Hope you enjoy the game!
so far its not what i expected, took me 1-2H just to get used to the mechanics (which almost never happened to me, perhaps its because i play on Veteran) thats a very weird way to control your avatar (for example you cant move while reloading, or the FOV, or the way the character reacts to turning etc) but after you get used to it its actually fun ^_^
its also the first game i actually needed to use the 180 fast turn…
only really bad thing i have for it at the moment is the companion AI…in a way she is more a burden then help (target the wrong enemies, block your escape way sometimes or your melee attacks, deploy your ammo reserves etc)
Yeah those are some good complaints about RE5. The controls are not very fun and the A.I is absolutely terrible. It’s recommended that you play with a friend if you have one, but if you dont like me, then it’s a pain to deal with that A.I :P
I don’t know if you’ve played RE6 yet but the controls are even worse on that one! lol
well im the last one of my friends who still plays games on that lvl, all of them are busy with families and (or) jobs which is good…
so im stuck with the AI :P
i didnt, only tried for a short time RE4, and if 6 is worse i will need to decide if to lower it on my list :D
Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3 are survival horror (you have to manage resources, zombies are less frequent and harder to kill, lots of puzzles) and they have much more horror. Resident Evil 4 is the game that turned it into an actiony endless zombies fest. It’s a fantastic game but it did shift the series a bunch. Because of the success of Resident Evil 4, RE5 pretty much ditched the survival horror aspect and went straight into cheesy action game. This is when the series goes truly downhill because it’s not even close to the old resident evil and it’s pretty much a hollywood movie now.
Resident Evil 6 takes most of the characters from other Resident Evils (with some new ones) and gives them all a campaign that you can play. In Resident Evil 6, you also have an A.I partner in each campaign but they can’t die (or at least its very rare). Resident Evil 6 can be enjoyed as pure fun since you get to play essentially an action zombie game with 6 different and unique campaigns. But the controls are terrible, it’s very cheesy, and once again, it’s not horror in the slightest. I haven’t played the new Resident Evil game, but from what I read, Resident Evil 7 brings the game back to its roots while also changing things (first person) and making it new and refreshing at the same time.
There are (as I showed above) many many many more resident evil games but they are spin offs, side games, and overall don’t have to be played. There are some really good ones though and a lot of the side ones are better then some main ones.
I hope you don’t mind me posting so much on your post. Next time just tell me to shut up and I will :P
but why will i tell you that? you give good advise :D
well from quick view a lot of them are for console i only have pc i did added the first ones to the list tho i dont know when i will get to play them :S
is the game play of the first 3 is like alane wake?
Not quite. The biggest difference is that re 1 and 2 have fixed camera angles. It’s annoying at first but you get used to it.
The first game also takes place in a mansion so it’s an enclosed space instead of a field like Alan Wake. Alan Wake puts a lot of focus into combat and storytelling. Resident Evil 1 and 2 are more about exploration and puzzle solving then combat. When in combat, Both games don’t give you an abundance of ammo, but Resident Evil 1 and 2 stress the importance of saving your ammo and resources much more and adds much more suspense. I’ve never actually played re3 so that’s why I haven’t commented about it.
Yeah it’s sad the whole franchise isn’t on steam. I can tell you about the ones that are on steam though if it helps.
From the games on steam, I’d say Resident Evil 1 remaster is worth getting/playing. I haven’t beaten Resident Evil 0 yet, but it’s an origin story that takes place before the first game.
Resident Evil 4 is a classic and great game, but it’s more similar to Alan Wake then the rest of them. The controls are also hard to get used to, but once you do it’s a great game. Ammo can be scarce so it’s a neat mix between survival horror and action horror.
RE Five and six are straight up action games and imo the weakest of the series. Six being more of a guilty pleasure for me because my friend and I could choose a character for each campaign and it was fun. The controls are the worst though.
As far as Raccoon City…. just avoid it :P
Revelations 1 and 2 try to bring the games back to their survival horror roots. Revelations 1 is a DS port but well done, and I haven’t beaten 2 yet but it looks really nice. Resident Evil 7 is the newest of the franchise. It ditches third person for first person and puts horror elements first and action second.
Overall the franchise changes it up a lot with gameplay elements (whether for better or for worse) so if you don’t like one you might like another.
Glad I’m not being annoying. I tend to talk to much about things I enjoy :)
Edit: oh also some of those games have online co-op so if your ever in need a partner feel free to add me
I have actually never touched anything from Resident Evil. Not even the movies (O.O). Buuuut since it’s a big thing I bet it has some good things going on. So have fun with that :]
Happy evil killing!
Resident Evil is such a great series but sadly it started to go downhill at 5 (some say four). Luckily it seems like they brought it back up with re7. Five and six can be good guilty pleasures though and are silly fun, especially with friends :)
How many are there?!? O.o
A whole lot :P
and thats an old article
What? No! No, that’s no nice thing to fix somebody getting into it. Nope! I R.E.F.U.S.E.! ;)
But thanks for digging it up ^^
If it makes you feel better, Resident Evil 1 through 7 are considered the main ones so playing through those would count as being caught up :)
No, now it’s over. It’s ruined. I will not touch it! You won’t make that damage unhappen by… er trying to take it back? Yeah, you get that, right? :D
It’s mostly me panicking of having new/more stuff to play, that are possible endless… :]
well the first 2 movies are great the rest are less and less… with the games i only tested RE4 at a friend for a very brief experience (which i liked XD)
and amen to that ;)
Ah. Well. Yeah. That sadly happens. Like the first movies turn out great and then they try to ride the wave but it just doesn’t work out that well any longer. I would like to mention Captn Jack Sparrow right now. Yk, how he was fresh and awesome in the first and after that, they just tried too hard? Yeah… I still love my Captn Jack Sparrow though. I’m a loyal Captn lover :D
so true…in the last movie it was more of a joke… :/
Yeah…. It was a bit like physical pain tbh headtable
true, hope the next one will be better :S
You sure are positive about that! :D
But yes, I hope so too. Don’t see it, but hope it ^^
well i do my best been positive in general ^_^
Yay! I like that! :)
^_^
