Second week of January progress

It is the end of the week again so time for another post. Not much to see here, just 2 point and click games from the “Challenge me” challenge that I have a completely opposite opinions on.

Challenge progress

  • ABC challenge - 20/27 completed, 2 unfinished - post rework still under progress.
  • Challenge me #6 - 2/5 games completed, 1 unfinished

    Completed SG win

    • The Journey Down: Chapter One

      5 hours playtime

      no achievements

The Journey Down: Chapter One - I HATED the accent of the guy you play. I think it is some kind of Jamaican accent and I just can not stand it at all. Ruined the game for me. Other than that it is tagged as "comedy" and "funny" on Steam and I did not find it funny either. I will still play the 2nd chapter one day just because I own it but blah...

    Other completed game

    • Ben There, Dan That!

      65 minutes playtime

      no achievements

Ben There, Dan That! - This one on the other hand I loved. The time Steam is reporting is off by an hour or 2 (client keeps putting me offline randomly for seemingly no reason at all, if anyone has any idea what might be causing it, please let me know). Where do I even start with this thing... The configuration menu makes you wonder in what year you are right now - it references CRT monitors and it launches at a ridiculously low resolution (320 x 2xx), you can make it go up to 1440p but anything other than default made text unreadable for me. The ridiculousness doesn't stop at the settings menu tho, this whole game story is ridiculous and make you wonder what the actual fuck is going on there. In a good way, at least for me. I guess some people might find it childish, stupid or cringy, but I did enjoy it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. What I did also really like is that they had a different text for every failed item interactions unlike generic "you can't use that with that" I see in a lot of HOGs I play.

    Look in the past

    • Puzzler World

      20 hours playtime

      14 of 14 achievements

Puzzler World - Completed in July 2013. The graphic look extremely dated but in the core it is a decent game with whole lot of puzzles of 8 different kinds. I liked some kinds way more than others but if you get it for really cheap you can have some decent entertainment out of it.
  • Blue Ϟ Lightning

omg I hated the journey down as well…The accent didn’t bug me as much but just the way they were lowlifes and stuff did.
also did not find in funny in the slightest

I am glad to see I am not the only one. The amount of positive reviews this game has seriously surprises me.

I don’t know how you finished both of those games (Time Gentlemen and Ben There) in 65 minutes, even if it is off by up to 2 hours. The second game seemed longish compared to the first one, and I’d more or less had enough after the first one. I would have finished the second if it was as short as the first, but it didn’t seem that way. Oh well. :)

I only played “Ben There, Dan That”, not “Time Gentlemen, Please” because that all I have been challenged to play is and they are 2 different games to download. Didn’t even know they came in a pack together till I opened the store page earlier today. I will play the other one someday as well.

Oh, okay that makes more sense. They appear as two different games on Steam/BLAEO (both with the same icon) but only Ben There Done That is completed; the other is Never Played. FWIW, I believe Time Gentlemen, Please is shorter.

Journey Down has also 3rd chapter now ;) If you didn’t like it, you might just stop at the 1st one.

they had a different text for every failed item interactions

I really appreciate attention to detail like that. Divinity:Original Sin 2 I’m playing atm, is overflowing with flavour text. For example in the graveyard you can click on every cross, tombstone, sign, etc, and each one says something different. And it’s no small graveyard, heaps of thing to click on.
So who spent a lot of time last night in a virtual graveyard clicking on things?
    < This girl. XD

Btw, you can edit the game tile in your BLAEO post and manually correct the time. No Idea what to do with that issue on Steam though. I played 2h of Alien: Isolation (even have achievement time stamps spanning over an hour), but Steam shows 5min played - wth? I didn’t even play offline, so I have no idea what the issue may be.

I saw, but I don’t own the 3rd and I am not planning on buying it :D

Yea I wish more games would do it. I found myself randomly tying stuff on stuff just to see what I get. Some stuff would actually give you some really neat and sometimes quite long explanations. I enjoyed it immensely.

I know, but I am lazy :P I guess it is just one of those Steam things…
