I decided to play Hope for Love today. Out of all my PA games, this is the one I dreaded playing the most. Since it has mostly negative reviews, I looked at them a few days ago, and there’s no save option, so I had to play the whole game in one go.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m thankful I won it, but the story itself was just..unbearable. The way it was written, it sounded more like a very long poem than a short story, and I was so confused as to what was going on the whole time. It’s also not even finished. Apparently you get to chapter 13 and it just stays there. It’s definitely not meant to be the end of the game because there’s no actual conclusion.
I still don’t know what this line was supposed to say. We’re at a dinner party of sorts, so “planting” in the context I’m thinking of makes no sense.
That dress is most definitely not white.
Final chapter
Annnd this is the scene my game stopped on. I feel like I pressed almost every button on my keyboard and nothing continued the story, so I imagine this is “the end”.
I don’t recommend this VN. I had to take a short five minute break from reading it while doing this because the writing was so broken and confusing at parts. And I can deal with that alone, but the fact that the story isn’t even completely written and there’s no save function? That’s not for me.

I’ve only played Ame no Marginal for 2 hours according to Steam -likely closer to 3-, and I finished it. o_o
I guess it’s time to do an update.
This one will be a lot shorter than my World End one simply because I honestly don’t have much to say. The story was super interesting and I finished it all in one sitting (I actually had plans I pushed back because I wanted to see the end of the story, haha). I was a little disappointed at first because I thought the way the path worked, each set of 2 options was a choice. But the way it actually is, where they are both separate parts of the story, actually worked out really well.
A few comments on the story:
I don’t know why, but this picture’s a bit eerie to me.
When I first looked at the backlog, the ‘heroine’ was talking and I assumed that was the protagonist, so I was quite surprised when I found out the MC is a guy.
Sorry I don’t have much to say about this one. I wanted to try just focusing on the story this time around (rather than commenting on so many things in the game). Plus it’s hard to say much without spoilers.
I’ll do an actual BLAEO review later on, I think, once I have more time to think about the game/my final thoughts. I’ll say it again though, it was really, really good though, and I’d definitely recommend it to others.
Closer Than You Think- PA post:
Warning: Spoilers
Well, this is a great start. The game opens windowed, no options menu, and I still cant use f12 to screenshot.
The food looks good though. I probably won’t post much on this VN because I’m updating whilst playing & I already accidentally scrolled through a few lines of dialogue just by moving my trackpad in the wrong way. Thankfully, by doing so, I also found the backlog.
“She just wants to send me to the store again”
What? We just came back from the store with bread.
Woaaah, I just told a guy I loved him, and I (as the reader, not the character) don’t even know his name yet.
The art’s really not bad though. It’s quite cute; I like it.
Nameless boy rejected me, oof.
Hello there, new love interest. I assume you also happen to go to my new school.
I’m curious what these transitions are. I want to say they separate chapters or something, but I may be wrong.
Wait, maybe this new guy named Thomas is my love interest?
Jeez, boy, calm down. I accidentally ran into you.
uh…. what happened
thankfully, it fixed itself at the next line.
I just realized the phone is a pineapple phone.
James is now Cyril. I’m curious if that’s his name in a different language or if they just accidentally put the wrong name.
At least we feel the same way about math (Amelie and I)
Rip, James and Amelie started dating, and he immediately cheats on her with a new girl.
Annnd she moved past it immediately. Props to her, I suppose.
:o It’s Valentine’s Day and he just blatantly told me he wasn’t waiting for me…and Amelie’s his girlfriend.
This picture’s pretty cute.
The game’s not continuing anymore and it’s not going to the credits, but I can’t do anything, so…I guess this is the end of the game? I think I just have to exit out of the game. It won’t even let me save anymore from this scene.

I’ll have to take a break from Doom whilst I play my other PA games, but I definitely plan to go back to it.
Soooo…next game: World End Economica ep 3
I’ve been playing it alongside Doom, so this isn’t a daily update like Doom was. I also won’t be able to talk much about the game since it’s a visual novel and yknow
completely story-based.
But just in case, disclaimer: There may be mild and/or accidental spoilers below. Read at your own risk.
I don’t think this even needs to be stated, but the art is adorable.
I really don’t know what it is about this game in particular, but there’s something about the art that caught my eye compared to other VNs. Maybe it’s the details they put into not only the character but also the background.
I absolutely love these video sequences put in near the beginning of VNs too. My first experience with one was from when I played Mystic Messenger, I believe, so they always bring back warm feelings about MM.
Man, this guy has a defined nose.
It’d be interesting to meet someone in real life who calls themself (themselves?) Eagle.
To the king of pessimism.
This is my favorite girl. She’s adorable.
Going into this series, I didn’t expect economics to be one of its major points; that’s definitely a really unique aspect. I literally learned what a “naked short” is from this VN. (Copy and paste definition for anyone else who is curious: “Naked short selling, or naked shorting, is the practice of short-selling a tradable asset of any kind without first borrowing the security or ensuring that the security can be borrowed, as is conventionally done in a short sale. “)
As serious as a moment as this is, I really wanted them to kiss right here.
..Is that bad? 😬
————————–SPOILERS COMING UP (Sorry, I had to talk about this part)—————————–
Skip to the end dashed line to avoid them.
I won’t have much to say here anyway. I don’t know what I could say besides: ;—;
This is probably one of my favorite scenes in the game. I’m not sure if it’s an ability to relate to his words or what, but it tugs at my heartstrings even just looking at the pictures I took to post here. ;-;
—————————-SPOILERS END——————————————————————————————
Just another appreciation picture for the art.

———————————————SPOILER END—————————————————————-
Ay, new modes. At least, I’m like 96% certain CG mode and Music mode weren’t there before.
I explored the HD edition as well to see how different it was. The graphics don’t really look different, which is what I expected because of “HD”. It seems like instead, they changed the layout of things a bit and also some of the config menu, which I’ll talk about more in a sec.
Pictures from HD mode:
End breakdown/review:
Overall, I loved the game. It’s beautiful and the dialogue is pretty well done.
A few issues I did have, although maybe I did something wrong, were
- I couldn’t open the Steam Overlay whilst playing
- I couldn’t use F12 to take pictures. While playing, I had to alt+tab and put the pictures in Paint, which can be a little immersion-breaking to say the least.
- Auto mode is a wonderful addition, but obviously, it can’t be super consistent. Some dialogue is really short, so you have to wait awhile for auto mode to go onto the next text box, and some dialogue is very long, to the point where I worried about finishing it before it went on to the next text box. This wouldn’t be worrisome, but I didn’t see a “backlog”/text history while playing.
Now, a lot of these issues appear to have been fixed in the HD version. In that version, I could open Steam overlay, take pictures via Steam, and there was a text backlog that you could view while playing.
So now I’m going to discuss auto mode a bit more. Not a lot of VNs that I’ve played have this option. Either it’s read all the dialogue, skip read dialogue, or skip all dialogue. Even if auto mode isn’t always the most convenient, it was really nice to just be able to lay back and enjoy the story (..and not accidentally clicking and continuing the story before intended, haha). So yeah, overall, I looooved auto mode. and the game in general of course. Sure, I did have some issues, but none of them major and I would 100% deal with them all again.

While doing my PA stuff, I think Im going to break up my posts, but I’ll go back to my weekly posts later on. I played Doom 3 on Thursday and Saturday. …I may have forgotten to update both days, but I’ll try to get caught up today when I play.
Basically all that’s necessary though: the game added spiders as an enemy. This game has suddenly become 10x more terrifying.
[Technically] 01/15/19
It’s midnight right now. I unexpectedly got really exhausted and am definitely not playing Doom this late at night, so I’ll have to do my update in the morning.
..Or night since it’s 9 pm now, but here we go!
So far, I believe my weapons are a pistol, shotgun, and a machine gun. My preferred weapon is actually the shotugn, which is different to other games [I typically use a machine gun due to my lack of ability to aim properly]. I think its because I’ve realized when I get spooked by an enemy, I shoot and accidentally end up killing the enemy a lot.
Falling body parts, how nice.
Here is the lovely machine gun just mentioned.
New friend! :) This guy was leading me around dark areas. I really doubt he can die, but I defended him with my life anyway because I didn’t want to walk around alone. Thaat’s why my health is so low in this picture.
SPOILER ALERT:
I feel really bad, although I knew this would happen. He said he’d guide me around as long as I helped him get out of the compound or whatever. And of course, he died before that could happen. :(
END SPOILER ALERT
Getting through the Alpha Labs has taken five years, and I didn’t even get to meet up with the Bravo team.
The last thing I thought I would do in this game is play a more intense -and deadly- version of the crane game. It was a nice relaxing moment away from being spooked by things constantly though.
Plus I got to incinerate things.
The pistol is rough in the later stages of the game, especially since the armored machine gun enemies. Speaking of, Doom has some intense…zombies?? They seem like zombies, but they can operate guns, move decently fast, etc.
So far, this has been my worst moment in the game honestly. It didn’t click in my head that “activate” and “open” are different buttons, so when the guy in the chamber asks you to get him out, I thought it was a trap to kill him. After re-loading about three times and trying to look up the code for the locked door in the next area -this honestly took probably like twenty minutes-, I finally found a guide that said you have to uh…click the open chamber button. This is why I don’t play puzzle games.
Then again, maybe this means I should play more puzzle games because this isn’t even a puzzle.
But hey, he’s alive! Annnddd he doesn’t follow me for the rest of the game either.
My save names are absolutely awful. I’m so sucked into the game when I play that I just quickly type a number and click save. I’ve only created a new save [newsave2, newsave3] when I ran out of space in the name line.
Reminder why I should do my updates right away. Why on earth did I take this picture
THIS PART WAS ALSO SO AWFUL. I was like “Oh no, do I have to jump?”
I jumped annnd plummeted to my death. “Oh, guess not.”
I then noticed a ladder. “Whoops. So that’s where I go.”
I looked around for maybe 10-15 minutes in the lower area, finding supplies and enemies, but no way up on the other side.
I then try to jump again, once again plummeting on my death. At this point, I decide it’s not worth doing the lower area again.
Turns out you have to hold shift AND run. Otherwise, your character does a pathetic little hop that’s essentially just stepping off the platform.
Even after figuring out how to jump, I died one or two more times trying to get through this area. Sadly, this was not the end of the “platforming” in this game. In fact, it was just the beginning.
Here’s a series of clips documenting this journey.
More ““platforming””
This boss(?)/enemy was a major pain. It’s a bit hard to tell what’s a boss in this game though; I think this was the first real one.
Another robot friend! :) I’m curious if my lil buddies can die or not.
Oh, I also have a plasma gun now. It’s pretty awesome. I think it’s my new favorite gun.
Annnd human friend who also dies right away.
Sadly, these are now approximates, but they shouldn’t be too far off.

Boy, it’s been awhile. Let’s start the new year with being more active on here hopefully.
Today, I decided to start a Playing Appreciated game I won- Doom 3. I get scared very easily, so this was not s good idea, considering I started it around 7 pm. This will be a bit different from my other reviews because I’ll be dating my progress as I go through the game [for PA, since this game has no achievements].
Warning: Mild spoilers?? I’ll be making references to things in game obviously, but I don’t plan to talk about any major plot points yet. I don’t even know my character’s name. :’ ) Is it my player name? I swore he had his own name, but I missed it.
I decided to play the game as recruit because I was like “Oh, this will make all the combat really easy. I can just focus on story this way.”
I’m not an FPS person, which the easy difficulty made very clear. It was much harder than it should have been.
I love this thing, but I keep pressing escape instead of tab when I want to open it. >:c
This guy’s eyes are terrifying. I’ve come to the conclusion that either he’s the bad guy, everyone else here is the bad guy, or both of them are the bad guy.
I played this game accidentally at first and then found out if you punch the turkeys enough, they explode into a bunch of tiny pieces. Most horrifying part of the game tbh. 0/10, will not play Super Turbo Turkey Puncher again.
This might not be the right picture, but I knew I was going to comment on it. The sergeant (I think he’s the guy in the back?) is annoying. He keeps complaining that I’m moving too slow. Let me get my supplies so I dont die pls.
This little guy freaked me out at first, but in our next encounter, he was a friendly face. Why’d you have to leave me, lil buddy? ;-;
This is a rip-off. I come to Mars for you guys and you won’t even give me the good stuff.
Hello, second friend. I miss you too.
Oh, no. What on earth is this beast?
First session: 78 minutes
First impressions so far: I planned to do a longer sitting, but I couldn’t do it this late at night. The game is interesting so far although it’s not really my personal taste. When I reach what I need for PA, I don’t think I’ll finish the game riiiight away. While I wasn’t surprised, the game doesn’t have subtitles and I’m so dependent on subtitles in games that there is an immediate level of disinterest in games that don’t have them. It is really refreshing though to have a game out of my comfort zone that I don’t know anything about going in. Nowadays, I usually know a decent amount about the games I play before playing them, thanks to YouTube lets plays, trailers, forums, etc. I was trying to get to the point where I contacted Bravo, but it was taking forever, so I gave up for now. I hope I get to meet up with some people soon and…go through the rest of the game with them (definitely not happening) because it’s very comforting to have an NPC buddy. At least give me the little robot dudes back. Also, it took me forever to realized med kits are used right away. The one time I reached 1 HP, I was like “WHERE’S ALL MY MEDKITS?” Why do you give me two medkits right next to each other, game, if using one fills my health? Maybe I’m wrong about how it works, but it seems like they immediately fill my health to 100. Overall, despite the occasional con, the game is pretty enjoyable and I’m glad I won it. As with all my games, I’ll definitely finish it someday, although I don’t see myself binge-playing it until I finish like I have with some others I’ve won. If you’re reading this, thanks though, giver, for the very unique [and scary .-.] experience. <3

Update: I’ve been playing Stardew mainly since my last update. Some of the achievements my friend and I couldn’t get before got patched, so I’ve gotten the Legend achievement (get 10 million total), Full House (had been done but was glitched), Mystery of the Stardrops (get all seven stardrops, was also broken so we couldn’t get the marriage stardrop), and the achievement for completing the Joja route. We finished the Joja stuff in two days real time and by Fall 4th in game time. Now, I’m just working on the Journey of the Prairie King stuff. Five days ago, I won a game called Mighty Gemstones on Steamgifts. Yesterday, I won the DLC and skin pack for it, so I completed all 100 levels. Now, I just need to finish My Beastly Lovers. I played it a little bit on Thursday (Aug. 30), but things got kind of grindy so I couldn’t finish it in time. Once I finish it, I think I’ll post a review of both Mighty Gemstones and MBL.
Managed to finish MBL. I was the first person to 100% it. :)
09/02/18
Played a bit of Snake Classic today. Thankfully, since I didnt close the game, I didn’t have any issues with achievement unlocks. Some people had it break permanently from what I read.
09/03/18
I plan to play a few Christmas games I’ve won on SG today and maybe start Bayonetta.
Finally got a new laptop! It came in late Sunday. I haven’t been playing much since my boyfriend has been visiting, but I did start playing a new game called 2 Planets Fire and Ice. It’s a simple match 3 with two planets you can do- the ice one which has no time limits or the fire one which does. I’ve been doing the ice planet since I’m awful at match 3s. I might consider it completed after finishing that since I think the fire planet will be nearly impossible for me and not challenging in a way I consider to be fun.
I haven’t played anything today (Thursday, July 26), but I’m trying to convince myself to start Devil’s Daughter.
Update
06/08/18
I’ve been slacking on updates because summer classes started up so I’ll do one big summary and try to piece together the last few weeks in a month when class ends. Basically, I’ve just been playing lots of Stardew Valley in my free time. The multiplayer beta was released and I was OBSESSED. I now have 34/40 achievements although I’ve accomplished slightly more than that and the achievements just didn’t trigger. :| I’ve also been playing one of the many Sudoku games I own with my boyfriend. We’ve done all the DLC levels and are on level 13 out of the normal ones.
After I write this post, I’m going to play My Beastly Lovers which I won on Steamgifts earlier this week. It was a Playing Appreciated giveaway.
06/25/18
So… my laptop’s fried a week or two ago, aka I can’t play any games til I get a new one probably. On the plus side, I have a backup computer for homework. It’s terrible for gaming, but I was able to idle JC2-MP at 6 FPS. I got the ‘play for a month’ achievement finally. :)
First Week of May
05/01
4 SC achievements unlocked. At this point, all I’m really doing in F13KP is the daily death puzzles.
05/02
7 SC achievements unlocked.
05/03
No progress. Last final today, so tomorrow, break starts.
05/04
Oh boy, today was a BIG day. I played and finished several games.
This morning, I decided to start with Gone Home. I’ve played through it already, but did so way before they added achievements, so I had none of those unlocked. It took an hour or two (and some frustration about having to speedrun on a laggy computer + using a trackpad), but I 100%ed that.
I then went onto a more casual game- Animals Memory: Cats. It’s only eighteen levels but there’s 50 “Play a level” achievements for whatever reason.
I got all the achievements in the Arkanoid games (!4RC4NOID! technically but thats annoying to write out) and played those. It didn’t take long since all the games are is keeping the ball from falling out of the map. Idling KOHBEEP edition was annoying though because I stopped the spam achievement unlock halfway through to restart Steam and the achievements idle from the very beginning each time, so I had to wait a few hours for that.
I played some Dream Daddy, specifically through Damien’s dates, Craig’s, and Mat’s last date. I played and finished Santa Run (will do reviews of all of these later), Dad’s coworker (had to idle this one overnight because you have to be clicked into the game), and Dab, Twerk, and Dance.
05/05
Finished Dream Daddy finally :D (last date completion order: Hugo, Brian, Robert, and then Joseph).
It’s currently 11 am and I’m about to play WEED.
