Another sg win down
..and 5th game beaten for October
I’m not a big fan of FPSs and I usually give higher priority to other genres (unless there’s a LAN and friends to kill!)
With snipers, though, the story is a bit different: you have to plan your action to not get discovered (and killed) so I tend to associate them with stealth.
In this one you don’t have much freedom; either if you are alone or have a companion, you basically have to go from A to B, kill everyone, repeat.
The only difference is that when you have company you can move faster ‘cause he will be doing all the checks and tell you when to move/stop/shoot.
It’s so strange to not have anywhere to roam around.. luckily, for the RPG-er side of me, there were hidden treasures to find.
Sadly, I did non collect ‘em all :\ I was prone to do it but I did not know what to look for. They are all called “treasure” but in every mission (or chapter? I’m not sure ‘cause I started months ago) they are a different object than the previous one. So I most probably missed some ‘cause I didn’t realize they were what I was looking for.
Audio part was pretty good (sounds and music), even the voices were not bad :)
On the graphic side, locations were amazing. Some a bit less enjoyable ‘cause it was dark but others were stunning. Facial expressions were the most weird to me but that’s normal, as human movements are the hardest to reproduce.
I experienced some lag in those videos they play while the mission is loading but nothing serious (basically they started, stopped until the level was fully loaded and the resumed.. could also have been my laptop’s fault)
Achievement for completing Act 2 didn’t unlock and don’t know why.
I’m still wondering if do another run (perhaps on easy) to collect all the treasures, and fix that too. Only time will know =P
┌──────┐ │ 8/10 │ └──────┘ Hold your breath and try to silently head-shot terrorists all around the world, one bullet at time. Don't forget to enjoy the landscape in the meantime!
Scavengin’ time!
Here’s what I found in the game:
Tier1 item3 | Tier5 item1 | Tier5 item3 | Tier5 item4 |
---|---|---|---|
A body (In an awkward position) |
The massacre |
Up close and personal |
Got you in my sights |
Took the picture used for A body (In an awkward position)
before this month, when I had started to play Sniper Ghost Warrior 2.
If this is not ok, here’s an alternative from the same game:
I had some problems with this one. vsync just didn’t work, mostly noticeable during the videos. Dont know if you noticed some choppy cut scenes
As just written above, videos were the worst graphic part to me =P
Sounds like you had still fun with this game (despite the missing achievement and that), great to see, and that it was a win from Steamgifts that got finished is always a nice bonus :)
I used to not like FPS games at all, but it all changed when I played Far Cry 2. I loved the combination of an FPS game with the open world and some stealth elements. Since then I got better at FPS games and started to enjoy them a lot more. I’m still not entirely a fan of stealth gameplay, it can be nice sometimes, but I always get too disappointed if I get discovered, especially in games that force you to replay the same section again if you get discovered. As an added “spice” it can be fun, but for me not so much when everything relies on it.
I have Sniper: Ghost Warrior 1 in my backlog and I feel like I should give it a try, but I can’t shake the feeling that it’s just too plain and doesn’t offer anything new. Your review makes me think that I’m being too judgemental. I enjoy stealth games so I probably should get some bit of entertainment out of it. :)
The screenshots look really nice actually. Is the animation quality good as well?
I think your sensation may be right, if you play(ed) lot of these games.
To me, strong point of this title are locations. I did enjoy the sniping part but be aware that in the end it’s not stealth; they’re all infiltration mission but there are moments when you’re supposed to get caught and they’ll notice you no matter what. (usually these moments lead to the most chaotic scenes, with lot of enemies coming at you)
I’d say yes. I don’t recall anything strange while playing. Even animations looked fine except, as already said, some facial expressions. Perhaps the worst were some video here and there.
Yes, facial expressions can be forgiven because they are difficult to animate. Even many triple-A titles make mistakes in that area. Thanks for your insight!
