Legend of Grimrock 2

After 4 years of having left this game unplayed i decided to finish it up once and for all, i was stuck in a puzzle and decided i should start over again but wanted to see where i was before. And after less than an hour playing i reached the final boss, i was really close before hahah
Anyway its a good game, the first one was my introduction into Dungeon Crawlers and really liked it. This is the same but better, more items, larger more developed map and areas and really good lore.

Life is Strange: True Colors

I like life is strange games (life are strange?) this one is no different, they are well written, nice looking simple point and click adventure games. If you like young adult superanatural stories they are for you, i think this is my least favorite one tho, not that there’s anything wrong with it, just didn’t resonate that much with me, but mostly is too short so i think neither the characters nor the story developed as much as they needed too.

Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch™ Remastered

Amazing RPG with a mixture of Pokemon/Shin Megami Tensei and fantasy rpg’s mechanics with an interesting story and beautiful art by Ghibli, i can’t recommend it enough if that sounds like your thing,

Steelrising

Ah another Spiders’ game, now i only have Faery - Legends of Avalon left to play and will probably do it before Greedfall 2 comes out.

As for steelrising, it’s a pretty good soulslike with a unique setting, a clockworkpunk (?) victorian france, it’s pretty well paced but a bit easy, the story is interesting but the game is kinda bad at letting you know if something will prevent you from advancing the story, some of it is bugs and some of it seems planned, still i had lots of fun with it battling some really cool enemies with fun weapons i’ll probably play some other soulslike soon

Forgive Me Father

Really good boomer shooter, lovecraftian themes always draw me in but the game itself made me stay, its fun, frantic, and really filled with cosmic horror. It has a lot of pop culture references and the music is great. Amazing game to zone out and kill stuff, can’t wait to get the sequel

The Pale Beyond

Amazing game, survival resource management visual novel hybrid, it tells a really great story about an expedition to the arctic, it manages to be really well balanced while always keeping you tense and preparing for the worst, the story it tells and the characters in it are really well written and the art is excellent, i wholly recommend this

Faery - Legends of Avalon

COMPLETED!
First game made by Spiders, I really like them and all of their games trace their roots to this one game, before this they only made console versions for other company’s games but this is their first rpg. It’s all there, the interesting settings, companions with a likeness meter towards you, and even the writing style, but it’s pretty lackluster; no voice acting, small levels, short and uninteresting missions. In general I don’t recommend it, for me in particular it’s a good experience as a fan of the company and seeing how their style started. But it has something really cool, because it’s a fairy game where you spend the whole of the game flying so it has a lot of verticality in its levels and moving around was really fun after understanding it.
EDIT: Had to add the achivments through Steam Achivment Manager, as for this game to work in modern PCs it needs a patch that for some reason deactivates achivments

Wow, some good stuff there. I’ve only played the first two LiS games (the original and BTS) but the other two are in my backlog. Really looking forward to playing them. The Pale Beyond is also in my alt’s backlog. It looks like one of those games where I won’t want anybody to die but it will be unavoidable. Sadface. Faery - Legends of Avalon was maybe the first RPG I every played with my kids (them watching, me playing) when they were about to turn 4 years old. Good memories, and a fun game.

And then there’s Legend of Grimrock 2. I started the first one way back in 2012 then abandoned it early on (I don’t recall why), then finally revisited it in spring 2021 and completed it except for hard/oldschool mode. Love me a good dungeon crawler! When I saw your post last night, I vaguely remembered that I have LoG2 somewhere (not on Steam), and sure enough it turns out I have a Humble DRM-free build from way back. So at about midnight last night I installed it, and without a ton of planning, reading wikis, or anything, I just kinda took it for a spin. Usually I research builds and stuff, plan party progression, etc. Anyway, I was later surprised to hear the sound of birds chirping as I’d played until 5:45 without a pause. I’m waaaaay past the years of doing crap like that, but there you have it. So…thank you? :D

Life is strange 2 is my favorite one, give it a play, the one that was just announced also looks great.
As for The Pale Beyond i didn’t have that many people dying and i didn’t use any guides (mostly because there aren’t any hahaha) but yes, the tension was there, you can always go back and try again, it has a pretty good save system.
TBH i wasn’t expecting any response for Faery, glad to see someone else that played and enjoyed it, seems like a cool game to play with kids, fairy tale stuff and all.
Glad to have made you go back to LoG2 it was great for me, i played both in old school mode but didn’t complete the rest of the achivments. Love a good dungeon crawler too, I think i’ll grab Vaporum at some point

Trent

Thanks for the reply. Vaporum looks intense! Too intense for me. ;)

Congratulations! I also abandoned Legend of Grimrock (the first one) halfway a while back. I often feel tempted to get back to it, but also feel I will have to start over from the beginning, because I don’t remember anything. But your report makes me think that maybe not, we’ll see…

leonidas56

if you weren’t playing in old school mode (no auto generated map) you should be okay, if you start mid game with no map you will be really lost

Yekhus

That’s a good point! I think that I was not in old school (drawing my old map would be cute, but such a hassle!), but I’ll have to check.
