Hello, let's fight this terrible backlog ! coleypollockfilet’s profile

⏫ Priority :

  • games received from husband
  • games from a specific friend
  • games won on SG (except reason given)
… and then the rest of games !!

⌛ Maybe play again one day but not priority :

  • Games finished years ago on CD/DVD or Playstation 2, and re-purchased on steam

❌ Can’t play :

  • Games hardly playable because of a disability (ex : config not remappable)

❌ Sometimes tried but won’t play more :

  • Horror games, frightening games, especially with $(##*! spiders

  • Disappointed by TR-49, usually Inkle makes strong scenarios with many open paths, but this one was mostly linear, puzzle oriented and really hard.
  • Organized inside was short but really chill with a light-hearted scenario in background.

  • Bus Simulator 21 Next Stop - proof Angel Shores and proof Seaside Valley : Angel Shores (35h) is a large densely populated city with varied buildings in each neighborhood (commercial or residential area, planetarium, stadium, beach, highway, etc.), pedestrians everywhere, heavy traffic, and dynamic weather make this part of the game very enjoyable. Seaside valley (15h) in Europe was mostly a pain like a totally different game, industrial ugly zone, rural empty zone, and empty first city ; with fortunately in the end 2 pretty small towns + a cute village at top of a mountain. I followed a steam guide to quickly get the collectibles on both maps. But tbh after these 50h and 730km and now that i finished both scenarios, i feel no more motivated driving on a loop to get the last achievement “reach 1000km”. Still overall despite the pedestrians erratic behavior and the bad rural map, i had some great hours of relaxing fun, especially on the awesome urban map with Iveco Urbanway Articulated bus. Relaxing and fun like Euro truck 2. I also liked a lot : the choice of different bus (simple, articulated, double deck), the possibility to customize the external appearance of buses and the color and name of bus routes, the possibility to drive any bus on any road on a whim while passing by a bus stop and select any time of day or night, the dynamic weather was also really well made with gradual changes (rainfall, rainstorm, even by night).

  • The last campfire - proof : A really cute little gem about friendship and hope, i don’t understand if there is a deep meaning but really liked cute characters, the narrator voice along, that the tone was never too dark, the puzzles variety and simplicity, most didn’t cause me an issue except “high expectations”, the cute little boat.
  • Lil Gator Game - proof : At start i had regret as the game got me very nauseous. But after some hours you unlock cool items to jump, fly, run super fast, etc. It makes the game much more fluid. And i appreciated a lot the GPS in the end to help finding easily the last friends and collectibles. The story about the little gator and its sister was cute, it was a good relaxing moment.
  • Takara Cards - proof : What an amazing little gem ! It was a turn-based cards roguelike, in space. With a vague background lore about dragons being capital ships burning everything on their path and that ofc we’ve to stop. I liked a lot the spatial ambiance and soundtrack, reminded me a bit X3. Though ofc it’s a little indie so not to that extent. Wasn’t easy as we’ve to beat 3 dragons in a row, but cards are well balanced and plenty of opportunities to improve and repear ship. At some point i’ve been lucky to get a good deck of cards + selling scrap made me enough money to fully equip my ship.
  • Spellforce: Conquest of Eo - proof : It’s a Total War-like but here we’ve an upgradable central tower that can fly around and generate units. The campaign map is massive with plenty of quests. Here we progress at our rhythm. The opponents don’t build or progress at start but the more we grow, the more they become aggressive and send infinite stacks of units. In the end, i liked the slow and relaxing rhythm, the ambiance, writing and neat drawings, and flying around with this tower everywhere. I disliked the absence of diplomacy to calm down other AI. UI could be improved too to automatize some actions on a loop, see quests more clearly on the map, and better visualize the strengths and weaknesses of units against each others.

  • Batman : Arkham Origins - proof : (part of review that i wrote to the gifter) I’ve been very surprised by the game. A really good one, much better than expected, mix of stealth that i like a lot like SplinterCell, and beat-em-all really difficult for me, as it’s basically rythm phases pushing buttons really quick with… my foot (from a disability). It was still extremely fun ! In fact i forgot the time. The story and characters were truely really dark but that was an extremely good story. Frightening but really great. Strangely, probably the most similar game to beloved Watch_Dogs 1 : justice, stealth, hacking, semi-open world, even the “Ubisoft-like towers” that we have to turn on as checkpoints. Though i almost gave up multiple times, fighting extremely strong boss. Then the game was an almost Nioh, and i was like WTF.
In the end i finished the main scenario, and most of the secondary missions : anarky, penguin, deadshot, mad hatter, bird, shiva, black mask. Just remains a loooot of fedex : Enigma and escaped prisoners.
Last surprise, the game was very Christmas-themed with a lot of christmas trees and decorations. Funny as Christmas comes really soon.

  • Signs of the sojourner : finished twice, a really nice game. I really enjoyed playing cards like dominoes, not to win a cards duel but to try to find common ground with the NPC. However game is harsh, with far too many symbols compared to the limited number of cards in the deck, and a fatigue system that hides many cards. The watercolor effect, almost like stained glass, looks beautiful though.
  • Aotenjo beaten twice. It’s Balatro with mahjong (not real mahjong rules, it’s easiest and specific rules). So based on luck but you can alter the tiles. More sets and more difficulties, but i finally ended up beating standard blue (normal mode). Really fun and playable, despite the absence of story and the backgrounds monotony.

  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - proof : won a decade ago, stopped when i was surrounded by spiders, finished on steam input as the game supports no more xbox 360 controller, lack of precision and general ambiance made it… not really fun.
  • When Ski Lifts Go Wrong - proof : had played half of the game already years ago, now finished following a guide, most often a single solution by the milimeter, this one was totally infuriating
  • Q.U.B.E. 2 - proof : i had given up at chapter 8 surprised by the creepy ambiance, now finished following a video guide, it’s a puzzle game, sometimes beautiful but the puzzles are really hard, and suddenly they can require timing and precision to step forward. In the end it was really Portal-like. Meh.
