Short post. I didn’t play many games this month.
I wasn't going to play this, but I saw a bunch of people playing Sekiro and I felt like playing a souls game. It's still the best game of trilogy. I absolutely love this game. It's the 3rd time I've played it.
About the REMASTERED ed.: It still has most of the bugs that were present in the Prepare to Die edition. The graphical overhaul wasn't that big. Honestly, if it wasn't 75% off for DS1 owners, I wouldn't have bought it. At that price, I do recommend because it's still easier than using the ds1+mods.
Fnord's post got me to reinstall the game for another playthrough. However, one thing led to another and I ended up playing 2-3 different nations. Got some interesting achievements:
1. A Hero’s Welcome: Starting as Karaman, form the Sultanate of Rum (0.4% of players unlocked it)
2. Breaking the Yoke: As Ryazan, own Saratov, Crimea and Kazan while being independent (0.2%)
3. All belongs to Mother Russia: Form Russia (8.3%)
The first 2 were hard. The last one, was quite easy. I brought my total % back to 30%, which is nice. Paradox will most likely ruin this with a new dlc in a couple months, though. xD
I'll definitely try some other interesting nation in the future, but for now, I'll mark as beaten.
Quick summary: Charlie is a 32-year-old developmentally disabled man who has the opportunity to undergo a surgical procedure that will dramatically increase his mental capabilities. This procedure had already been performed on a laboratory mouse, Algernon, with remarkable results. Charlie will be the first human subject.
This book is amazing. I'm not going to spoil anything because it's a great first experience, but I'll just say that I finished it in just 2 days and I usually take a month to read something this long. I highly recommend this book.
Oh, wow…that one (Flowers for Algernon) brings back memories…we read the short story version (the version without the sex) in seventh grade, and I loved it. I should go back and read the novel version someday.
I’m surprised that there is a pg-13 version. There is only 2 sex scenes in the original (at least, I think I bought the original) and they’re both pretty tame.
Well, this is (North) America you’re talking about, the book was highly censored. And we were only 12 when it was assigned to us, so based on what I’ve read about the novel version, it’s just as well we only read the short story version.
EU IV! Such a great game. I am always happy to see others enjoy it as well. Got to give it a go soon again, I think.
Nice.
I couldn’t decide what type of run I was going to turn my own Dark Souls Remastered experience into. I ended up settling on a no armor run since my guy was fat rolling everywhere at first with his starting armor loadout. So far so good lol. Will probably go with the Thief loadout next time around though. Went with the Knight this time since the starting stats are a bit more user friendly.
I was between the Thief and the Wanderer. I chose the latter and decided to go for a pure agi build with a katana and I really liked it. I found the Iaito at blighttown and got it to +15 quite easy since it only takes some titanite shards. It scales really well with agi (A class) + 33% bleed damage per hit. It’s soooooooooo good. The only problem is that its durability is really low. You need to repair a lot.
Have you ever tried a mage build? I never tried, but I really wanna do it someday. I heard it’s really fun.
I have done a pyro run, but never a straight mage run before. I’d like to though.
If I had to make a list of the scifi “essentials”, Flowers for Algernon would definitely be up there. It’s one of those books that stuck with me long after I’ve read it. I’m really glad you liked it :D
Just for curiosity: what are the other essentials?
I’ll try to make you a short list this weekend. Sorry for the late reply, it’s been a busy week.
Don’t worry. I was just curious. It’s not really necessary. :)
Then without thinking too much about it (which actually should be a better way to make that kind of list), I’d say the Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy (Adams), Do androids dream of electric sheep (Dick), Inverted world (Priest), The man in the high castle (also Dick), The lottery (a really short story, Jackson) and Hyperion (Simmons)
And it really pains me to recommend it, but Ender’s Game should be in this list too, even if the author (Orson scott card) is a really awful person in my eyes. If i had discovered where his opinions stand before reading the book when i was a teen, I’d never have given the book a try.
Thanks for the list! The Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy is the only one I’ve already read. I’ll take a look into Orson. I never heard about him.
