20/22 Challenge
Shamelessly stolen from Inspired by Skatr's 20/22 Challenge
As I was saying in my yearly backlog fight review, I have drifted back into the bad habit that had brought me to BLAEO in the first place: I’ve been playing a lot of games but not finishing most of them. And it’s not by a lack of enjoyment but just because I’m somehow getting distracted by another game and then failing to take the time to go back to them. This has to stop.
That’s why Skatr’s challenge seem such a good idea, including the “punishment” clause at the end because I keep failing to stick to lists even tho I put games in it I REALLY wanna play. Hopefully I manage to stick to it this time.
Rules:
- I have to finish 20 of the 22 games on the list.
- The games must have been started before 2022
- They must be games I enjoyed playing. As I was saying, I'm doing mostly this to go back to the unfinished games that got distracted from for whatever reason, but that I loved in the first place. Of course I'm doing this in an attempt to make progress with the backlog, but I don't want it to be a "let's pick whatever would be the fastest to finish and call it a day". My intention is to fully enjoy this challenge, not make it a tedious task.
- I can replace games as I see fit, but I am of course still limited to my unfinished list. I don’t think I'll switch many of them, even though I've been struggling to not have included Darkest Dungeon in the list, so I might switch one of them for it later on. Plus I need a margin in case of a technical issue.
- And finally, I only have this year to finish it - if I don’t, I will be feeding somebody else backlog with one of my favourite game of 2022.
And that’s about it. Of course, I’ll be playing other games during the year but that will be my main side quest for the year, and I’ll do my best to stick to it.

The guy who came up with adding penalties to this challenge must’ve been a real idiot :laugh
I’ve personally had a lot of fun with a few titles on your list (particularly Hades & Thronebreaker) so it’s nice to see those in there. Maybe I should add Loop Hero to mine, although I’ve kinda tried avoiding roguelites for reasons… 👀
Yes you should add Loop hero to your list and go back to it. At least it has an ending point. :sweats
I liked/loved all the games on the list for what I’ve played them, except maybe the presequel which left me kinda meh, but I’ll be playing it coop this time so the motivation is different. We’ll see how it goes. Thronebreaker was one of the first ones I added when making the list with how much I loved playing it and I don’t even know why I left it aside at the time.
I just re-read your comment now that I was checking the post to prepare the 20/23 one and it’s to die for that I swapped Hades out at the very last moment because I thought (thanks to you) that I wouldn’t have time to finish it… and yet still ended up beating it in december but it didn’t make the final list as I was done with that XD
wtf actually finishing good videogames (and without even being forced to), that’s illegal
I know right, crazy, uh ?
Surprised Inscryption is on that list, it looks soooooo good and has so many good opinions! Something else actually distracted you from this? xD
It takes two did. But it doesn’t even always have to be a better game sometimes. And yes Inscryption is an amazing game, it was in my top of games played (but didn’t make the top in here because I only picked between the games I finished).
How will you “beat” House Flipper? Does it have an end…? or does it end when you get 100% achievements?
Also good luck, I hope you have a fun time playing these games!
From what I’ve seen it has a limited amount of houses you can buy, doesn’t it ? (If I see that there is no actual end I’ll switch it for something else I guess). I can’t 100% it because I don’t have the DLCs but I guess I can aim for all the cheevos related to the base game.
And thank you :)
I’m not sure, I only played for 5-8 hours without actually purchasing any houses, but to me it seemed endless. Perhaps it does have an end.
Nice stolen idea. :D BTW, your link to your Unfinished game needs a capital E in Evilblacksheep.
My Unfinished list is mostly made up of games that I don’t care to revisit for one reason or another (these are the 24 Essentially Abandoned games). But there are a handful of games I could revisit. I seem to recall that from time to time there’s a Monthly Theme to finish your unfinished games. I’ll usually revisit some of these games at that time.
Thanks for the post!
Thanks for the correction, i didn’t realize the links were case sensitives.
Yeah this challenge is not for everybody, as I said i only wanna go back to good unfinished games, not make it something tedious. If i was in your case i’d definitely just wait for the related monthly theme.
Thanks for reading!
The name of the challenge is some very clever foreshadowing, only people who know you will understand it means you’ll add 22 games to the backlog for every 20 games beaten
Maybe I should have made the motivation to add a 69h long game to your backlog for each of the ones I manage to beat. glares
I just remembered we don’t know each other and that I want to never talk to or see you again
