Progress Report #3

Normalcy returns?

How has the lock down treated you? I have to say I’m very happy to be slowly returning to some kind of normalcy. Contrary to what you would think the lock down has been extremely busy for me. That would be in part due to having to home-school my three sons. Two of them have have ADHD and my middle son has autism so it has been a challenge but I’m so very proud of them for getting through it. I couldn’t more happier that the school year is finally over and we can start going outside and playing… And on the positive side my house has never been that clean!

Gaming update!

My Highlight this month is NAIRI: Tower of Shirin.

An lovely point & click/visual novel hybrid game, I really like the look of it. The characters are really endearing and fun, the story is interesting and the puzzles are challenging enough to make you work. A nice game to play in a weekend. I got it in a bundle but for any one looking to get it for the small price I do think it’s worth the price. They’ve actually announced that a follow-up game NAIRI: Rising Tide should come out in 2021 and I’m excited for it!

Here’s a couple more games that I’ve managed to finish lately. Ablepsia, THE ART- Metamorphosis and Chickduck & Catduck are all SteamGifts wins and My Brother Rabbit was given to me by a very generous person in a Steam Group.

My Brother Rabbit is a really beautiful game. It is an Artifex Mundi game and even though it is still in keeping with the same style and by that I mean a point & click game with lots of puzzle but at the same time it’s quite unique and different. Chickduck & Catduck is a short but very cute and fun game. It’s mostly a find the difference game mixed within a visual novel. It’s a fun game and also great for kids. My youngest son enjoyed it a lot.

The Fabulous- Angela’s Fashion Fever game is as usual with all GameHouse games is a very well in-depth time management game. The great thing with those game is the story, it’s really in depth. There’s nothing more boring than a time management game without a story you can get into. Also there’s a lot of added mini-game that enriched the gameplay.

I have to warn everyone that is thinking of ever getting the game THE ART- Metamorphosis, me and seemingly several other people have come across a game breaking bug that won’t let you play the last half of the game so don’t waste you time. Even what part I did play wasn’t anything special, if I had to give a score (even without taking into account the bug) it would still get a 3 out 10.

Finally this month I’ve also played Timelie which I was reviewing. It’s a stealth puzzle game, each level is an intricate maze you have to go through while finding a way to evade the obstacle. It’s really well thought out even though it’s nothing revolutionary in term of mechanics the dev did a great job of implementing them. I definitely give it two thumbs up!

Have a wonderful day 😊

Oh I saw the coming soon for nairi rising tide but didn’t think it was that far away. Well just plenty of time to play the original

I know that’s what I don’t like about playing a game when it’s somewhat new, you have to wait so long for the next one.

Formidolosus

I feel you on the lockdown totally! For us, I already work at home, and my eldest son is autistic, so we homeschool, and so for us, lockdown has possibly been busier than ever. but of course the biggest issue is the kids wanting to get out, so ‘corona’ has become something of a swear word in our house.

Great job on the progress, I think based on your description, Nairi should go up on my ‘to play’ list. And timelie was already on my wishlist, but maybe it should also bump up the queue a bit, as I love a good stealth puzzle game.

Hey sorry for not answering before, I’ve had a busy time lately but better late than never I guess. That can’t be easy to homeschool your autistic son, you have my admiration. The hardest for us has been the schedule, my autistic son is really rigid in his habit so having to go from a set school schedule to homeschool has been somewhat hard on him and created a lot of anxiety. We made it though and I guess it’s not a bad thing for him in the end to get used to having to adapt and change his schedule.

Nairi and Timelie are both outstanding game IMO and if you like the genre you should enjoy them.
