It was painful wracking my brain solving the puzzles but they are oh so worth it. This is an Alternate Reality Game, and I think this is the second game I’ve played, all from Alice & Smith. I put this off despite the low HLTB hours coz some of the puzzles are challenging. I remember thinking I’d need to learn advanced cryptography just to solve some of them (I didn’t). But solving the puzzles is pure pleasure that I kept thinking I should try just one more puzzle, until I get stumped again and just put it aside.
It’s helpful to get some help though. There are five clues available each day. The community is also quite active. I asked for help there and within a day (or two?) I got a reply. And I think anyone playing this would need someone to push them in the right direction. Some answers simply aren’t common sense, or you could easily miss them while going through the voluminous tomes from Wikipedia.
I’d recommend this for those who like puzzles and mystery.
Oh man I have this in my library because I loved The Black Watchmen by them! Seriously, check it out sometime! I was playing it together with a friend in real life and the puzzles were intense - like using social engineering to send real emails to (a game dev owned) email address to hack (game dev owned) websites and stuff. The best puzzle game ever imo.
I hadn’t gotten around to play Ahnayro just because I thought it was a self-contained single player game. Had no idea it had a community and all. I should give it a look again. Thanks for reminding me!
You’re welcomoe! I have TBW and NT4! Part of the reason I wanted to complete this coz I want to get into those two next. I think this game is easier than those two.
It is a self-contained single-player game, but some puzzles are too challenging for me so I had to ask for help. If you’ve gone through TBW, I think this game might be easier for you. :)
I have never heard of the game, the graphics look really good and have a unique touch to them. While I don’t think the game is for me, it’s always interesting to see what others play and enjoy. Thanks for the short review!
You’re welcome! It was hard for me to get into the game, but I kinda pushed myself to it coz I wanna clear my backlog, and also play the other (I assume much harder) ARGs from the same company.
