Happy to have found quite a few games in my library that are applicable for this month’s theme! Let’s not talk about how much I failed at finishing my space games last month and move on:
I finished a game, you guys. Miracles happen. Even though the clunky controls were very frustrating and there’s not a lot of substance to the story, but I don’t regret having spent an hour with Maui.
My other games that I want to try for the theme:
- Oceanhorn
- Syberia
- The Ship: Murder Party
- theHunter: Primal
- A Story About My Uncle
- DmC
- BioShock
- Dreaming Sarah
- Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes
- Sunless Sea
- Race The Sun
But the only one on this list that I definitely plan to finish this month is DmC, since I’m already about a third of the way through and enjoying it a lot. Now that No Man’s Sky has been delayed and I still have time off work that I took especially for that, I can use that time to play other games, I guess. (Pro tip: never request vacation time for a game release, kids.)
DMC is absolutely gorgeous as well.
Just finished it and have to say the gameplay is smooth as silk.
Ya, every screenshot comes out looking great! I’m terrible at the combat but having a lot of fun with it anyway. :D And the soundtrack is awesome.
Ohhh yeah, … The first 10 minutes of the game got me hooked. Absolutely fantastic beats.
I wish I could record that instead of a screenshot.
Is there a way to get the track list from a game?
I guess the best way is to look for it on google :) The band Combichrist released a whole soundtrack album for it which is really great. That’s actually how I discovered the game - I was a fan of the band before that!
I’ve seen a lot of hype around No Man’s Sky. I guess the core idea of the game is many gamers’ dream come true, hopefully it delivers. A shame they didn’t make it in time for your holiday. :(
I honestly didn’t expect them to delay it just 3 weeks before the planned release. Unfortunately it was too late to reschedule my holiday, but ah, I’ll enjoy my free time anyway. :) There’s a chance it’ll be disappointing because the hype is sooo over the top, but I’m trying not to raise my expectations too high!
You should definitely play Bioshock! I have it as well and every single comment on my games list for this theme said to play Bioshock, so it must be as good as everyone says it is.
It does have a huge fanbase. I actually played a couple hours of it last year, but the setting made me feel so uneasy and a bit claustrophobic, so I never went back to it. T_T But I want to know how the story continues.
(by the way I friended you on steam, since you seem like a funny person and we share a love for Assassin’s Creed :3)
Playing it on very easy is always an option - basic splicers die in 1-2 hits, Big Daddies can be killed after a minute or two, way faster if you have your granade launcher. You can store 10 health kits, and a fight like that will use up 1-2 or such, but it’s a rare thing - technically you can die, almost enlessly unlikely :)
This helps some, but yeah, the claustrophobic part won’t go away.
That’s useful info, thank you!
I see, I don’t love that claustophobic kind of feeling either, but adam1224 is right in that it may make things less uncomfortable for you if you play on easy. I honestly play most games on easy anyway (for some reason that is a sin in the gaming community i don’t get it??). I’ve got some really high expectations for bioshock, it better be damn special lol
(i accepted your request, thanks! i’m always down to talk about assassin’s creed :) i have a bit of an obsession with the series…)
Nope I play a lot of games on easy too! I get easily frustrated when games are tough, most people look at it as a challenge but I just get angry and want to ragequit lol. I’d rather make progress in the story than try to defeat an enemy over and over again.
Anyway I actually played Bioshock Infinite long before I started Bioshock and loved it and I can’t wait to replay it once I get through the first two games. It’s mostly set in more open, wide spaces so it didn’t have those negative effects on me, it’s a really beautiful game.
(I don’t know if you’re someone who likes watching games on twitch, but Noah Watts, the voice actor of Connor in AC3, does frequent streams on his channel xvbladerunnervx - I’m a moderator in his chat and we’ve gathered a really friendly, small community of passionate AC fans there. I’m goodbyecrow on twitch, if you ever feel like hanging out you’re welcome to stop by! :))
I’m exactly the same, if I try something too many times I will outright quit if I’m angry enough. It’s why I really want to play Dark Souls but I’m afraid I’ll rage quit like immediately lol. I play games mostly for the story and fun of the combat, not frustration and annoying challenge (which is partly why I love AC so much). I noticed that Infinite looked so different to the other two games, that’s so interesting that they changed the vibes of the series so drastically.
That’s so funny, I just joined twitch recently specifically to watch Noah’s streams! I’ve seen you in the chats :) What a small world. I’m char_kel on twitch, Noah has trouble pronouncing my username lol. I see a lot of the same people watching his streams and it really does seem like such a great community (full of AC fans that don’t hate on AC3 - my favorite game ever). I haven’t been able to watch a lot recently but I’m really enjoying his Witcher 3 streams. :) If you don’t mind me asking, how’d you become a moderator for Noah?
omg yes I’ve seen you around the chat!! That’s so funny, it’s a SMALL TINY WORLD. AC3 is my favourite too and I’ll forever be bitter that they didn’t give Connor the ending he deserved. I love him so much.
A couple months ago, we had started talking quite a bit and I never missed a stream, so Noah made me a mod one night when he was streaming late - all of the mods live in Europe, so they were all asleep and he needed someone to keep an eye on the chat. (I’m in Europe too but I have messed up sleep schedules, so I’m usually there to hold the fort during late night streams.)
I’m enjoying his Witcher streams too, even though I’m not a fan of the series myself. I hope I’ll be seeing you there again soon! :D
#giveconnorasequel2k16 lol but for real I’m really bitter too, he deserves so much more than what he was given. And I’m sorry but I refuse to believe he died the way that abstergo handbook says he died, it’s bullshit. Anyway enough of my bitterness, I don’t want to be to all negative about everything.
Never missing a stream, that’s really impressive especially since you live in a completely different time zone. Fortunately I’m in the same time zone as Noah so I don’t have to deal with that, but kudos to you for continuing to mess up your sleep schedule to mod for him haha. I’m a fan of the series but my pc can’t run Witcher 3 and I can’t play games with M&K right now so I’m kind of living vicariously though him and it’s great. You’re doing good work as a mod btw, and I’ll try to make it to as many streams as I can! :) Hopefully now that it’s summer I’ll have more than enough time to watch every stream.
I’ve thought the reason why many people say games should be difficult originates from the earlier era - the times when Arcade gaming was a big thing and companies like Atari and Nintendo made leaps of progress in video games with their consoles. Many classic games were brutally difficult or they were designed to progressively get harder up to the point where the player fails (I’m thinking of Arcade games & high scores).
The difficulty is a huge aspect of the whole game experience, and every player should be able to have it tailored to their own liking. I’m happy that difficulty settings have become almost a standard in games :) Anyway, that’s my two cents.
That totally makes sense, I’ve noticed that some people that criticize others for playing on easy have been playing games since those earlier eras. Of course that’s a very small minority though. I don’t understand people that challenge themselves with brutally hard game modes, but I think it’s really cool that they like doing that. But it’s really petty when those exact people hate on someone else because they don’t like frustration. So I totally agree with you :)
