Uhh… right, hello there. It’s been more than a 1/4 of a year since my last post haha. Haven’t been gaming much, mostly focused on other hobbies, but i did beat some very good games between last post and now so…. here i am! Don’t count on these updates becoming consistent ever again, it seems very unlikely, but you can always count on my reviews and opinions being somewhat off the beaten path, so hope you enjoy them :P
A flash classic that still absolutely holds up 100%. Just an amazing entry into the “Find all endings” type genre that still hits with it’s humour and choices. A must buy, especially for that price!!!
Rarely do i finish a game in one sitting, even more rarely do i 100% a game in one sitting, but Beacon Pines is special, in that it managed to hold my attention the whole way through, enough for me to want to get all the achievements.
Really superb artstyle, great music, an intriguing story that keeps you excited for what’s to come and to top it all off, a great and unique mechanic allowing you to go back and change the story at key moments. I can’t recommend it enough, go play it right now!
I don’t really know if there’s a name for this genre of games, where you have multiple endings and try to find them all, but i have to say, Bad End Theater neatly fits along some of the greats like The Stanley Parable and Needy Streamer Overload.
It provides a wonderful spin on the genre, where instead of making choices that affect where you go in the story, you actually affect the whole story, and how each character acts in each new run. It’s such a fresh and wonderful take on the formula, that it’s actually criminal how short the game is, as it leaves you wanting much more of it’s well written and funny endings!
Genuinely worth every penny, play it right now, especially if you love these “collect all the endings” kinds of games, it’s a must-play for the genre!
This is my 4th or 5th time beating this game, and oh man, it’s still so great. Even though i generally hate difficult games, VVVVVV somehow just manages to suck me back in to play it every few years, and every time i do i have a great time. Just 10/10, no comments needed, go play it if you somehow missed out on it, it’s amazing.
Yada yada, y’know it’s good, but if you didn’t pick it up before now, it’s not like my review will make any difference. Goodbye FH4, you were one of the good ones.
Oh man, i wish i had played this sooner. TOEM is the definition of a “cozy game”, just a stroll through multiple different locations, solving puzzles, with a beautiful artstyle and music to boot. Even when you are stuck on a puzzle, it’s never annoying, just…. chill :D
Genuinely worth picking up immediately at full price, worth every penny for the amazing vibe on offer.
Y’know, i usually really dislike stealth games, i just don’t find sneaking around and instantly failing when i am caught to be fun. But Dishonored… it far surpasses being just a simple stealth game, and is more like the recent Hitman trilogy, where you have a target, and the way you go about getting there and dealing with it is up to you. Wanna sneak around? Sure. Want to kill everyone? Be my guest. Want to have consequences to your actions, instead of just an instant game over screen? Play Dishonored, it truly is deserving of all the praise it gets.
Doronko Wanko is a great little stress relief game, where you get to run around and utterly destroy a house for the whopping price of… free! A good 30-40 minutes of fun, with no cost of entry, definitely do give it a try!
En Garde is a fun little 3 hour romp that starts off quite easy, and ends being brutally hard, but still manages to keep being fun throughout, due to it’s simple yet hard to master mechanics. Worth playing!
Princess Farmer is definetly very…. mid. I don’t dislike it, but i wouldn’t particularly recommend it either. It’s a 4 hour long match-3 game, which even though kinda short, still managed to get stale and boring by the end, mainly due to one thing…. the gameplay doesn’t evolve, at all. What you do in the tutorial, is what you’ll be doing until the final boss, it doesn’t add any more mechanics, doesn’t get more difficult, and as a result ends up feeling like a slog to finish. Worth buying on sale, but not really a must play.
Nuclear Blaze is honestly just… fine. It looks pretty, the music is great and the gameplay is plain alright. The difficulty is quite consistent until the final 2 levels where there is a big spike, and the overall game is quite short. It’s honestly one of those games where you’re not missing out on anything by not playing it, and me struggling to even write anything about it in this review says enough. Worth it on sale if you’ve already played every other good platformer on the market.
A playable ad that’s… actually fun? Yep, Devolver has done it once again, and managed to create an ad that you actually want to go through. It’s not anything groundbreaking, but a fun little 40 minute romp, worth playing!
Four Last Things has a wonderful artstyle, and a very fitting soundtrack and…. that’s all the positive things i can say about it. The humour is nonexistent, there is no real guidance for the puzzles to point you in the right direction, so you just end up stumbling around talking to everyone and everything and to top it off, the game is quite short, which while not inherently a negative, here just feels like another low point.
From what i’ve seen of “The Procession to Calvary”, it seems significantly better than this, in almost every way, so i’d recommend trying that game instead if it still appeals to you, instead of this boring mess.
It’s Suika game but much, much worse on every conceivable level. The music is an absolutely annoying, 20 second loop that will drive you insane, the collision physics are jank, the sizes go from 3 of the same size in a row to absolutely huge. It’s just not good, don’t waste your time here.

Yasss, only 2 months between posts this time. Still dealing with medical issues, so i’m kind of not only limited on gaming time, but i also don’t really have any interested in starting a new game and having to take a break midway through, like i started Death Stranding, got halfway through, took a break and now i have no will to play it again :( So the posts will be a bit slim, on a diet one could say, but i hope my silly reviews introduce some of you to some good games :)
Genuinely superb game for being free. It’s only 30 minutes long, but that 30 minutes is filled with charm, a cute artstyle, dark humour and great gameplay. Really worth trying!
NOTE: This will be purely a review for both DLCs, as i have beaten the main game on PS3.
TLAD:
Honestly, very mediocre DLC. The side activities are not much fun, and feel more like gruntwork. And the main story is just your typical betrayal and revenge story, with not really any spectacular or memorable missions. Decent, but would not go back to it.
6/10
TBoGT:
Now this is where the DLCs shine, TBoGT really feels like a last hurrah to GTA4, with a lot of new features, mission challenges (which incentivizes a replay) and some really great missions, especially that final one, putting a closure to one of the antagonists of GTA4’s story. Also, this DLC gets rid of the depression filter, and really makes GTA4 look younger than it is.
9/10
Short and sweet point and click adventure with superb art and enjoyable music. Not much to say, but for that price it’s definitely worth playing at least once :)
So, having never watched any of the Mad Max movies i can confidently say the Mad Max game was… perfectly fine, not amazing, not horrible, just plain fine. Mad Max is like fast food, it’s unlikely to be your favourite, but you’ll probably enjoy the time you spent with it. The story is fun, the world quite nicely detailed and the characters enjoyable. The side activities do start to grind you down after a while, but they are (mostly) optional so once you feel like you’re done, you can just finish out the story.
In short, worth buying on sale, and playing when you are bored and don’t know what else to play. It will give you a solid 20 hours of fun, and more if you love Ubisoft-like menial tasks to complete :)
Sticky Business is a perfect blend of “ahh, this is so cozy and relaxing” and “MOTHERFUCKER, PRINT THOSE STICKERS NOW” depending on the day and amount of customers. And i love it for that, it doesn’t go too far, instead it perfects it’s own simple formula of making stickers and selling them, and i think it does it well. Well worth the price, for a few hours of enjoyment for non-creative types like me, and probably many many more for those that actually want to play around and create interesting sticker designs.
After playing both LiS, and LiS BTS, it feels like the original game is a 5 star full meal at a restaurant, and BTS is a small piece of dessert served after it. It’s nice don’t get me wrong, but the story here doesn’t warrant buying the game without playing the original first, and feels like it would have been better served had it just been made a dlc for the original. Now it has some issues ofc, like the awful unnecessary plot twist in episode 3 in Rachel’s house, or the fact that there’s a bonus episode locked behind DLC in what already feels like DLC. But overall the story is a nice serving of bonus character lore for fans of the original, and for those who didn’t play the original… well… don’t play this, just play the original. Worth a buy at a discount.

Huh, it’s been 5 month since the last post hasn’t it? I was meaning to post these more frequently and then shit happens as per usual. Medical issues, which lead to less time to game, which lead to less time to make posts. Hopefully i get to post these more often, but the medical stuff is far from over. I don’t want to end the beginning paragraph on a sad note however, so enjoy the last 5 months as i did :) (Also, nobody bothered telling me i still had the wrong year in the last post, shame on you :P)
Coming into DR3 i hadn’t really played any other DR game, and i gotta say, looks like i’ve been missing out. DR3 is absolutely superb, walking the fine line between too easy to have fun, and too difficult to not have any fun. You’ll have fun mowing down zombies like they’re nothing, but once you’re out on foot, brother, you better hope you got some stamina or some good crowd weapons. Then the goofy weapons, clothing and collectibles just add to the charm, and even if they aren’t all chuckle worthy, they at least never delve into cringy levels of design. Then there’s also the story which…. is there. It’s not exactly very good, but at least you can tell an attempt was made, and it never feels half-assed, even if the plot is a bit bad. It’s enough to keep you moving forward, and gives you something to work towards which is the least you’d want, and something some games seem to misunderstand.
To sum it all up, DR3 doesn’t overstay it’s welcome, and offers a fun experience that delivers for 100% of it’s runtime. It’s worth a buy for sure :)
Y’know, Turnip Boy is one of the best examples of what i want from an indie game, a short concise story, with solid gameplay that doesn’t take itself too seriously and knows perfectly what to do to keep the player engaged. I don’t want 60 hours of mediocrity, i want more of these 2 hour amazing experiences that are at their 100% all the way through.
In short, buy this game right now, it’s amazing.
So… Payback. When it launched it got hated for it’s speedcards system, but now? Honestly, it’s a pretty fun game. I had a good time, the driving’s fun and the campaign is long enough to give you stuff to do, but not too long to get boring. But of course, Payback is far from perfect, and it has some glaring issues. This includes: speedcards (Yes, they still suck), the reset system (janky as hell, and it never feels right) and the main gripe, the offroad physics. They are atrocious, and i never got used to them throughout the whole career. Your car understeers and oversteers depending on it’s mood, and some of the offroad races will literally turn you into the joker.
That being said. despite it’s shortcomings, it’s a good game. Definetly better than 2015. Play it if you got it, if you don’t buy it on sale, it’s fun :)
Lucius is a decently fun early 2010s puzzle game, the animations have not aged very well, but the overall presentation and graphics still look fine. The puzzles however… for the first part of the game they are fine, maybe even too easy, then the last few decide to go for the goofiest ever solutions, resulting in turning to a guide, or running around the house trying to figure out what to do. Still though, for the price, and for the length, Lucius is very much worth buying :)
Assemble with Care is one of those puzzle games where you get to zone out and chill as you solve some easy yet fun puzzles, and i have to say it executes that perfectly. It takes around an hour to complete, but you’re never bored during that hour, always tinkering with things and trying to fix them, and i love that (and genuinely want more of it). The only low point of it was the story which i just skipped for most of the game as it was quite uninteresting, but it doesn’t get in the way of the gameplay so it’s easily ignored.
Overall, well worth playing and buying, give it a go :)
Antenna follows in the footsteps of games like Limbo and Inside, where the gameplay is pretty mediocre, but is entirely compensated by the vibes and beautiful art, and i’m happy to say, Antenna executes on that vision perfectly. For the entire 20 minutes the vibes are immaculate, the art great and the gameplay servicable. Definetly worth trying!
NOTE: I have only played the story mode.
For it’s price, Genital Jousting is a pretty solid offering, the story is an enjoyable playthrough with some chuckle worthy moments and enjoyable controls. It doesn’t overstay it’s welcome, nor does it push it’s jokes too hard which is great. Plus, there’s a whole multiplayer aspect which i did not bother with it, certainly worth buying :)
The 3rd and final part of Purrfect Apawcalypse is definetly the best part of the whole series. Even though it’s probably more linear than the other games, it feels a lot more open and the switch up from VN to point and click is really great and adds some fresh air to the gameplay. The art as always is superb and there were even some funny jokes in the mix. I think out of the 3, this one is the one most worth playing, but again i wouldn’t say the game is particularly amazing, it’s just plain nice, and you’d have to go through 2 mediocre games to fully get the story in this one. So you’re not missing out on much, but if you already have it in your library and don’t mind some short mediocre games, i’d suggest giving the series a try.
Part 2 of Purrfect Apawcalypse is definetly an improvement over the first game, though it does feel more linear compared to it. In the end though, i think it still falls into the same pitfalls as the same game. The runtime is similar, and while the story is more interesting, it’s still not really great. The art is once again superb, but the game’s just extremely forgettable. Again, i’d have to say, not bad, not good, just plain mediocre. It’s fine to play, but you won’t miss out on anything by not trying it.
Sooo…. Purrfect Apawcalypse. It’s a game, it has really lovely art, and that’s the best i can say. It’s not bad per se, just very mediocre and short, nothing really funny or interesting happens, and you get an hour or two worth of gameplay for the price. It’s plain ok, maybe worth buying on sale, but you aren’t missing out on anything by not playing it. If i could, i would not give this either a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
Hotshot Racing is the definition of aggressively mediocre. It’s not good, it’s not bad, it’s just plain boring. It feels like it wants to so badly capture Mario Kart’s audience, but doesn’t want to be called a clone so all the best parts of Mario Kart are stripped. The AI rubberbands like crazy, which means you can be dead last for the whole race and jump into first on the last lap, or lead the whole race, get shunted from behind and finish 4th. This effectively means all racing until the final lap is pointless, and the plain ok physics don’t make it fun to drive it either, rather it makes it feel like a chore you have to get through. All the characters have Marvel-esque one-liners which make you want to stop playing once you’ve heard the same line 20 times in the last 10 minutes. And the tracks aren’t anything special either, not a single one is memorable in any way, and each has quite a simple layout. In general, the whole game feels like a corporate idea of “cool”, it all feels so safe and bland that genuinely there is no point in playing it. You can have fun with a good game, you can have fun with a bad game, with a mediocre game all you get is disappointment, and that perfectly sums up Hotshot Racing.
Alpaca Stacka is not really a game, it plays more like somebody’s first game project that the creator felt the need to share with the world. It’s one small lifeless island, with 5 chickens you have to find which will take you less than 5 minutes. Even with it being free i can’t justify anyone wasting their time on this.
TLDR: Don’t even bother with this.
It’s just bad, like really bad.

February 2024
Now, you might be asking “Damian, what happened to January?????”. Well….. i beat barely anything in December and was hoping to make a mid-January post when i had some actual content, but i didn’t end up doing much in January either… :( 99% of my gaming time has gone solely to Kingdom Come: Deliverance (which is a banger btw, but it’s an open-world RPG so it takes a fuck ton of time), so haven’t really had the time of will to play anything else.
So to not skip February too, here’s a smol post:
I always love the kinds of games where you just try and achieve different endings (e.g. The Stanley Parable or Henry Stickmin games), and this one is no different. Just an absolute banger all-around, with a lot of charm, intrigue and interesting social commentary. Definetly worth a play :)
An interesting story, with nice art, and some basic puzzles serving as filler between the dialogue scenes. I enjoyed it, but you’re not missing out on much :)

December 2023
Oopsie, i was going to make this post a few days ago…. and then i forgot. But better late then never eh? Didn’t really do much in November, so not much to write about, but the few things i did beat i quite enjoyed. So that’s that :)
Now, onto the games:
An absolute flash classic, that was expanded and improved upon making it into this. An amazingly enjoyable experience with great art, a banging soundtrack and extremely fun gameplay. Just wow, what a great experience. Play it right now!!!
Gorogoa falls perfectly into my favourite type of puzzle game, one where the puzzles aren’t hard enough to make you pull out a guide, but aren’t easy enough for you to breeze through them. The perfect middle ground where after each puzzle you can go “Ah!”, and feel accomplished. The beautiful art and great soundtrack is just the cherry on top. The only drawback is, it’s short, really short, and for that price… eh…. i would wait for a sale, however this is definetly a gem worth playing :)
It's just more WD2, what's there to say? A few more fun missions in a great game are always appreciated :)
Puzzle Agent is quite a short, and mildly enjoyable story game. The puzzles are quite nice, and the story… well it starts a bit slow, and then speedruns all the way to the finish with a cliffhanger, not really that great. The VA and art are nice, and that’s about it. Quite a forgettable experience overall, and probably one i’ll forget i even played in a few months. Worth a buy? For the price, sure, if you’re just looking to kill a few hours with an ok game, don’t go in looking for anything groundbreaking, or even great though.
Torchlight is… fine i guess. If you love grinding in games i’m sure you’ll love this, but going through the same looking stages, killing basically the same enemies, all with the same move in one hit. It’s just so god damn boring. I might come back and finish this some day but i need a break for now.

November 2023
And so, yet another month passes. Soon, we’ll be done with 2023, and i’m willing to bet i’ll still be saying 2023 until February lol. Now as for the month, not much really, played a few short ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) games, and played a few normal games, was on a hot streak, but then i hit I Am Fish and it sucked all the will to play other games out of me with it’s terribleness. Now that a new month is upon us, hopefully i can start anew on some other good games, and well… stop rambling so much in these intros ;P
Now, onto the games:
Honestly, what a great and hilarious game. Rarely do i encounter writing that actually makes me laugh out loud, but this game managed that, and did it quite consistently. Never a dull moment, whether you are going around the streets of Paris interviewing suspects, or sitting in a courtroom trying to defend your client, there’s always something to make you laugh. Truly a top tier game, worth playing :)
Now this... this is great! Compared to the base FH3, this DLC is a blast, surpassing even it's sequel in FH5 in many ways. Lots of jumps, absurd stunts and extremely high speeds make for some superb racing, and it's almost a shame there's not more. Worth every penny!
While not quite as good as Hot Wheels, Blizzard Mountain is quite a lot of fun in it's own regard. Racing through the slippery snow, sometimes with barely any visibility alongside cliff edges does make for some enthralling racing, and it seems to pack more events than Hot Wheels on a tighter map too! However at the end of the day, it's just a snowy map, yes, it's fun, but it's not something i envision myself going back to personally.
Not really much to say about this one tbh, a fairly typical porn game, with very nice art, and a mildly interesting story. Worth playing, but not outstanding by any means.
Nice art, and a questionable story, but that's about it. Fairly typical porn game, the world would not be any different with or without it.
Yu Crossing Animals is a short yet quite sweet little porn game. It’s free, it’s got VA (which is quite rare) and nice art. However… it does feel quite lacking. The world is heavily underutilised, and there is a really small amount of scenes. It’s a shame really, as the concept shows some promise for a more fully fledged out game, but at the moment it feels more like a rough idea. Still though, it’s free, so worth trying at least.

October 2023
So, i’ve chosen to do my future posts in this style. It’s a bit more of a pain in the ass but it is quite pleasing on the eyes, so that’s something. However i’m axing my currently played section as a result, i just can’t be bothered to mess around and try and fit this style into uncompleted games, so i won’t :) In other news, as you can see, it’s a bit of a slow month, not many games finished. Most of my time went into FH3 or job hunting so less time to play a varied selection. Maybe this will change in October, maybe it will not, we’ll see.
Now, onto the games:
It’s embarrassing that this free game from 10+ years ago clears like half of the paid games on Steam in terms of effort and quality. Good game, play it.
I played FH3 back when it launched, but never finished it. I had a great time with it at the time. But coming back to it.... it's honestly not that great. I think my outlook on Horizon changed after i went back and played FH1, and now FH3 just feels pointless... You can do any race in any car, there is no challenge, no pressure, nothing. Just do what you want with no consequences. And that sucks, why should i even care when i can bring the fastest or slowest car to any race and can still win. There is no point in buying any cars, upgrading etc. I'm really disappointed with this one honestly.
I’m not usually a fan of point and click games, but Inspector Waffles is an exception to the rule. No stupid moon logic puzzles, witty and funny dialogue, great pixel art and most of all a fun story! Definetly worth playing, especially since the game is quite short :)

A short September interlude
So, since yet another person asked me for my thoughts on a game, and since i made it my mission a few years ago to review every game i play on Steam, well… why not combine these two things on BLAEO? So here is a small little update from the last 3 days, trying out a different format. Maybe i will keep it, maybe not, but it’s a nice way to incorporate my Steam reviews which i write anyway. Well anyway, onto the last 3 days! (Oh and excuse the maybe poor reviews, i’m not a great writer haha)
Framed 1 and 2 are both excellent puzzle games that have been wondefully ported over from mobile. There was real passion put into these games, and it shows, with the fun gameplay, great music and a quick momentum, meaning you’re never stuck on a level for more than 5 minutes (except the box factory, fuck that level). Overall though, play this, like right now. It’s only an hour/two in lenght, and it’s a wonderful experience.
Potion Permit is a cute and relaxing little game about hunting, crafting and making relationships. It doesn’t go much deeper than that, but it doesn’t need to, the gameplay loop is satisfying and engaging for the whole game (except the end which drags on a bit) and that makes PP a really fun game to just boot up and get lost in for hours.
A rage game with none of the aspects that make you want to keep playing it. No thanks.
