this case.
