What were your thoughts on Through the Woods? I found it interesting.

Do you intend to play the remake of the Brothers game? I’m considering to wait for it then hop in it.

Yekhus

I didn’t know that they were remaking Brothers! Thanks for the heads up. It’s definitely worth it, because the original has a lot of visual potential with the environments and set pieces. In my opinion, you’re right: it’s worth waiting for. And I might actually revisit the remake myself, after some time has passed to make it a bit fresh again.

Through the Woods had ups and downs. Overall, I’d say it was a nice surprise, with the setting and story and dark-mythology overall mood creating a worthwhile experience. But it’s also quite flawed: the almost complete lack of gameplay as such was disappointing. I’m not against a good walking simulator. But this had too much linear fluff in the middle, with repetitive parts… And then the occasional actual “horror” gameplay parts (stealth, chases, etc) were so very sparse and layed out in an awkward pacing that it broke the whole thing a bit. It felt like a game that didn’t know very clearly what it wanted to be: relaxing (but dark and moody) walking sim, or tense survival horror? so, overall ok and a nice and memorable experience, but it felt very rough and flawed.

Vasharal

I’ll wait. I might just see a video comparison of the two once it’s out.

Very true on the Through the Woods. I guess I went looking for a bad time, but actually was intrigued in the story and mythology that was trying to say. I was quite new to indie games during that time. So, I was open to trying and experiencing different genres and play styles of the AAA and possibly AA games I used to play. I wish there was more to it for sure.

+1 on hearing your thoughts about Through the Woods. :)

Yekhus

Cool! I wrote them down on my reply to Vasharal, if you’d like to check it out.

Trent

Thanks for the ping and for the write-up. Like so many games, I’d like to get to it someday but I don’t know that it will happen.
