Extremely late August 2019 report
Hello everyone! Hope you are having good Spooky time and sorry for this really late post.
I was thinking of making double post again, but I have some nice screenshots prepared and was sad about it, so here you have the last summer rays. ;)
Please excuse me if I will sound non coherent, I am no longer sure what happened when. XD
August was superb month! I joined Play or Pay group and got selected my first batch, I am up for a good challenge! :) Through the month I played and completed lot of games and I had a great feeling about it!
There have been some turbulence at my workplace at the end of the month which slightly caused my lack of time or willingness to think too much. ;)
I shouldn’t forget about my progress in Mass Effect. I surpassed myself and kicked those Praetorians and Mirrors really hard! :D I was pretty much surprised as it went very well and I did it on my first try (not sure if I mentioned it, but I am playing on hardcore setting). After completing Armax Arena through and through, I got myself some nice sweet armor and then started my big party! <3<3<3 Love it.
And now back to saving the galaxy, Thessia awaits. ;)
Enough of small talks and now to the actual assassinations! Good luck in new month and have a good time everyone!
My first ever game on Steam... oh well, dusted and completed.
I like stealth games very much, so Velvet was a truly joy for me to play. I enjoyed different ways and methods you could use through the levels to eliminate your enemies. Apart from normal skills you can use Morphine to slow time and gain some advantage. I have used it only in situations where there was no other way around it though. What bothered me was that I didn't see enemies on the map, you know those red dots to indicate where they are now and so... oh well seems like I am spoiled now. ;) I quickly get accustomed to it, but still found myself checking the map time to time. ;D You don't have classic save, just an automated one, but it saves pretty regularly, mostly when you go through some area. Only level where I got problem with it was in the last one and in the complete end. I did that sequence like 15 times and it was really really frustrating. And here I come to the point which caused the one star loss... the ultimate end is very hard. That wouldn't be a problem, I like challenge, but this was completely insane. Forget stealth and move to head-on action, in just your underwear... yeah, against guys with submachine guns, flamethrowers etc. and you have to survive few waves of them... yeah no. It was very tedious to do it again and again... you know, you are right before the end, the story will close and you are doing the same sequence for almost hour now. I was so out of the story that moment, I just wanted it to end... so when it actually ended I was somehow incomplete. Also I believe that I managed to survive it just thanks to a pure luck and not my skill... Other than that I think that Velvet Assassin aged very well as the graphic looked really beautiful and even the gameplay was smooth without any problems.
The ending isn't very much what you would expect, be warned.
Tesla Effect was my first Tex Murphy game ever, as I didn't know that it was a part of some series, yeah shame on me... but the story is consistent even without the knowledge of previous games! Actually there are many links to the older ones in form of items which brings Texes memories back and it's a great way of uncovering the story!
The game is made with actual actors and I must say that it looks really good! I remember playing Myst long time ago and that's probably all. I know that I can't compare old vs new game, but still, I was surprised how well it worked! The graphic is very nice and even the cutscenes weren't anyhow disturbing, sometimes funny, but still great! Also the music was very good and complemented the whole story very well.
Strong part of the game are characters! Our main hero Tex is awesome! He is so likeable and believable character. When he got into trouble he was so cute!!! :D I liked the others too, I think they were really well written, talking to them resolved to some funny moments!!! - I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I knew the previous games, but that wasn't any problem as I had enough amusement as it was. ;)
In addition to a standard adventure principles you can be more thorough and rise your detective level and at the end of game you will know how you scored. So I marked it as beaten for I will play it once more to be the worst private detective ever. ;D
This game was made thanks to Kickstarter and it's a good thing that it was possible. Also there is coming another game soon! Oh and on GoG, there are the old games! Guess what I will get for Christmas?! ;D
Such a little gem! I enjoyed building my own dungeon very much. I liked those silly dungeoneers and their little talks. :D
In order to proceed you need to build the route to your objective. You can put there treasures, but also enemies! You need to fight them to gain level, but beware there is no standard leveling system. You beat monster one level higher - you gain level. If you beat the same level you gain nothing, when you get to the boss you want to have the highest level which is 4. But even though you will not level up, fighting gives you new gear and better gear gives you more powerful cards you play with! And they look cute in those outfits. XD There can be different goals you need to meet - defeat the boss, reach some specific room, collect number of treasures, the dungeon can be also time limited!
Each dungeoneer is quite different and you have to learn their skills very well to take advantage of them, but even with rather strong character you can lose a battle when the cards turns against you. Every time you enter the dungeon your hero has first level, only thing that they keep are "scars" which gives them advantages or disadvantages. Still have to get the achievement for 10 battles with single Chump... I think my highest was 6. And I don't talk about the no death one. XD
The whole game is really funny, with its silly songs and narrator. Music is pretty good also, graphic design is simple but suits the game well! Oh, I noticed that there are some story DLCs too, keeping my eye on them. :)
I remember how I played Luxor on my college.... apparently I have forgot how I hated it. XD The first levels are easy and great, you feel awesome for being able to complete the stage without losing any of your lives, but then it gets more serious and very hard. Graphics are nice, I even enjoyed the music, but I like simple Match-3 games more. Glad that it's behind me, but still have one more to do. ;)
I enjoyed this casual and relaxing Match-3 game. The music was very good too. I liked the principle of rotating the game board, it added new touch to it. ;)
This game really surprised me! There was a lot of action which you don't really anticipate in hidden object games, it felt more like some adventure game. Also lot of puzzles and mini-games through the game, even the hidden object ones were done slightly differently than I am accustomed. Voice acting was very good and story was rather interesting. You play as supernatural detective Adam Wolfe who is searching for his lost sister. In the meantime you solve cases which are nicely connected to each other and slowly uncover the truth behind his sister disappearance. The game is divided into chapters, each one is set on different case. They are really well done and I wanted to know more - what is happening, who is behind it and so on!
Shame is, that the ending is clearly leading to a sequel, but it doesn't seem like it will ever get done. It would be nice to continue in the story, but other than that it's very good game, one of the best HOGs I played, can only recommend. :)
Mission completed, all friends saved. :)
More to read in my July post, nothing changed from then. ;)
So it's done. Earth was saved, all villians got captured, all heroes were collected and everything in our way was SMASHED!!! Right Hulk? ;)
Great experience! Best in coop. Now we are sad that it ended, so I urgently need the second game. ;D Luckily I have few other Lego games in my library. :)
Okay, so I decided for the last Pantheon. During August I practiced on the individual bosses that were in it and in the end I managed to get to the last one for the first time... and then I started practicing some more! :D
I missed some good old building strategies and I think that Tropico is really good one! Very very very hard one, but still great. I am just at the beginning, but each of the maps I play I had to do like three times to succeed at all. XD
Added one from Tesla Effect. :)
Anton Sokolov ; Aliena | B | C | D | E | F |
Grimm ; Garrus Vakarian | Hornet | I | Jack | K | Legion |
Mata Hari | N | The Outsider | P | Quirrel | R |
Saren Arterius | Tex Murphy | U | V | Wrex Urdnot | X |

I won Tropico Trilogy in Playing Appreciated, Yay! Strange thing is that the third game is counting it's progress through the DLC even though I click on main game to play. o.O
Big thank you for my wins! :)
New addition.- So for the purpose of this list, only games marked as completed counts - until said otherwise.
- Games can be played in whichever order.
- Unfinished games will be restarted or continued.

I’m just glad technology is finally at the level where you can have FMV adventures without going blind. Days of interlaced videos and multiple disks you had to swap between for areas are not something I look fondly on. Tesla Effect looks great.
Oh yes, disk swapping, that required some skill. ;D I remember it mostly with old Altantis… ahhh, such nostalgic feeling. :3
I have really enjoyed Tesla Effect. The story was interesting and well written, also there were many Easter eggs hidden through the game that refreshed it nicely. Can really recommend it. ;)
Oh and I found out that the old games are even on Steam, now I will have hard time deciding where to buy. XD
Ehhh I should finally play ME3, I still have saves from ME1 & ME2 but it’s been so long that I would probably replay first two games anyway. Happy to hear you enjoy ME3! And I love that pic of the whole crew on the couch, I remember a similar scene at the end of ME2 where your whole crew was with you on the ship ready to face the big bad memers (i forgot what they were called lol) with epic music in background and then camera switched to their ships heading towards earth, i think? Anyway that got me so hyped for ME3 but never got around to play it :(
And good luck with the last Pantheon, that shit is hard.
You totally should play again whole Mass Effect!! :D
Yes, and you have more moments like that through the whole suicidal mission! ;) I really like ME3 and you should try it someday, there are some differences but the atmosphere is still great! Especially the crew interaction is awesome!! :3
Well, actually as this is August update, I already made some progress on that. ;) If you don’t mean the Pantheon of Hallownest of course, that one need to wait some more till the day I decide to torture myself and actually try it. XD
Edit: And the bad memers are Collectors, I forgot to add. XD You see one of them in the first pic. ;)
I also quite liked Luxor way back when, but when I played through it last year I forgot just how stupidly hard the later levels get.
Yeah, stupidly hard, that’s the word I searched for! XD
