Report: February 2019
This was a good month! I have concentrated on Cleaning and Steamgifts challenges and have completed 5 games - four of them were SG wins! :D
I hope that March will keep being this positive. Although I got manipulated into starting Mass Effect, again! Oh well, how can I resist. X)
I have also made an ABC list, as I have noticed that it’s very popular here. ;) Hope it’s okay, that I have selected some old unfinished games to help me with completing them! I miss game for letter Q (that’s not true anymore as I have won one today!) so I customized my selection a bit: I have two games for H - as it is practically one game divided on two and one game for letter CH as my alphabet have it. :P
Enough of small talks and now to the actual assassinations! Good luck in new month and have a good time everyone!
This was amazing. It has everything - interesting story, great characters, deep atmosphere, beautiful visuals and soundtrack!
The game is based upon equally named book by Ken Follet. I have to humbly admit that I have not read it - yet! But years back I have given the book to my mom as a Christmas gift and if I remember correctly, she enjoyed it. ;) So I have borrowed it from her and now it sits in my living room, and as it has almost 1000 pages it will take me some time to finish it!
So back to the game. It's a point and click adventure heavily concentrated on storytelling. You can pick up items and use them, there is also one kind of little mini-game, but the main point of this adventure are choices. You follow four (respectively three) main characters through the story full of regret, betrayal, faith, hope and of course love. As them you have to live, survive and make hard decisions which will shape not just your fate, but even of those around you. All is happening in the shadow of one particular cathedral.
The game is divided to three Books which are then set to 7 chapters each. At chapter's end you are "rewarded" with screen summarizing the most important events and your decisions. Even though the end of the game is practically set and there are things that you can't change no matter what, you have some space for different approach. In some cases you can even die. The good thing is that the decision leading to such end is imminent; I believe it's good because you don't have to overplay ten hours to change it!
I have found the characters very believable and well written, I have come to like them almost immediately! Largely due to the great voice acting; the actors perfectly corresponded with their characters! One of the best video game dubbing for me.
There are some minor bugs - not sure if it's the right word, few times happened that someone talks and his mouth is shut or someone is quiet and his mouth is moving. But it didn't bothered me much. ;)
Pillars have stolen my heart as tsupertsundere mentioned. ;) The story captured me and my emotions changed rapidly as it proceeded, I will be strong and admit that even some tears were shed. :P
Nice short adventure about simple life of a simple janitor named Joe. The graphic design is very good and fitting. Also as someone who loves Twelve Monkeys I can't say anything bad on it.
Well... two times I got stuck and all that Joe suggested was that he doesn't know how that thing should help him... well me neither Joe, me neither. XD After rage clicking and using everything on anything I found my way. :P
This was rather nice HoG. It had some funny moments and was very quick too. I found the mini-games reasonable and easily doable.
Some of the items were really very well hidden, almost blended with the environment. For that situation was good the sonar thing which showed you shape of the item, I have not used it to pinpoint the exact location of the item. Some of the items were hard to pick up as they needed certain location to click, so there were many misclicks. The graphic and story is little bit weaker, but I have enjoyed it nevertheless. I liked my museum. :)
Funny casual game. Mighty Hercules was really hilarious! :D Good for killing time.
Almost forgot to add that I have beaten this one, but I have lost my temper and went with just 109%, oh well. The finale was amazing, so emotional and heavy. I am so hyped about Hornet and her own game! Now I am back, trying to see if I can make one of the speedruns! It's very hard to stop want to use all those skills and techniques I have already learned and now have to acquire again. ^^

You really managed to get quite a few hours out of Silent Age. I think I finished it within three so it really was short. Simple, but effective, though. I really have to get around to playing The Pillars of the Earth one of these days. Really nice to read there are some choices to be made in the game even if they don’t affect the end state. Did they do their own thing independent of the TV show and stayed closer to the book?
Hehe, I take my time with reading, also sometimes I just enjoy the scenery. XD I had to backtrack for some achievements too. ;)
I can recommend it so much! I already miss my time with Pillars! ^^
I have just learned about the TV show after my playthrough, now I have to find some torrent for it. X) But as I have noticed it has very good score and some big names staring there too! I am curious what differences would be there between them all!
Aww, I appreciate the shoutout! I’m glad you liked Pillars of the Earth so much - it’s certainly a game with a LOT of love put into it.
Your review for Silent Age made me laugh, too - “Well I don’t know either, Joe!”
Great progress, and holy shit you won so many games. Congrats!
I am glad you don’t mind, wasn’t sure about it. ;D Yeah and it touched my heart very deeply. :3
Hahaha, I am happy, I had some good laugh playing it. XD
Thank you! :3
Now I am not sure if I have not mystified you somehow…. those many SG wins you mean for February or them all? o.O I have maybe written it wrongly, most of the 18 games I have bought during the sale. O.O
Of course I wouldn’t mind! It’s always such a nice thing when people think of and remember what I say c:
OOPS yeah, that’s all me! I misread that whole page as games you WON, not just games you got in February. My b!
No worries. ;) I have to write it better next time, I can see how it can be misleading. XD
Also, niiiiiice background pic on Steam! <3
Thank you very much! I simply had to kit my profile out Majima-style after how much I adored Yakuza 0!
Garrus waggled his mandibles at you and you had to heed his call. it’s okay, we all succumb to such demands xD
Silent Age to me was so weird. appreciated the 12 Monkeys/Alphaville vibes but when the first choice to get through the locked door is……. to take a chainsaw to it. i mean really?! really?!
Heh, so much true. XD
Haha, that’s right, there were more absurd-like situations, well at least I had a good laugh. ;D
