2020: The Year of the Backlog #1
So, l have been tracking the games I beat for the last three years and last year I knocked out 29. When I first started doing this in 2017, I knocked out 40 games that year. 2018 was not so good which was almost cut in half with only 23 completions. I am hoping to get back up to at least the 40 number again this year. I am going to try and not purchase any new games either this year but I cannot make a promise on that because it is one of my addictions. I do know I will at least keep my Humble Monthly going since I do not really want to lose out on my choice sub. I was thinking of having two categories for games getting knocked off the backlog. One for games I beat and/or at least play for a bit like multiplayer games and others that have no type of ending. Then a category for games I at least tried and just couldn’t keep myself playing or bother with.
So, to start this year off I beat Batman: Arkham Asylum Remaster on PS4. It is not much of a remaster as just a rerelease on the PS4. This is probably about my fourth or fifth time beating this game just on a new system this time. I beat on PS3 and PC also before. It is a great game. My next challengers for PS4 are going to be Apex Construct for PSVR and then Gravity Rush Remaster. I did beat Gravity Rush on the Vita when it came out and I have been wanting to see how it plays on the PS4. Oh, I also started up Final Fantasy XIV on PS4 with a few friends.
On PC I am working on A Plague Tale that a good friend bought me for Christmas. I also play Destiny 2 on PC for some never-ending multiplayer gaming. I am not sure what else I throw into spend some time on but I know when I start spreading myself to thin, I do not get things done. Hell, I still have a Nintendo Switch that does not really get any love. I have a lot cut out for me but it should be fun and I hope to keep things up to date here also. Maybe a post when I beat something and start a new game.

On top of that it’s really been hard to complain with the switch to Choice, unless they screw up today with second month’s offering. I’ve also tempted myself with “totally not buying new games”, but then I see great deals and can’t help it thinking I can always refund it. I never do.

Tried it briefly while I had PS+ subscription running. Such a great and charming game. Bit of a chore to control on Vita, though. Shame about the sequel’s server shutting down so that’s a chunk of the game players can never experience now.
Oh, I also started up Final Fantasy XIV on PS4 with a few friends.
I’ve purposefully limited myself to playing only the free trial so I can get my fix, but I’ve never been the type to stick with a subscription and if I do sub with FF14 I can’t rollback to free trial. Still plenty to do until level 30 with the way all jobs can be played with a single character, though. Entire game is like this mad fan service for the entire franchise.
Haha ya I tend to buy a lot and then not get to the game till it is even cheaper. I always tell myself “I should just wait, it’ll be on sale again” and then never do. I get that damn itch.
I’m also keeping my humble monthly going lol. No way am I letting go of that deal!
Not buying games at all is hard. I bought a handful this year, but that’s nowhere near as bad as the years where steam sales had flash sales going
Also BIG MISTAKE to start playing Final Fantasy XIV. That game is the game that ruined everything for me for a year straight now. I find it so hard to play other games when FFXIV exists lmao.
I should be fine with playing FFXIV. I have never been one to only sink all my time into one game. I may put a lot of time into it but I like to switch it up and enjoy new experiences.
I do miss the old flash sales. Those were so good at times. I actually kept myself from buying anything during this Steam sale.
I just keep mine paused to keep the old pricing, but I’ll only activate it for the month if there’s something interesting in the monthly. Just pointing this out as an option in case you weren’t aware of it. :)
Thanks but I knew of the pause function. I’ve been subscribed to monthly since it started just skipped a few months I think. I’ll most likely be using the pause more often though and with me not looking at purchasing anything I’ll hopefully start seeing a lot more unowned games in the future bundles. I tend do own at least have of the bundles but I usually give the extra keys to friends and stuff.
