June Final Report

4 Years on Steam - 1000 Perfect Games

This month was my 4 year Steam anniversary. I started planning to hit 1000 Perfect Games on that date, but then the Steam 'learning' policy kicked in and I lost 40 Perfects from my Showcase. Not to mention a couple of devs panicking and removing all achievements outright in the days that followed. Anyway, I decided to go for it and do it anyway, with the total counts that still display on trackers. So at exactly 4 years on Steam (to the minute), I turned in my final Borderlands quest for Completionist and:

680K Achievements / 87% Avg. / 1000 Perfect - June 22, 2018, 11:38 PM CDT

I played three games simultaneously with Ghibli this month:

ABZÛ - This took a while to grow on me. The ocean theme just doesn't grab me, but I quite liked the ruins. It is a very lovely game though.

Adam Wolfe - This is the best Hidden Object game I have ever played. It really tries to tell a story and even tie in the HO scenes into that story. In the first hidden object scene, you are looking through a bunch of your old things and narrating each object and your history with it. The first chapter is really outstanding, but unfortunately, it doesn't keep it up and the final chapter is 'only' about the quality of Artifex Mundi (which are known for being good HOGs anyway). Definitely recommend.

Between Me and The Night - I think I liked this one more than Ghibli did, but it was just okay and I don't have much to say about it.

Other Highlights

Borderlands was my #1000 perfect game. I love this series. The truest mark of a favorite game for me is when I keep wanting to go back and play it, even after 100+ hours and 100% achievements, and this is true of all of the Borderlands games.

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle (and Slayaway Camp) are technically excellent puzzle games, but something prevents me from really loving them. The art style is fantastic and I do enjoy the killing animations, but maybe it's too much of the same? Maybe I just prefer minimalist graphics. Anyway, in the last couple weeks, I've finished all of the free levels on Friday the 13th.

One Night Stand - I liked this visual novel. It's a little slice-of-life and the art style is totally original and lovely. It feels really authentic.

Poly Towns - This game is a little broken and not actually that good, but I had a lot of fun with this one. This is mostly because my husband was watching over my shoulder and we started joking about colonialism (razing all the natural resources), building the projects (for the population achievement), etc.

In Tabletop Simulator news, Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 is still going (slowly), and my husband and I are currently binging Pandemic Legacy: Season 2.

I wrote walkthrough guides for a couple of visual novels (The Adventurous Four and Among the Dead). I would not actually recommend either of these though.

Over the course of June...

I bought 63 games in 6 bundles, 15 games from DIG, and 18 games (2 bundles + 1) and 1 DLC directly from Steam.

Congratulations - 1000 perfect games, wow. I always wonder how people like you were getting the patience (and the time) to get all this achievements. Do you play some games twice or more often? Or do you use some guides?

Late response, but yes (if needed) and yes. I always look through the achievements before starting a game to see if there are any missables, and I usually use a guide for those. The rest depends on the quality of the game/how much I’m liking the game.
