I got so close to beating The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky… but with 5 minutes remaining, and at least another dungeon floor to clear, as well as at least one boss fight - I’m done. And with so many achievements barely a sliver from completion too!
You seriously beat last part 2 times just for achievements? I bow before you.
I wanted to grab achievements for different squad mates as well, but last boss sequence (and later way too long and boring animations) were so annoying I gave up, and was so happy that this game is over.
I noticed you didn’t have to actually complete the last dungeon to get the picking achievement - just fight the “boss” in the keep, get through the dungeon intro dialog, choose and the reload the save before that boss and do it again. Took maybe 10 mins?
It was mostly in response to my annoyance at missing out on so many collecting achievements by one or two items :(
I was playing and trying to get as much collectibles as possible, but at some point I thought “Hey, they have working airliners! So they will unlock fast travel at some point. I don’t have to try and kill those poms over and over again, I will do it near end of the game when I will buff my chars!”. But then I read that you can’t revisit past areas. And was like “fuck this shit” (literally). And I didn’t care about this anymore, I just rushed through game to the end.
So yeah, not be able to go back and kill poms, buy equipment or look for those nasty chests is really bad game design. I do admit that stuff like liberl news (they don’t have to store past issues somewhere) and guild quests can be time sensitive. But rest? Esp when I saw that you really tried to grab them all, and lack only few items in every category.
