January update

- Good graphic
- Nice story as background
- Geeky physic humor
- Fluid and responsive controls
Cons:
- Control point system which forces player to run through big chunks of already beaten areas after restarting game
Conclusion:
I really like this game. For science background and bad physical puns found in journals, and this feeling of lightness when I ran around. I have dreams like that, when I don't quite fly. Just feel like gravity doesn't hold me down, so I can jump around really high and really far. And this game nailed this feeling.
Apart from that game has nice story that's set up during times of Manhattan Project, nicely designed maps, and abilities that are unlocked during gameplay and give feeling of nice progression
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic ⭐️⭐⭐☆☆
Action16,3 hours playtime, no achievements
- Quite a lot of background objects to destroy
- Sword fighting system that I liked 10 yearts ago
- Simple RPG level up / ability system
Cons:
- Inability to use alt+TAB without bringing up main menu
- Most weapons are ineffective for some enemies, so only viable way to kill them is... kicking them on spikes or off the ledge
- Maps are small, but sometimes it's possible to not notice this one jump place needed to progress game further
- As always bows and magic are inferior to swords
Conclusion:
This game dated xD I played it when I was teen, and bought it during this steam sale to beat it again. Combat didn't give me this "wow" impression like it did all those years ago. Also simple things like shooting ropes to reach higher places or ability to destroy barrels wasn't so amazing as it was 10 years ago. Because then it felt as something fresh and innovative in comparison to other action games I played.
Still I liked it. Not because it's good game, but because I liked it when I played it for first time. So nostalgia, not actual gameplay.
- Different characters play different role at party
- Diverse set of abilities to choose from
- Advanced hero creation system
- Ability to beat whole game in co-op
Cons:
- Lack of voting system in co-op part and overall bad implementation of co-op module
- Bland companions
- Broken quest marks
- Badly designed journal and shop system
- Not memorable story
Conclusion:
It was yes and no experience. Ability to beat whole game in co-op is nice. But implementation of co-op module is bad. Only host can pick up dialogue options. It's impossible to share inventory or do shopping at the same time as co-op player (when 2nd player click on merchant, 1st is kicked out from shop menu). It's impossible to use client player stats (like charisma or intelligence) to get pass conversation prompts, only host stats are checked.
Game also suffers from bugs. Like broken quest markers, getting stuck in conversation boxes, or just getting stuck in some action when co-op partner decides to click on something. And it requires game restart.
Roles at party are diverse, someone need to walk around and detect traps and disarm them + do lock picking, other NPC need to play as tank, and others as DPS. So game is diverse here. Still NPCs that are in party aggro enemies way too much. Also enemies can get stuck in some place (esp those huge jelly cubes) which makes killing them ridiculously easy.
Overall it's not good game. You can't also buy it now on Steam, as it was removed from shop. But you can play it in co-op and enjoy it. I don't think I'd want to beat it in single player though.
Next month gaming:
There are no plans, as I don't think I will have much time to play in February at all xD
Dark messiah got 3? i would only gave it one.. maybe i should try to get back to that game.
It depends if you like old games with old mechanic.
I did play in this game those 10 years ago, so I didn’t feel it’s bad now. But at the same time I tried to play in System Shock 2 like 4 times and couldn’t force myself to continue. As whole gameplay was way too dated for me. But I wouldn’t give it 1 start just because I didn’t like gameplay.
1 start in my rating is reserved for utterly unplayable, broken, pointless games with terribly bad plot and so on. And Dark Messiah is perfectly playable. And at the same time it’s not good, hence middle score :P
It looks to me like you’re running out of games to play! xD
We should all donate 10 bundled games to Mskotor so that she does not run out of games!
I’ll have to wait until my first paycheck for that. I’m out of spare keys and a bit broke! xD
Go home, you’re drunk.
And I’m running out of time, as more and more of my time is consumed by RL stuff. So at this point I wouldn’t mind not having any backlog at all :D
I’ve heard mixed things about Valley, I’m glad you enjoyed it! It’s one of those games that looks beautiful but is really hard to tell if it’d be my cup of tea. That’s great that the controls are so responsive, is a big thing I was worried about going into it. Cheers, really nice cohesive reviews!
I’m glad you enjoyed Valley! I tried to play it, but unfortunately my computer can’t run it. I’m definitely more looking forward to it now, when I try it on a computer that’s more robust!
Yeah, it’s one of those games that look really good, but also are heavy for PC. But I do recommend it, when you will be able to play in it on something more powerful :D
