January 2025

Uhh… right, hello there. It’s been more than a 1/4 of a year since my last post haha. Haven’t been gaming much, mostly focused on other hobbies, but i did beat some very good games between last post and now so…. here i am! Don’t count on these updates becoming consistent ever again, it seems very unlikely, but you can always count on my reviews and opinions being somewhat off the beaten path, so hope you enjoy them :P

The Henry Stickmin Collection

A flash classic that still absolutely holds up 100%. Just an amazing entry into the “Find all endings” type genre that still hits with it’s humour and choices. A must buy, especially for that price!!!

Beacon Pines

Rarely do i finish a game in one sitting, even more rarely do i 100% a game in one sitting, but Beacon Pines is special, in that it managed to hold my attention the whole way through, enough for me to want to get all the achievements.

Really superb artstyle, great music, an intriguing story that keeps you excited for what’s to come and to top it all off, a great and unique mechanic allowing you to go back and change the story at key moments. I can’t recommend it enough, go play it right now!

BAD END THEATER

BAD END THEATER

10/10

I don’t really know if there’s a name for this genre of games, where you have multiple endings and try to find them all, but i have to say, Bad End Theater neatly fits along some of the greats like The Stanley Parable and Needy Streamer Overload.
It provides a wonderful spin on the genre, where instead of making choices that affect where you go in the story, you actually affect the whole story, and how each character acts in each new run. It’s such a fresh and wonderful take on the formula, that it’s actually criminal how short the game is, as it leaves you wanting much more of it’s well written and funny endings!
Genuinely worth every penny, play it right now, especially if you love these “collect all the endings” kinds of games, it’s a must-play for the genre!

VVVVVV

This is my 4th or 5th time beating this game, and oh man, it’s still so great. Even though i generally hate difficult games, VVVVVV somehow just manages to suck me back in to play it every few years, and every time i do i have a great time. Just 10/10, no comments needed, go play it if you somehow missed out on it, it’s amazing.

Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon 4

Yada yada, y’know it’s good, but if you didn’t pick it up before now, it’s not like my review will make any difference. Goodbye FH4, you were one of the good ones.

TOEM

TOEM

8/10
5 hours playtime
More

Oh man, i wish i had played this sooner. TOEM is the definition of a “cozy game”, just a stroll through multiple different locations, solving puzzles, with a beautiful artstyle and music to boot. Even when you are stuck on a puzzle, it’s never annoying, just…. chill :D
Genuinely worth picking up immediately at full price, worth every penny for the amazing vibe on offer.

Dishonored RHCP

Y’know, i usually really dislike stealth games, i just don’t find sneaking around and instantly failing when i am caught to be fun. But Dishonored… it far surpasses being just a simple stealth game, and is more like the recent Hitman trilogy, where you have a target, and the way you go about getting there and dealing with it is up to you. Wanna sneak around? Sure. Want to kill everyone? Be my guest. Want to have consequences to your actions, instead of just an instant game over screen? Play Dishonored, it truly is deserving of all the praise it gets.

DoronkoWanko

Doronko Wanko is a great little stress relief game, where you get to run around and utterly destroy a house for the whopping price of… free! A good 30-40 minutes of fun, with no cost of entry, definitely do give it a try!

En Garde!

En Garde!

7/10

More

En Garde is a fun little 3 hour romp that starts off quite easy, and ends being brutally hard, but still manages to keep being fun throughout, due to it’s simple yet hard to master mechanics. Worth playing!

Princess Farmer

Princess Farmer

5/10
4 hours playtime
More

Princess Farmer is definetly very…. mid. I don’t dislike it, but i wouldn’t particularly recommend it either. It’s a 4 hour long match-3 game, which even though kinda short, still managed to get stale and boring by the end, mainly due to one thing…. the gameplay doesn’t evolve, at all. What you do in the tutorial, is what you’ll be doing until the final boss, it doesn’t add any more mechanics, doesn’t get more difficult, and as a result ends up feeling like a slog to finish. Worth buying on sale, but not really a must play.

Nuclear Blaze

Nuclear Blaze

5/10
2 hours playtime
More

Nuclear Blaze is honestly just… fine. It looks pretty, the music is great and the gameplay is plain alright. The difficulty is quite consistent until the final 2 levels where there is a big spike, and the overall game is quite short. It’s honestly one of those games where you’re not missing out on anything by not playing it, and me struggling to even write anything about it in this review says enough. Worth it on sale if you’ve already played every other good platformer on the market.

Devolverland Expo

Devolverland Expo

5/10
42 minutes playtime
More

A playable ad that’s… actually fun? Yep, Devolver has done it once again, and managed to create an ad that you actually want to go through. It’s not anything groundbreaking, but a fun little 40 minute romp, worth playing!

Four Last Things

Four Last Things

3/10
5 hours playtime
More

Four Last Things has a wonderful artstyle, and a very fitting soundtrack and…. that’s all the positive things i can say about it. The humour is nonexistent, there is no real guidance for the puzzles to point you in the right direction, so you just end up stumbling around talking to everyone and everything and to top it off, the game is quite short, which while not inherently a negative, here just feels like another low point.

From what i’ve seen of “The Procession to Calvary”, it seems significantly better than this, in almost every way, so i’d recommend trying that game instead if it still appeals to you, instead of this boring mess.

VFurrika!

VFurrika!

It’s Suika game but much, much worse on every conceivable level. The music is an absolutely annoying, 20 second loop that will drive you insane, the collision physics are jank, the sizes go from 3 of the same size in a row to absolutely huge. It’s just not good, don’t waste your time here.
