2020: Year of the Backlog #2

Time for my next update on my backlog clearing for 2020. I have been using Random Steam Game Picker for my PC stuff for the time being and my PS4 will be just picking something installed and clearing it out. So let us get to it and start with the PS4.

PS4

I completed Gravity Rush and earned the platinum for this. I forgot how much fun this game was. Kat, the main character, is cute and adorable and always trying to do what is right even though she does not remember who she is or how she got there. I also forgot all the sexual innuendos they had in this game. She is constantly excited when someone mentions here looks and it seems like she really wants to get laid. Using her gravity powers and flying around was super fun and can get pretty crazy. There are still some mysteries to be discovered which are hopefully revealed in part two which I do own. If you have a PS4 I recommend checking this game out and I’m pretty sure it can be picked up for pretty cheap in a PSN sale.

I then finished up the four added trophies to Accounting+ the game from the Rick & Morty guy. I do not know his name so sorry about that. It is a VR game that was pretty funny. I also tried out another PSVR game I had bought in a bundle on the PSN store for some reason called Ace Banana. In this game, you are a banana and you have a bow and arrow to shoot monkeys that are trying to steal baby bananas. Not sure if that is what they are. Anyways I beat the first boss and made it to the second and then got destroyed. The game is poorly made with bad tracking for the Move controllers. It was a pain to aim exactly where I wanted all the time and it made me finally just give up and move on. I did earn some trophies from it at least but this one goes down as a hard pass.

My next game up for completion I was thinking Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Not really sure yet but that will most likely be it. With that, we move on to PC.

Update: I played through the four games listed below but for some reason when I generated the tiles the reviews are not showing up when you click the tile. So I beat Moon Hunters and A Plague Tale, but Fermi’s Path I got bored of and Clergy Splode was just garbage. Next time I’ll use different tiles since I cannot seem to update these ones. You can go to my reviews if you would like to see what I wrote up about the games. They are not long reads either.

    Fermi's Path

    3 hours playtime, 5 of 37 achievements (13.51%)

Fermi’s Path is not a bad game but I just grew tired of it after two hours. It is basically a music rail shooter of sorts. Collect tokens to build your combo to earn a higher score. There are three tokens to collect on each map and also a secret portal to take you to a hidden section of the map. It is challenging and I did have issues where I pressed a direction and it would partially go then come back to where I was and causing me to take damage or miss something. This became annoying but I looked past it. You have 23 levels to play through on three difficulties, and then an infinite mode that I think unlocks when you complete all the levels. I just didn’t get there. You can also create your own levels if you are into that which can then be loaded up to Steam Workshop. Overall it has some fun to it but I don’t think it is worth more than five dollars.

    A Plague Tale: Innocence

13 hours playtime (about 12 hours this month), 28 of 35 achievements (80%)

I had been wanting this game since I watch the review by ACG. The game looked fantastic and the story sounded intriguing. I kept holding off on it because of the number of games I have but a friend of mine bought it for me as a Christmas present. I was super stoked and started it at the end of December.

This game was full of sadness and heartbreak and it brought tears to my eyes a few times throughout my playthrough. Amicia was an amazing strong lead who you see struggle with keeping her brother and herself alive while on the run from the Inquisition and all the plague rats. Her brother Hugo was adorable and brought some happiness and sunshine to the dark world with his innocence. You meet great supporting characters who bring a lot of life to the group. Every character in the game was brilliantly voiced and helped immerse you into the game that takes place in 1349 in France.

You can find resources while on the run that will help you upgrade your equipment. Your main weapon is a sling which was fun to use. Especially the first time you kill someone and you feel and see the remorse from Amicia who lived an innocent life before this. You will learn how to create other weapons that will help you out a lot along the way.

I really loved this game and still need to go back and finish up the final achievements I missed because this is a game I consider fully completing. A Plague Tale is an amazing piece of work and Asobo Studio deserves all the praise they get. I also want to congratulate them on winning the 2019 Steam Award for Outstanding Story-Rich Game and all the other awards they won from various sites. You ever get the chance to play this do not pass it up. It will go down as a classic.

    Clergy Splode

    3 hours playtime, no achievements

This game is garbage. Not sure where I got it but it was probably some extra crap in a bundle I got and just redeemed the code. I cannot recommend this game to anyone. Avoid at all costs.

    Steam Review

    Moon Hunters

11 hours playtime (about 8 hours this month), 28 of 47 achievements (59.57%)

I chose to finally play Moon Hunters with Random Steam Game Picker and it was a great pick. I had a lot of fun playing it. Each hero you can play as has different play styles for combat and strengths in different stats. You have five days to explore and hope to beat the Sun Cultists. It doesn’t take long to complete one playthrough but there is plenty of replayability.

You can play with your choice of seven heroes but only four are unlocked at the beginning. Each night you camp after exploring a zone on the map. This is where you have your choice of what stats to level up. You can cook but you will need to discover ingredients to make food, sleep which usually talks of a dream, look at the stars, hunt, or stand guard. Each of the items levels up certain skills so you want to pay attention to what your character is strong in. Sometimes you may also get a visitor which may unlock something in-game or an achievement.

I went through the game multiple times and tried to discover as much as possible. It was a cool adventure and definitely worth playing. It has online co-op, local co-op, and remote play together. The online part did not find any matches for me so if you have a friend to play with you can do the remote play. Do not pass this little gem up.

    Steam Review

For my next round of Steam games, I randomly picked a few to go through since the ones picked seemed like they may be short. I have Think of the Children, Invasion: Brain Craving, Haunted House, and eden*. It is a variety of different style games so who knows what I will enjoy and what will just get tossed. My goal is to try and complete them all though.

Until next time keep up the gaming and I always appreciate comments or even game suggestions on what I should play next. You name it, I may most likely have it.

Generally a bad sign when you don’t know what to play next. ;)

Gravity Rush

Great game, I played it on Vita for a while before my PS+ ran out. Playing it on PS4 with actual gamepad without using the back touchpad for dodging must be way more enjoyable experience, though.

I think you just ended up missing ID containers for review bodies. Did you create them through BLAEO generators originally?

I have close to 6,000 games just on Steam so it gets overwhelming on what to play. I like the random picker though since it may throw something at me I might have just said “not going to play this.” Plus with so many games I tend to forget stuff I bought and a surprise is always fun. I may at times just play something I have been wanting to beat too. Like A Plague Tale I played right away and I am glad I did.

Playing it on PS4 with actual gamepad without using the back touchpad for dodging must be way more enjoyable experience, though.

It was actually pretty nice to not have to use the back pad on the Vita and no motion controls needed to play.

I used the generate button when creating the post. I’m not really good at understanding how most of it works as my posts are pretty basic compared to some of the amazing ones people create. Should I use the link you posted instead?

Arbiter Libera

And I thought I had it rough with almost 3000 games in my library.

I also just put your review through the linked generator with some minor tweaks like linked achievements to match your original style, etc. It seems to work out of the box.

DazeOfWar

Ya I have a bad problem with collecting. lol. My comic collection is pretty massive too. This is one reason i really need to focus on beating or at least playing games in my backlog of hell and not buying anything. There are a few games coming this year I’ll really want but looking at my history it wouldn’t hurt me to just wait and buy them later. I may not play them right away anyways. I will be buying the PS5 though but that’s at the end of the year.

Thanks for the help on the generator stuff. My next post I’ll mess with it more and over time I’d love to get better at my visual presentations.

Arbiter Libera

I also said I’ll put off from buying new games, but Humble Choice alone will bring some new titles my way. Might as well just get DLC for what I like.

I will be buying the PS5 though but that’s at the end of the year.

You create your own problems then. :P

No problem. Generator seems to work wonders, although I’ve found it obviously doesn’t work for non-Steam games which I also occasionally cover.
