Alright, March is in the books. Pretty modest month overall. I carried over Wartales from last month, and it completely consumed this month as well. In fact, I’m still not done playing it, lol. But I did finally finish the base campaign yesterday after like 220 hours. Along with all the objectives for The Tavern Opens! DLC and most of The Pits DLC as well. I imagine the remaining DLC will carry me through another 80 hours or so. Although maybe less now that my mercenary troop is almost completely OP. I also did stop for a minute to play through Mystery Stories: Mountains of Madness, which was an enjoyable and completely casual HOG; Silent Breach, which was a cool Iron Lung-like. Beyond that, I tried out and retired four other games.

And I started playthroughs of Sumerian Six and Scheming Through The Zombie Apocalypse: The Beginning, which I’ll finish in April. Other plans for April include INDIKA, Triangle Strategy, Neva, and Metal Slug Tactics. Plus the remaining Wartales DLC of course.

March Completions

Wartales

225.2 hours, 106 of 196 achievements
It might seem hyperbolic, but this very well might be the greatest isometric TRPG ever made. Still playing through the DLC, so probably will end up with like 300 hours playtime.

Wartales- The Tavern Opens!

0.1 hours, no achievements
Enjoyable bit of meta and simulation DLC for Wartales. Gives you a few more options for the base game and adds a bit of flair to the experience.

Mystery Stories: Mountains of Madness

2.6 hours, no achievements
Decent but fairly standard casual HOG; cool take on the source material.

Silent Breach

1.8 hours, 5 of 7 achievements
Very cool, Szymanski-verse-esque game clearly inspired by Iron Lung, but capable of standing on its own. I thought it was an enjoyable experience.

March Retirements

Worshippers of Cthulhu

2.4 hours, 3 of 34 achievements
It's pretty buggy and I think the overall gameplay loop isn't what I'm looking for, but it is still a very cool idea and I expect the full release will be something people appreciate.

Frostpunk 2

4.6 hours, 6 of 51 achievements
Kind of an amazing game, but the sequel focuses on gameplay introduced in the On the Edge DLC from the first game, and I didn't love those specific gameplay mechanics. Plus, the UI is not very user friendly with this one either.

The controls are, ummm, out of control. Way way way too loose. The game has been delisted, and I understand why. Still, there is something cool here, but it's just not for me.

All I got was a black screen after the opening credits. Is being delisted, and for reasons that definitely make me feel bad for the dev, but regardless, the game is currently non-functional.

You give up Frostpunk 2 ? I still have this one in backlog so i hope it’s not that discouraging.

I did, but I’d say there is a better than average chance that you’ll love the game. I just don’t enjoy having multiple communities to manage which is also what put me off of the On the Edge DLC from the first game, and FP2 really leans a lot more into that style of gameplay. But regardless of my own preferences, FP2 is still a fantastic game. Just not exactly my own cup of tea.
