March 2020 Progress
Finished games:
At first I thought I wouldn't like Bastion's gameplay but then I realized that it's very similar to Transistor, which I loved. Eventually I managed to snag the game in a bundle.
The game got me hooked from the very beginning. I really liked to listen to the narrator - his voice and the way he narrates the story to you seems perfect. The story itself is unique and intriguing. Gameplay maybe isn't as deep as Transistor but it wasn't any less fun. It's fairly easy and those seeking a challenge can use the idol system to make the game harder in exchange for increased XP gain. The game looks stunning, even for today's standards. Soundtrack is top-notch, too - I've lost count of how many times I've listened to the vocal tracks. My only nitpick was that sometimes the narrator would speak mid-fight and I couldn't focus on both at the same time.
Bastion was way better than I expected. It was definitely worth my time and I wouldn't mind paying full price for it. Highly recommended.

Unfinished games:
- Still not done with Mass Effect yet. Combat is more fun now that I’ve learned how it works.
- 11-11 Memories Retold looks very beautiful. I kind of wish it wasn’t that blurry, though.
- Haven’t played Hacknet too much yet, but it seems fun. I can finally put all of that CMD and terminal practice to good use!
- Honestly I didn’t expect much of Kathy Rain, but it turned out to be better than I expected.
- I completed the 1 territory added this month in CSD3. Back to waiting for more.
Next up:
- I won’t really have too much time for gaming next month so I’ll start only one game: Max Payne 2, so I can prepare myself for 3 once I manage to get a new PC.
Current progress
does not include games from the "won't play" list and non-Steam backlogs
Notes
My school closed mid-March so I found myself with lots of free time. Managed to get a lot of progress on the backlog, but the next month won’t be as good.
I’ve started saving up for a new PC, since my old potato just doesn’t cut it anymore. I’m not exactly a man with a fortune, so I’ve decided to set up a portfolio and look for some paid web dev tasks online to get some extra money for the build, which means that this month I won’t be fighting the backlog as much as before. If all goes well, I’ll finally be able to play at 1080p 60FPS high/ultra…
On an ending note, I would like to thank samwise84 for picking games for the current Challenge Me, those were some cool picks :)
I love Bastion! <3 One of the best narration ever! But I have the same problem as you, when is there some action and text I can’t concentrate on it properly. XD But this is my problem in most of games I play. When I then watch my soulmate play I am surprised by how many things I actually miss. ;)
But I usually play most games few times, so it’s okay I think. ;)
I see you have enjoyed Wonder Boy, I am getting really tempted for it. ;) Oh, Murdered, it’s one of mi picks in PoP, can’t wait. ;)
Good luck with your work!
Almost forgot, nice update, guhuhu can’t wait to integrate that sweet hero panel to my report!!! <3
Ahhh so I’m not the only one, then! Yeah on my second playthrough I didn’t miss as much as before since I didn’t have to pay much attention to combat.
If you like retro games then certainly go for Wonder Boy! I blame Arbiter Libera for convincing me to play it and I have zero regrets. Just don’t be like the dumbass I am and don’t start your first playthrough on Hard unless you’re seeking a real challenge because that time limit in the first 1/3 of the game is CRUEL. But it’s not so bad once you extend your life meter.
Have fun with Murdered! It’s really good, the story intrigued me and gameplay itself was mostly fine but the stealth sections felt like just an annoyance.
Glad to hear you like the hero panel, can’t wait to see it :)
I think that Arbiter Libera has pointed it to many players. XD
Hahaha, I start on normal to learn the game first and then I think about going for hard. X)
You are not the first one to mention the stealth section to be an annoyance, I enjoy stealth games so I wonder how I will like it. ;)
I didn’t have time to check it properly yesterday, but it’s great! And you can even put custom image! Ah, so many possibilities!! I can’t choose which game should receive the honor. If I could I would just put every game there! XD But I am not sure if I wouldn’t be spamming the place with it. XD
Great work!
The thing about the stealth sections is that the game doesn’t add any new mechanics to it after they introduce you to the sections (save for one which you use, like, 2 times in a whole playthrough).
I wish I could put a lot of these too but then I would have to write a review for every single one of them xD
First of all, great work with the BLAEO-generator. I never really took the time to go over all the changes you did in the second version, but now I did and they all seem like great and sensible additions :)
Bastion was a really interesting game. I wasn’t too sure about it at first either, but it quickly grew on me. I think the narrator is great, yeah. I didn’t manage to get every achievement in it though, which still bugs me a bit. Maybe I’ll revisit it some day, but I’m saying that about a lot of games…
Max Payne 2 was a decent game, have fun with it. And I hope you’ll find enough work to pay for a new PC!
Thanks!! I’m glad I could finally release v2.0, it was stuck in the beta for so long ahah
Those 4 achievements you have left don’t take too long to get. The dream ones aren’t that hard when you’re level 10 and use the right equipment. The 1 million points one can be gained easily simply by completing the dreams, IIRC I got at least 1 million points on Stranger’s dream alone.
There are quite a few games I would like to return to, either for achievement cleanup or just replaying the story in another fashion. But even with the lockdown, there just doesn’t ever seem to be enough time. So it’s definitely good to know they can (or at least should) be done rather quickly. I remember I tried them once or twice but didn’t have the stamina to go on. I suck at such games though, which was probably the reason for that.
Yeah, I get you. There are a few games that I want to replay too. Deus Ex Human Revolution’s been taunting me since forever.
