220+ PERFECT GAMES AND 98% ACHIEVEMENT COMPLETION REACHED
Another big accomplishment I've had recently was having Dogmas to start playing World of Warcraft in my region so we'll get to play together when I return :D
Warning: This post will be long because I haven't written in ages.
I haven't written reviews for every game so if you want to know more about a certain game, I'd be happy to give you more information if you let me know ^^
Games I am currently playing:
I'd like the thank the person who generously gifted me the base game for Age of Empires II. I've been wanting to play an RTS for a while now but I was delaying Age of Empires and I originally planned it as my last completion that would mark the end of my backlog. But I really couldn't hold off on the nostalgia cause I had this massive RTS itch I wanted to scratch. The recent winter sale had a pretty good deal for the DLCs too so I purchased them. I actually never played any of the DLCs for Age of Empires so this provided me with the incentive to finally play them. Of course I played the original game religiously during my childhood which luckily took place in the golden age of the RTS genre which I love so much. I fully intend to get 100% completion on this game; however, I'm also aware that it is going to take "ages" :P I really am having the time of my life though and I'm quite enjoying myself while wasting away like 20 minutes trying to put my army in a fancy formation just so I can take some screenshots.
Grim Dawn is simply put my "in your face Blizzard" game. I will never forgive them for asking customers to pay 15 freaking euros to buy the Necromancer class which already should have been in Diablo 3 from the start. Oh did I also mention that I have Diablo 3 and Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls in DIGITAL DELUXE editions? No, not good enough. Everyone must pay! So I went with Grim Dawn's extremely decently priced (it's actually cheap considering the content it offers) expansion titled Ashes of Malmouth that comes with the Necromancer class as well as more levels, more items, more content to explore and another class! I really like this genre and I believe that Grim Dawn is among its finest examples. There are crazy number of possibilities you can achieve with your build and class combinations. It is pretty deep in terms of playstyles. I am currently playing with a full pet build Cabalist (Necromancer + Occultist) and having a blast. There are also some things I don't like such as the game not having dedicated multiplayer servers so it's up to players to host games. Dogmas and I couldn't even find each other on server list despite all the hours we tried. Hamachi didn't work either so we had to give up on co-op which felt quite heartbreaking. Having to finish lowest difficulty in every character to unlock higher difficulties for each of them to test builds in near end game content and very poor loot distribution are only some of my criticisms. I am honestly sick of getting items that give unique boosts to classes that I am not playing as.
It's been a little more than a year since I completed The Witcher 3. I think it's been high time for months now for me to start playing the first game. Gameplay is absolutely atrocious in every step of the way so I downloaded a mod that makes me unable to die. I've already completed a naked Geralt+fists run in Witcher 3 on Deathmarch difficulty so I really don't have anything more to prove to myself. I just wanna see the story and move on. I am definitely not here for the gameplay.
Also did a full Warcraft themed playthrough in This War of Mine (starring Illidan, Grommash, Medivh and Lich King). Illidan manages to be crazy badass in every game. HE IS HIS SCARS after all! I also wanted to go for a solo Handsome Jack run but I continued playing other games.
Games I finished but can never 100% complete:
I finished Grim Dawn long ago but I've been playing on higher difficulties to get more achievements. I am taking a break from Grim Dawn to focus on Age of Empires but I am definitely not done with this game. While achieving 100% completion is out of the realm of possibility, I can definitely earn 2 more achievements and I will certainly make an attempt to get 2-3 achievements in hardcore mode. Even if I fail to get them I still want to try some different class combinations in softcore and have more attempts in hardcore mode.
Ori and the Blind Forest can go down in history as one of the games that made me literally cry due to its difficulty. Escaping Ginso Tree sequence will be a moment that constantly gives me nightmares. In the end I prevailed though and managed to finish the game. At first I thought I would never replay the game to get some of the collectible achievements I missed but it was extremely surprising even for me to immediately start a 2nd playthrough to re-finish the game and sweep up those achievements too. The game felt far more enjoyable during the 2nd playthrough because somehow I managed to improve :P The game has a pretty emotional story which broke my heart into billions of pieces so despite hating platformers I am actually looking forward to the upcoming 2nd game too. It also boasts an incredible soundtrack and visuals. Definitely not a game to be "enjoyed" by platformer newbies like me though.
Lumo is a massive mistake of mine. I fell into that trap because I thought the game looked cute and that it would be an enjoyable isometric adventure game. It turned out to be an extremely annoying platformer and it isn't even fully isometric. The camera angle makes the game even harder to play because some platforms I need to jump on look like it's to my front left above me so using W+A directional keys should get me there but no it's actually behind and under me so I need to press S+A. There are tons of examples like this which are simply death traps and cheaply kill the player a lot more often than not. I also hate Spy Chameleon, it was actually my top hated game until I watched Dogmas' playthrough for Life is Strange Before the Storm which quickly replaced it. Ultimately it currently holds the 2nd spot on my "most hated games list". I don't wanna give any attention to this game any more than it deserves (which is none actually) so I'll only say this: It is not a stealth game!
I also created an alt account on Steam. The idea is to play the games that will seriously harm my completion rate on it. I also use that account to test games. For example I tested Alien Isolation on it as I planned to 100% it on my main account but I was unsure about certain features. During the first 10 minutes I ran into a glitch which kept me from progressing. A door that is supposed to be open was closed and no matter what I did, it stayed closed. Therefore I found this alt account very useful so far and I'm glad it is not just for playing games that would become completion rate downers on the main one.

If I made a list of my favourite games that were released during this decade Shadow Tactics would easily take the top spot. It is a real time tactics/stealth game that gives a lot of nostalgic feels from the Commandos era. I can talk about this game forever so I will just share the long and much more detailed review I wrote about it on my blog. If you want to know more about the game I strongly suggest reading it to see if it's something you will like playing because the review holds a lot of information about the gameplay as well as abilities for the characters you can control and types of enemies you will encounter etc. The review is as long as this post and this post is already long enough so my two options are either sharing a link to the review or making a separate post. I don't like the feed to be spammed so I am going with the former.
I can't believe I was scared to start this game because according to HLTB it was like 50 hours long to complete. I am not afraid of long games either so I guess I was making excuses at the time. Dreamfall Chapters is definitely one of the best adventure games I've played in my life and I've played a lot of them. A minimum of 2 playthroughs are required for 100% completion and I plan to have my 3rd playthrough very soon in order to experience this magnificence again. It's full of funny and emotional moments with meaningful choices that can affect the consequences but not as much as I'd like them to. Characters are extremely likable, especially Crow and Enu are painfully adorable. Dialogues are well written and voice acting is absolutely amazing. It also has Dave Fennoy voicing a recurring side character. Dave Fennoy voiced Vol'jin, our late Warchief, in World of Warcraft so hearing his voice again made me cry.... I miss my Warchief so much :'( Leaving Warcraft aside, I'll surely play the previous games in the franchise in the very near future. I read a lot about the lore of the this game so while Dreamfall Chapters can be enjoyed as a standalone game as it has its own story which is not directly connected to the previous games, there are mentions of some characters whose stories are told in previous games so I believe playing the previous games can provide a wider context so I will be doing my 3rd playthrough after I finish the first two games in the franchise.
While the game is not bad by any means, it's easily the weakest game in the Dishonored franchise. The game offers far more limited areas to stealth than its predecessors. Certain areas have stationary guards who never turn around, meaning some distraction or non-lethal knock downs are mandatory as there is no other way in and I hate doing both with a passion. 100% ghosting the way I like is absolutely impossible. Another unfortunate thing is that the chaos system is removed from the game. In past Dishonored games depending on chaos level you may encounter more or fewer enemies and of course you get different endings. It really doesn't matter how you play in this game. You will still be faced with the same two options regarding how to deal with The Outsider in the end regardless of your playstyle beforehand.
I was NOT expecting Sleeping Dogs to be this enjoyable. Storytelling is successful, voice acting is great and gameplay is fun. Driving is a mess though so it was really tough to get driving related achievements especially the ones in one of the DLCs as I had to destroy certain number of cars within the time limit. Excluding the driving, I enjoyed it far more than similar open world action games like GTA V (except Trevor bits, he is legendary), Mafia III, Saints Row etc. It also has some pretty brutal and greatly diverse environmental takedowns :D Despite being able to use a gun, I generally kept going for these environmental takedowns even against enemies who also wielded ranged weapons and this is coming from someone who dislikes melee combat and martial arts playstyle....
I had a lot of problems with the first Kingdom Rush because it had very poor balance. For example some missions required the exact intended solution in order to get the perfect score. In Frontiers this is fixed. As long as you balance out your setup while keeping in mind the types of enemies you will encounter within the mission you will achieve results. In the first game certain challenges required the exact setup the developers wanted for that mission so there were times I even had to check a guide cause all my attempts proved to be futile. In Frontiers after some failures and making adjustments to my setup and strategy according to the knowledge I gained during my failures, I started achieving the results I aimed for. When I checked official solutions, it made me happy to know that both solutions were different and still achieved the same results. Highly recommended to tower defense fans.
This was a very surprising and unexpected gift. I humbly thank the kind and generous person who shared this game with me. Its high production value is clearly evident in the creative ways the storytelling is provided to the player. Unfortunately its story is extremely bland and most questions are not answered. I don't mind the mystery and unanswered questions due to open endings but bland story is not something I want to see in a walking simulator. However, the way the story is told is exceptional and easily sets the game apart among its counterparts. The storytelling in most walking simulators tend to be rather uninteresting even when they may have interesting stories to tell whereas Edith Finch provides the most creative and enjoyable narrative experience. Ps, the game is only 2-3 hours long. I have 6 because I played it twice.
Achieving 100% completion in Mad Max was not something I expected from myself at all. I've originally finished the game shortly after it was released and didn't enjoy it that much because it felt quite repetitive to me. As repetitive as Mafia III... However the driving in the game is very enjoyable and feels quite smooth, I'm glad they got that right as like 80% of the game involves driving. I only had race and challenge related achievements remaining in the game as well as a few collectible ones. When I re-downloaded the game to get the collectible ones, somewhere down the line I found some motivation to try out the rest as well. I remember having massive difficulties with the races when I played the first time but there were only a few times when I failed to win the race in my initial attempts when I replayed it. So getting the race achievements out of the way felt quite satisfactory. However the real problem was the challenge achievements and that is because I had finished the game and had 0 threat levels in all zones, meaning the vehicles or enemies I needed to find in order to do challenges were very rare. "Kill 15 enemies by using boarder spikes" challenge required certain vehicles that have enemies that try to board your vehicle. These vehicles are generally found in convoys but as I destroyed all of them, it became extremely difficult for me to find the spot that might have these vehicles spawn. This challenge alone took me around 15 hours. So if there is anyone out there who might be aiming for 100% completion in Mad Max but hasn't started or finished the game yet, leave at least one convoy alive to grind. Do the challenges before you clear out the entire map, don't leave them for post-story completion like I did.
Alekhine's Gun is the spiritual successor to Death to Spies. I really enjoyed Death to Spies games but unfortunately I can't consider Alekhine's Gun as enjoyable. The game has great score related features, for example to achieve Ghost rank which I simply have to in every stealth game (yes I try to do it in non-stealth games too), you can't make any noise, you can't take down anyone nonlethal or lethal, you can't be seen, your target must be killed in an accident and his body must not be found. Sounds excellent so far but sadly no. Guards for some reason are extremely forgiving. If they see you carry a body and if you are quick to stop carrying it, they will just move on. Whistling is an extremely powerful tool; you can whistle, distract someone and enter a room you aren't allowed to enter (because of a low rank disguise for example), yet if the guard sees you leaving this room you aren't allowed to enter, he'll be totally fine with it. I really like the idea of killing targets in accidents but there is only one way which is considered as an accident for each target. The real puzzle is just figuring that out. Creativity is definitely not allowed. Also the voice acting is so bad that it made me mute the game during cutscenes...

Yay for getting Dogmas to play WoW! \o/
Also I do love your This War of Mine team <3
Have a great year!
Happy killing 2018!
I don’t like survival games. So after I reached 100% achievement completion in This War of Mine through regular campaign, I installed a bunch of mods that will make the survival aspect trivial and went full roleplaying mode just for the fun of it :) It was crazy funny to chop up furniture around the shelter with Grommash, Gorehowl is a great weapon for that :D
I was like this but for chopping up furniture instead of demons :P :
Thank you so much, have a great 2018 yourself :)
Oh yeah, I totally get that! I don’t like that either. Plus I don’t like 2d games. Buuuuuut I have that game non the less, because the thought and story behind it got to me :]
It sounds super awesomely funny! :D
Keep on chopping, Grommash!
I added even more screenshots of the Warcraft team in This War of Mine hihi :P
Oh by the way, on your poll on SG I voted for Shane. I have no idea who anyone is because I don’t play Stardew Valley but Shane was awesome in the first season of The Walking Dead and he’s my favourite character on the show by far so I voted for him :P
Awesome to read through them! Keep on posting! In case you are still playing, which you probably aren’t because you posted it here? Oh well :D
Yay for Shane!
But nooooooooooo! I didn’t like him in the Comics nor the Show! O.o
Although he was better in the Show. But still. mumble
My This War of Mine run is over, the game got very repetitive and it’s already been repetitive before. I’ll only play these new DLCs that are going to be released monthly.
Shane was the best, noone can take his place and the show has gotten so horrible since then in my opinion. Now for me the highlights are Eugene and then Shiva :P I haven’t read the comics, I am not interested in reading them though but I don’t mind reading articles about the way it differs from the show, that can be somewhat interesting.
I used to like Carol a lot. But ever since her breakdown I dunno what to think of her anymore :(
Also I’m all for Darryl. Maybe not look wise but character wise :]
And I love(d) Meggie and Glenn! But that is troubling now :(
Really, I gotta get in touch with my friend and make her go on watching it with me! bounce
Yay! Welcome back, I missed reading your updates! :D
Bloody hell, Grim Dawn has 124 achivs now? Last I played it had 84 … Sigh, one of those that just keep adding&adding achievements. I already disliked it after having played it for 22h for different reasons, now I dislike even more.
I also created an alt account on Steam. The idea is to play the games that will seriously harm my completion rate on it.
Or you could stop worrying about superficial completion rate in the first place, and thus stop hurting yourself by grinding out games that seem to make you miserable ;)
Anyway, how will that work - if you decide the game is fun and would like to play it on main account, will you purchase it again or something?
Aside from that - congrats on your impressive progress :)
Btw, if you want Witcher story - just read the books. They are far superior to what the first games pulled out of them, and no gameplay that you hate ;)
Grim Dawn had an expansion recently and it’s a big expansion too. The achievements are related to the expansion. No new achievements were added in terms of base game. I don’t like DLC/expansion related achievements either or achievements that keep being added to the game periodically (without expansions or DLCs etc), in Grim Dawn’s case it’s the former. But I really loved the expansion as it gave me my most sought after class, Necromancer.
It doesn’t make me miserable or hurt me. I like seeing my completions. I am using family share between accounts, I am not purchasing games multiple times. It might be superficial to some people, it isn’t to me. I also love my games with very very few exceptions, so if it gives me the incentive to play them even more, I consider it a personal win.
I read the books, with the exception of last 2 which are only available as fan translations if I am not mistaken. I’d rather wait for official translations and still get to experience the story in the first game as well as the 2nd one.
Thank you, have fun with your games as well and big congratulations on that Salt and Sanctuary completion, that must not have been easy.
I only mentioned this, because half of the games you wrote about here you seem not to have enjoyed, but pushed forward regardless. ;)
I don’t know what’s the status of Witcher translation in your country, but if it’s not a recent thing (that they just discovered them and started translating), you might want to read the fan translation. Those books came out here decades ago, so if entire series isn’t already available for your language, it might not be.
@S&S
Thanks. Actually it was easier than I expected. I just got pulled into it, and before I knew it, I’ve beaten the game. :) I mean the difficulty was there, but it didn’t feel that bad because I had fun, and didn’t mind learning on my mistakes, or repeating something till I get it right :)
That is because I held a theme of my own. I mentioned having very few exceptions to my library which I normally love a lot. There were some games I started but didn’t finish because I didn’t enjoy them. During this theme I held, I wanted to finish them. I have like only 5 out of 299 games in my library that I did not like at all and quit playing somewhere down the line. I finished 3 of them during this theme and all these games are mentioned in my update. Only 2 left, once I’m done with them whenever that may be, it’s smooth sailing from there because I’m normally extremely careful with the games I pick, these 5 games were mistakes from a year when I was very new to Steam and was making bad decisions. Achievements are irrelevant, I’m talking about genres and gameplays. It was the games that tortured me, but I prevailed over them and I feel great about it but I am not gonna buy games like them ever again.
I don’t read books in my native language with the exception of Metro series because I can’t find their English versions so I’ll stick around for official translations For Witcher books. I checked them about a year ago so maybe there are translations available now, I don’t know but I’ll check once I have time for them. I’ll get to them eventually but they are not a priority on my book backlog at the moment.
That’s awesome, the game looks fantastic but definitely not my cup of tea. I can still appreciate games for what they offer despite them not being for me. Games like Ori and the Blind Forest, Cuphead, Hollow Knight and Salt and Sanctuary are like that. I read that a married couple made the game from top to bottom without any help from anyone else, I am not sure if the story I heard is correct but it was so cute.
Oh my, if only 5 games are mistakes for you from the usual Steam mistake phase everyone is going through at the beginning, you’re so much better than the rest of us XD
Initially This War of Mine was also a part of the original list so it was 6 instead of 5 but I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would.
I really like my library :) I can’t wait to be done with those 2 remaining games one day. I’ll feel so much comfort once they are done. I don’t like having unfinished business :P
Well well, look who’s back ;)
Congrats on your number of perfect games & the completion rate!
For now, yea :P Thanks a lot :)
Congratulations on your progress too, I might be silent but I am still reading updates from friends.
Thank you :)
Nice to see another update from you! The alt account for experimenting games sounds like a good idea, nice to hear you’ve found it useful.
I wouldn’t mind hearing your thoughts about Virginia, I’ve heard and read mixed opinions about it so it’s interesting to hear more viewpoints about a game like that.
Also the name of Dave Fennoy caught my attention, I’ll always remember him as Lee from the Walking Dead S1. :) But looks like he’s had many other memorable performances as well.
Thank you so much, you are too kind :)
I liked the story in Virginia, it does nothing interesting or exceptional to separate itself from the walking simulators crowd though. However, it has the type of ending that is extremely open to interpretation. When I first finished it, I drew my own conclusions and wanted to search around to read other theories as well as developer feedback if there was any. Developer simply wants people to draw their own conclusions without saying anything more. While some people might want every questions to be answered which is something I can totally respect; I personally prefer open endings rather than closed endings most of the time. I just love theory crafting and reading different theories from different perspectives.
Yea he also voiced Lee among some other memorable characters but his tonation and a teeny tiny hint of Jamaican accent as Likho in Dreamfall Chapters reminded me a lot of our late warchief Vol’jin, who has a strong Jamaican accent in World of Warcraft. I still can’t get over his death so I couldn’t stop the waterworks when I first heard him as Likho :P I could always accept his characters from other games but everytime he spoke in Dreamfall Chapters I kept imagining Vol’jin. It was rather unhealthy for me :D
Okay, good to know! I know some people get upset or disappointed about ‘vague’, open endings and I can understand that, but like you I don’t actually mind some stories ending like that.
I still can’t get over his death so I couldn’t stop the waterworks when I first heard him as Likho :P
I think can relate, if I ever hear Fennoy’s voice again I’m sure I’d get a lump on my throat remembering him as Lee..
I think the general criticisms I read on BLAEO about Virginia were firstly about the ending and secondly about the silent narrative (the game has 0 dialogues). I totally understand and respect both of them. While I am fine with the former, I would prefer a vocal narrative. Still though I didn’t hate the game at all and in fact thought the story was interesting. It is definitely not something special though.
I actually liked the removal of the chaos system in Death of the Outsider. It really allowed me to “play my way.” I initially disliked the first Dishonored due to feeling that I was playing it wrong despite the game saying that I could “play my way.” In Death of the Outsider, except when I was going for cheevos, I never felt compelled to play strictly non-lethal, lethal, loud or stealth.
I’ve considered making an alt account when you previously mentioned that you were using one to test some games. In the end, I didn’t make one. I just try to not care too much about my completion %. XD
You could already play your way before, there was nothing stopping you :P Non-lethal is canon and the 2nd game as well as novels make this obvious but still you can kill everyone you want as you know, it just depends on whether people want to go canon or not it’s totally up to them. If developers didn’t want their players to also try the non canon way, they wouldn’t give the player all these fancy and shiny abilities, which seem to not attract me at all :P
Dishonored had a teeny tiny roleplaying aspect like that and I was angry it was removed. Those choices meant something because it gave you different endings or city would change, like in first Dishonored the city would slowly transition into this big chaotic mess if you played high chaos. Diseased enemies everywhere, tons of tall boys and more guards as opposed to kinda calmer city in low chaos. Dialogues changed. The game felt alive. Now it feels dead. It was obvious they rushed it just to milk it.
Oh well, it has its uses beyond completion downers too. I like it :) Besides I get to troll Dogmas constantly with it, she just deletes the proof on her profile before anyone can see :’(
Yeah, I could but I’d feel like I’m doing it wrong. :p Even in Dishonored 2, after I got all the cheevos, my play style became more low chaos. I enjoyed Death of the Outsider more than the first game. :p
Different strokes for different folks. :)
98%.. wow….. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much, you are doing a great work yourself. Keep enjoying games.
So nice to have you back \o/
And congrats on that crazy 98% completion rate AND on getting Dogmas to play WoW with you, you guys are probably gonna have a lot of fun :) And of course of all your new completions.
That’s nice reading your review of Dreamfall Chapters, I’ve been putting it off for a long time because of the HLTB announced time, but now I’m considering bumping it immensely up my list! And I’ll keep an eye out for the second Kingdom Rush. I take it from your review that Sleeping Dogs is holding up even after all this years? Thanks for the recs, it was really nice to read.
An alternate steam account seems like a great idea for you, since you’ve been keeping yourself from playing games that can’t be 100%, it might cut a big stress part for you and let you enjoy some games more :)
I am not back for good but thanks a lot for the lovely words :) I just really wanted to talk about some games and let it out of my chest :P
I know you don’t have a lot of time to play longer games but I think Dreamfall Chapters is really worth it. The final update has a nice map feature so you don’t really waste time getting lost in the city as most things including the location of some objectives are marked. There aren’t a lot of puzzles either, it generally plays like some of the recent Telltale games with the occasional puzzle here and there.
I really really and again really did not think I would enjoy Sleeping Dogs this much. The driving is insanely bad but the game itself is very fun to play. I also liked the DLC in which you play a police officer and conduct investigations. One of my screenshots is from that DLC, I have like tear gas weapons etc, simply making arrests and trying to prevent protests from getting out of control.
I am not keeping myself from playing games that can’t be 100%ed, that is too crazy :P I just don’t want a bunch of games that I can only get like 30-40% on. Missing out on some achievements are totally acceptable by my standards depending on the game. For example I went into Grim Dawn, fully aware that 100% was impossible for me. I’ll do the same for Witcher 2 as well. However I can’t do it for War for the Overworld because I doubt I can even get something like 60% on it due to crazy number of speedrun achievements which I do not want to worry about, so it’s being played on alt account.
Again thanks a lot for the kind words :)
Well, one can only hope and I miss your updates or seeing you on my feed, so…
Hopefully I should have more time starting in march to play longer games so Dreamfall Chapters will be perfect then. I have nice memories of the original Dreamfall so I’ll be happy to go back to that universe.
As for your achievements it makes sense, and your alternate account method seems the best. I don’t always check the cheevos before playing a game since I “try” not to care too much, but then with games like Ohklos or Jotun, most of them are some sort of speedrun/high skill which I’ll never get and they damage my completion score (even though my goals are not as high as yours, but I’m still struggling to reach them). On the plus side, the more games you complete the less impact those imperfect forever ones have on the score.
It’s great that you’ll have the opportunity to play longer games soon. I can’t wait to play the previous two games. I need a sale on Dreamfall: The Longest Journey though but I already have The Longest Journey in library. I need more Crow in my life!
On the plus side, the more games you complete the less impact those imperfect forever ones have on the score.
Yes that is nice but it’s losing its credibility for me as I’m running out of games. Maybe “credibility” is the wrong word there but I can’t think of a substitute. I checked Jotun’s achievements at some point, I never played the game but the achievement descriptions alone scream how hard a completion it really is :(
I’ve just checked and I can’t believe Dreamfall and The longest Journey are still so expensive on steam and haven’t been bundled. Those games are so old.
I’m running out of games
See that is why you need a wishlist :p Joke aside I understand what you mean by credibility. I can’t think of the correct word either but I totally get what you mean.
The worst part with Jotun for me is that I thought i’d really like it (the theme and the design really appealled to me) but it ended up not being my thing so there is really no way i’d put so many more hours in it to even try to get close to the goals of those cheevos. It’s different when you enjoy the game a lot I guess, then grindy cheevos aren’t as much of a pain.
See that is why you need a wishlist :p
I already have one :P Though it’s extremely limited. I really wanted to buy ONE game in the last sale (excluding Age of Empires DLCs) but I couldn’t find anything.
You are completely right. If I’m enjoying a game so much, achievements give me the incentive to play it even more. This is not something I mind at all. I like spending that additional time, going that extra mile in a game I enjoy. They are a problem when I am not enjoying the game at all. I am not looking forward to Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Helldivers :/ Only those two downers are left.
Jotun indeed has great visuals but the game is really not for me at all. Mistakes like Spy Chameleon and Lumo taught me to always watch gameplay videos before buying a game :D
Hey, may I ask something about Hidden Folks please?
Does the game have a save feature? Like while working on one of the big maps but having to quit for whatever reason, can you return back to your existing progress or do you have to start that map from scratch?
I’m 99% sure that once you find an item/person it saves automatically, because I don’t have the memory of having to redo things i had already done. I can’t verify cuz I’ve found everything but I’m pretty sure it auto saves every time you find something :3
Amazing cheevos, and some great games :) Congrats!
Thank you so much :) Glad to see someone else who also enjoyed Virginia.
Your backlog progress also looks great, congratulations to you too ^^
Great looking post! So many tabs :O And well done on that 98% total percentage! I’m still amazed you managed to push yourself through Lumo and Spy Chameleon, and it makes me happy you ended up liking Sleeping Dogs so much.
My only real experience in the arpg genre is Torchlight 2 which I didn’t find that enjoyable, but you’ve made me interested in playing Grim Dawn for sure, is there anything in particular that stands out as an improvement in your opinion as I’ve noticed you’ve played that too. At least in terms of graphic style it looks more appealing.
Thank you :p It’s only the same 3 tabs I constantly use :P I want more but the code breaks when I try to add additional ones so I always try to make do with the 3 tab template I have saved in some word document. For certain posts (like this one) 2 tabs above and 3 tabs below would be so tidy.
I’m amazed at myself too. I played so many games I didn’t enjoy during “torture theme” I hosted for myself to finish off games I started some time ago but never finished due to not enjoying them. I have 2-3 games left like that but the majority is completed. It feels great honestly.
I really enjoy arpg genre but Torchlight 2 is a game I don’t like that much either. I finished it twice on different classes and still have achievements left to finish it on other classes too and I do have a fun coop partner for it as well. Despite all of this I simply don’t want to play it, at least not now.
I like Grim Dawn far more than most arpgs I played. I think the most important thing it offers is that it is quite deep and complicated in terms of class combinations, abilities and constellations. One interesting thing Grim Dawn offers is that you can pick two classes. You pick your first class once you reach level 2 and once you reach level 10 you can pick a 2nd class or you can delay it and pick it later, it all depends on how you want to play and which abilities you want to prioritise for your gameplay. Here is a table that shows the class combinations, as you can see there are many of them. So many playstyles are available. You can be melee caster, ranged caster, melee summoner, tank summoner, ranged summoner (me), tank caster, dual wield pistol ranged dpser, melee dpser, a mix of a bunch of these so on and on and on. Here is a picture for constellations, there are so many of them that no picture on Google actually displays all of them at the same time. All those little shiny points give unique boosts to your character and you only have 55 points to pick stuff in constellations, some constellations (once fully unlocked) offer unique abilities that allow you to add them to your spells. For example I have a necromancer ability called Reap Spirit which has a 10 seconds cooldown, it summons some wraith that attacks enemies and lasts about 10 seconds. I got some constellation that allows me to summon some hellhound or something if the ability I assign it to hits an enemy, the cooldown for this ability is like 7-8 seconds. I assigned this constellation to Reap Spirit so when I cast it, I am guaranteed to get an additional pet when it is off cooldown. There are many examples like this and they are not all just about pets, they are for every build you can imagine.
I hope I was somewhat informative, if you want to know more you can ask me everything you want on Steam :)
Haha whoops, well in my defence it has been a while since your last update (sorry) :P
The class system sounds interesting, I think that was something I had a problem with Torchlight 2 was how I was often just spamming the same abilities in every encounter which got quite boring, and from what I remember there wasn’t much else you could do about that. So more complexity and combinations is nice to know as I’d like more customisation, it actually reminds me a bit of Guild Wars from how you’ve described it, which is only a good thing! The constellations only seem like a good thing too. That was very informative, thank you for the helpful reply! :)

There is nothing to defend or to be sorry for!
Once you find your build it’ll still be pressing the same buttons but there are two uber bosses in the game and they really do need specialised builds just for them if you want to solo them. Some nemesis bosses may also require special builds for them. Nemesis is the highest “negative” reputation you can reach with a faction, for example Undead. As you reach higher negative reputations with a faction they start spawning more elite enemies for you and nemesis reputation brings out the ultimate boss for that faction. It’s quite end game because it takes a long time and tons of kills to reach that stage depending on which faction you want to reach nemesis on, some factions like Beasts are much quicker to reach so not all of them are that “end game”.
It’s so good to see you back
For now.
oh well
