The good 👍
- After playing Snake Pass, I was afraid controls here will be confusing and clunky. But they are easy to learn and execute
- Levels are interesting and not really repetitive or needlessly long
- There is level editor, so it's possible to play a few more levels made by community
The bad 👎
- Achievements that don't unlock or track is a recurring problem, most recently with update to enable match making between Epic and Steam

☑ Bare-bone ☐ Average ☐ Good |
☐ Boring ☐ Average ☑ Good |
We move between words that have different challenges (ice, water, tree platforms etc.), collect coins, help other player to get through and activate beacon at the end. There is no padding, the goal is always clear, and the game can be played in easy to fit in short bursts. |
☑ Basics (walk, jump etc.) ☐ Magic / powers ☐ Advanced combat |
We can walk around, move levers and glide above some surfaces (which basically work as running). Quite a lot of areas require us to walk with co-op player in sync, as the floor can be stepped on only by a player of the correct color, while 2nd person stays stationary. |
☐ Clunky and stiff ☐ Adequate ☑ Fluid and enjoyable |
I was bit skeptical after playing "movement games" like Snake Pass or Surgeon Simulator. But Biped has really well-made controls. Best played with controller, in this set up we control each leg with one thumb stick. Which may seem complex but in reality is really easy to grasp. With mouse LMB / RMB controls legs which also work, but with less overall control. Apart from walking around to pass platforming, we can hold objects (carrots and barrels) to smash them (or other player :D) or move levers. |
☑ Basic ☐ Detailed ☐ Over complicated |
Menu allows only to change cosmetic and pick a level. There is nothing else involved. |
☐ Brain dead ☑ Really basic ☐ Average ☐ Smart and responsive |
There are no NPCs we need to interact with in co-op mode. Single player mode do re-use levels from MP, which means game do give some helping NPCs here and there. They do work well enough, but it's not as fun to play solo. |
☑ None ☐ Skins ☐ "Time-savers" ☐ Direct purchase ☐ Custom currency (gems etc.) |
☐ None ☑ Story progression ☐ Few collectibles / easy to get ☑ Grindy collectibles / hard to get ☐ Require multiple playthroughs |
☐ No saves ☐ No saves, progress carries over ☐ One checkpoint, too rare ☑ One checkpoint, frequent ☐ Manual saves |
☐ Can run on potato ☑ Medium requirements ☐ High requirements ☐ Too low for what is visible on screen ☐ Optimization disaster |
☐ May look good 10 years ago, but not now ☐ Blurry textures / geometry problems ☑ Average ☐ Good ☐ Beautiful |
☐ Nothing to remember ☐ Good voice acting ☐ Good weapons & effects ☐ Good OST ☑ Music flows well with the action |
☐ Resolution, volume only ☑ Basic graphic settings ☐ Advanced graphic settings ☐ Adjustable HUD ☐ Accessibility options |
☑ No map ☐ Basic ☐ Detailed ☐ Minimap ☐ Fast travel |

The good 👍
- Nice story
- Really nice voice acting
The bad 👎
- Puzzles have uneven difficulty
- Battles are really easy and it's possible to make card deck that will be just broken OP
Conclusion:
I am quite surprised with this one. I thought it will be more like long game of Gwent from Witcher 3. But it's a mix of story with choices and simple card game. Story battles are easy (except the last one where difficulty goes through the roof...), choices feel impactful, and voice acting is really good.

☐ Bare-bone ☐ Average ☑ Good |
☐ Boring ☐ Average ☑ Good |
It is repetitive. We walk around the map to pick up junk (gold and wood) that is used to upgrade our camp. We stumble on battles that are story related (which means really easy), or puzzles (that can be skipped and have quite uneven difficulty level). Rinse repeat. Story is mostly linear, with some bits and pieces that can turn out different based on our prior actions. |
☑ Basics (walk, jump etc.) ☐ Magic / powers ☐ Advanced combat |
On the over map we can just walk around. Rest is playing Gwent on a board that is nearly identical to the one from Witcher 3. Meve have special ability during match that depend on a weapon we pick for her. Weapons are rewards for completing side quests in a specific way. |
☑ Basic ☐ Detailed ☐ Over complicated |
Map is nice and detailed, easy to navigate. There is no real inventory, the only thing we can adjust is our deck. And here card selection screen could have extra filter for card "origin" - dwarf, thief, Lyria etc. As cards with the same origin can create combos. |
☐ Boring and generic ☑ Average ☐ Good ☐ Great |
Combat is not the most important part of the game. It is less entertaining than base Gwent in Witcher 3. Story battles are really easy. And then at the end there is really hard battle, for no reason, that people are able to beat only by using OP exploited decks. I tried to beat it in the style I wanted to play, but failed multiple times. Had to resort to a deck that "saved" other people as well - unfunny combo of spies stealing enemy strength, alchemist that bump ally strength by amount spy stole, and one commander that resets alchemist ability. Which basically mean a spam of the same ability to inflate our strength to ridiculous number. |
☐ Brain dead ☑ Really basic ☐ Average ☐ Smart and responsive |
Enemies are not smart. They will try to win 1st round, pass 2nd immediately to keep cards, and then win 3rd round. Or if we start strong on 1st round they will pass, and try to spam us with attacks on 2nd round. Their movements are really predictable, and there is not much random element. If they play cards in a specific order on 1st try, they will also play cards in really similar way on all consecutive battle repeats. In battles that last only one round, they don't need to plan anything, and will throw everything they have at us. Puzzles often have only one solution, and are pre-scriped. So enemies don't diverge from scripted path at all. |

I don't do it often but I listened to all dialogues here without skipping. Voice acting is really good While cards have quality graphics, and battlefield is detailed - overworld is seen from afar, and even when all textures are simple and blurry |
