If you like the genre, I think you'll enjoy playing it.
It gives a nice amount of challenge, mostly due to the variations over the classic theme; you'll face levels with paddle on both sides, portals spread on the fields, separated fields, and so on. Power ups/downs are of course there to help(?) you :)
Game is not very long, as "story-mode" is composed of just 60 levels. If you're not a "true" fan of the genre though, you may find Grey Cubes a bit boring after a while, mostly because there are some features which tend to drag the life of levels for too long.
First, there aren't basic cubes (those you destroy with one hit; perhaps some on initial levels), you usually need 3+ hit to make them disappear. Power-ups that let you destroy them quicker don't spawn as frequently as I hoped and sometimes it feels like they don't even last enough. To additionally increase your time spent playing a level, certain will have a block/bar that once hit will activate an armature for the blocks, making them unbreakable until you hit that again.
So, armature + portals "strategically" placed between you and some blocks + separate areas you can reach only via said portals + more (didn't list everything) = the challenge, yes, it's real but it's also very close to being frustrating.
To all of this, add that in one of those level I also encountered a bug (or whatever you want to call it, perhaps a design fault) that made a cube flew over a portal, making it unreachable. Only solution, restart the level. And restart again when the same thing happened. If it were to happen a third time, I would have stopped playing altogether (and it was like level 53 or 55!).
If you want more, you may also try Caromble!, currently in Early Access.

No, sorry, you do also avoid falling ice (heh, found the title for the sequel) and collect coins to unlock more basket and a couple of backgrounds.
I liked the idea and eventually won it on sg :)
It basically is a single, neverending level with no progression at all. It can be fun but just for a short time (short = way less than the time needed to unlock every achievement)

I had already played most of this title a while ago but had never reached the good ending.. finally reahed this time (not at the first try though).
Also had a problem unlocking the "Find all the images in the book" achievement, looks like it's kinda bugged. But simply switching language to english triggered it :)
Story is not bad, but replaying it many times to explore all the branches can be boring after a while (that's mostly why I put it down the first time). Anyway, there's a "casual" mode which lets you use as many bookmarks as you want and should also allow you go back after you make any decision and even skip battles and such. Waaay easier! :D
If you enjoy the story, there's also a second installment called Curse of the Assassin (which I have yet to play) or, if you want to stick to gamebooks but want to try something different, you can try Joe Dever's Lone Wolf HD Remastered (still playing this one) :)

So, I started Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings without even knowing all of baseball's rules (Italy is all about calcio. Well, almost.)
It took me some matches to fully understand everything that could happen during a game.
Even so, I managed to win league+playoffs on my first try (short season) using an Ego of 15, which was the default value. Max is 99; tried a match with that value and managed to hit the ball (as batter) only 2-3 times, which was always caught by the pitcher or the player behind them; never reached first base, nor eliminated a batter. lol :v
I had the feeling though, that I could be able to play at higher ego values if I were to keep playing and increasing ego constantly. But it'd take time, so it's not something I plan to do in the immediate future.
I should also learn how the F— to choose which player to pass the ball to. Gave most of the points/runs to opponents because of this >_<
All in all, a nice game :) Give it a try even if you don't know anything about baseball (in this case you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of data the game throws at you, but you can simply ignore them and focus on matches, just as I did)

If you've seen the trailer already or some screenshot you may have noticed that the puzzles are mostly based on maths. A math-puzzle-platformer you may think then. Well, close enough. Turns out it's basic math stuff but with a twist: they are all connected to what you do with the controls (move, jump, aim, etc.) so, in the end, it's a meta-math-puzzle-platformer! =P
If you take into account that there's not even a word in the whole game, you can also add a "visual" tag to that =P
meta-math-visual-puzzle-platformer :v
and it's also a good one :)
Not too long but it will make you stop and think more than once. I admit I resorted to a video because I was stuck toward the end (last or second-to-last puzzle) and, sadly, solution was not so hard but it was something I don't think I would ever tought of :\ And, since I was there, once beaten I watched a video of the end, just to see if perhaps my game kind of failed in loading some ending video.. looks like not, but I've got a different ending that the one in that video. Don't know what triggered it though.
Also, YAY for totally optional achievements! :D I tend to not look much at them before playing to avoid spoiling me the fun of discover stuff, so I beat this game with none of the achievements unlocked. Thanks devs for putting achievements that actually require some work ^_^

afaik this is their first work and it's not a bad one indeed.
You may notice small details that may annoy you (like, two clicks instead of one to reach a common feature, some incertainity between click to pick and again to drop vs. click to pick, drag and release to drop.. you know, small stuff like that, totally understandable and forgivable for a beginning company) :)
Other than that, I don't recall anything negative. Instead I've liked the effort they put in creating it :) There are also new kind of puzzles (at least, new for me; perhaps they are already present in some game which I haven't played yet but I can't know, right?) which I enjoyed :)
Oh, there is another thing that bugged me: an achievement wants you to "Complete the game without skipping dialogues and cutscenes." Problem is every time you launch the game you'll se the intro video. Is that safely skippable? I never dared to, just to be sure, but it was a bit annoying. Other HOGs usually automatically skip intros once you started the game (I think). But, again, beginner's small "mistake", nothing too serious :)

Let's say I was expecting more from it :\
I mean, you can go berserk and kill everyone before they catch you, but that hardly will get you to beating the level.
Playing "by the rules" (why anyway? you're a killer) will turn the game into repetitive-boring-stabs before not too long. And that's a pity.
I would really have liked to see more traps/items/variations in killing people.. hopefully its sequel will have those :)
Don't let this thoughts of mine change your judgement about it: if you think you'll like it, give it a try. There are surely some nice/funny moments (most of the times you try something new) and there's that feeling of "accomplishment" when you beat a level that you'd probably like :)
Oh, I didn't find a way to change tracks while playing a level: either I was too focused on the game to notice the change or the same song looped for the whole level.

Unless you like it and want to play it again and again =P
Started beating levels even faster once I realized that collecting money has no use at all. At first I thought they were needed to buy new cars but nope, they unlock as you progress (not sure if they are tied to the levels or the speed though.. I think the latter).
If it were to be a real game it wouldn't be so bad either but, as it is now, looks more like a cashgrab to me :\

I'll tell you straight: we are here very close to hit the target! I can totally see myself with friends spending every coin trying to beat this as kids :D
Gameplay is pretty basic: reach the end before the time-limit, while avoiding obstacles and other runners.
The only thing I didn't like is that when you crash into another moto you lose all your speed while they not; when it's one of them to crash into you (happens only when you just lost your speed because of a crash and are then slower than the others), you lose all your speed again, while they not. Doesn't sound fair to me.
Not much of a problem though, just keep running, avoid everything and you'll be safe :)
No one's gonna crash into you if you're the fastest ;)
Once you beat the game you'll unlock the classic version of the game too, from the looks of it seems one of those 80/90s handheld games (not gameboy and such, those with a single game you couldn't replace)

Not really a typing game since there are no words in it, just random letters/numbers (I think I've read that Slash it 2 has this mode, but I'm not sure).
Anyway, it can be used as a typing training nonetheless :)
For me, that huge amount of achievements killed the fun. First time I played a game with that many. Apart the sense of accomplishment turned into an "are you making fun of me?", they were intrusive and obnoxius as they diverted my attention just by popping up, plus they sometimes covered one or more letter I was supposed to type but couldn't see because of them, which lead to ending the game (not always to be fair).
There, spent some hours and finally made this wrap-up post. I could have written more but time is not much.
If you have doubts/questions just ask :)
Now I just need to make another (short) one for HOGs beaten this month (4 for now, don’t think they’ll increase)
@Ninglor03: bet you didn’t notice I’ve stolen your layout! =P I didn’t know how to put this many in a single post, thanks ^_^
Aww I wish I could play Darkarta. Sadly it was just removed from Steam like yesterday or 2 days ago :( As an avid HoG fan it feels pretty disappointing and upsetting to be missing out on it.
Congratulations on your progress and I loved the space cat gif next to SG wins :)
It’s back on for what I’ve seen, they did another shitty marketing tentative and steam removed them but they put them back when fixed it. I’m glad I got a key from a massive gib from the dev a while ago because the game looks neat but I’d have remorse giving money to people with such shady practices :/
Oh thanks for letting me know, it seems to be back. I had no idea that they gave away a bunch of keys in a massive giveaway, I feel sad for missing out on it. I was waiting for the summer sale to maybe get a better price on it and I was quite upset when I saw it being removed yesterday.
Thanks ^_^
Feel free to use it.. if you ever win anything, that is =P
Well you certainly made it look nice and I already stole it somewhere else - and didn’t change the style. So really no credit to me ;) :]
Since I’m totally focused on HOGs this month: Yay for finishing it! Although not for the monthly theme.
I’ve just spied on you nonononono, I don’t do things like that! and you totally need to write a post on the theme thing. I know you mentioned games for the list already, so do dare throw in your name and number of completed games ;)
Happy backlog killing!
I played An Assassin in Orlandes also (SG win!). I enjoyed it, but yeah, it wasn’t easy to play in Advanced Mode (or whatever it’s called)…especially if you roll a gimped character. I need to play Curse of the Assassin (also an SG win!)…I’m thinking I might create a guide for it (because I couldn’t find one), but it sounds really time-consuming…we’ll see. :)
I started doing a “map” of AAiO too but, having played the most of it in the past, it turned out to be too much of an hassle.
I’ll try to make one for CotA while playing, if I find a suitable program to help me =P
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaan you 100% Catch a falling star!! Congrats and I’m a bit jealous, I couldn’t reach that 5k score ;__;
Thanks ^_^
It really is more a task of patience than ability.
You should have aquired by now a “hunch” that tells you if you’re gonna get under a star in time.
Use it to play it safe and deposit near you if you think you won’t make it, instead than going the long way; it may look like you’re penalizing your run but it will mostly be the best choice in the end.
Focus on catching those stars! I used to go after all the coins, which frequently led to my defeat. Once I gathered enough to buy everything I completely ignored them :)
I also used to play while doing other stuff.. and stars usually sped up while I was more distracted, thus letting them touch the ground.
Once I removed everything and focused on stars alone, it took me a “couple” of tries.. went from my previous record of 3800+ to 4800+ in a single match, and shortly after I passed the 5k mark too :)
If you haven’t surrended yet, good luck ^_^
Thanks for all the tips, I might actually give it another try. It was really more a fact that after a while I lost patience and made a “stupid” mistake. I’ll try again with your method and see ;)
