Week of Oct 15 - Oct 21

Hey everyone! Back again with another weekly report. Hope last week has been great for you.

Here’s what I’ve been up to last week:

  • Midvinter: Completed 100%. A short point & click adventure game, based on Norse mythology (I think?). Not half bad. Easy 100%.
  • Polyology: Completed 100%. A short puzzle game where you slide boxes and make them touch boxes of the same number. Some puzzles are challenging, but overall it’s not that complicated.
  • Super Star: A character sim where you educate your star girl and make her climb up the ranks to become a super star. A regular simulator, not much to talk about. Need to complete the game twice (to get permanent bonus items) before you move on to getting achievements.
  • Alien Attack in Space: Completed 100%. Previously known as ZVEZDOLIOTIK. Needed to replay as they added one achievement after I completed it 100% before. Needed to beat the first boss on every color palette there is. Wasn’t difficult.

“Play Games or Make a GA” progress:

Game Status
STAR WARS™ - Knights of the Old Republic™ Playing. Since I still have time until the deadline, I started this as well. Too bad it doesn’t have widescreen support. Playing as a Pilot, rolled a rather average character now that I think about it, and making my progress through Taris.
Dishonored Finished. Shame I didn’t play this before, it was shorter than I expected. I got a Bioshock vibe out of it. Played as stealthily as I could, though at first I thought Weepers were like zombies and that we could kill them, and I thought sleep darts were poison darts, so not only I screwed myself out of a kill-free run, but I spent half of the game trying to blink my way past enemies since I didn’t know I could just knock them out with the sleep darts. Mainly used Dark Vision and Blink, with points in Agility as well. Thought of giving points to Bend Time as well, but didn’t like the high mana cost. Finished the main story with low Chaos in about 8 hours. Planning on playing the DLC, as well as replaying old missions to attempt a 0-kill undetected run. Does it count if you replay only the missions you didn’t get ghost and no kill before, or do you have to restart the entire game?
Valiant Hearts: The Great War™ Finished. As far as adventure games go, this one was a different take with platformer elements, various puzzles and autoscroller sections. The story is good enough to pull you in at first, but you experience everything the game has to offer in the first hour, and after that, it’s the same thing over and over. Pursuing Baron von Dorf, the main antagonist, over battlefields, war-torn villages and tank factories is well enough intriguing for the player to keep playing, but after finally catching von Dorf, the story hangs somewhat in the air, as the main goal is completed. The rest is more like a unsatisfactory filler to tie loose ends. I admit, I didn’t have my hopes up for a good ending as this game is based on World War I, but it could use more of a closure.

Last week’s game nights:

Day Game
Oct 15 - Saturday Town of Salem - Skipped.
Oct 19 - Wednesday McDROID - Attempted playing co-op. The game gets really buggy when two players of different campaign progression play together, so we played two or three levels before the bugs got frustrating enough to call it quits.
Oct 21 - Friday Left 4 Dead 2 - Skipped, didn’t have it installed.

Last week’s boosted co-op objectives:

Date Game Objective Result
Oct 15 Tabletop Simulator Fluxx Participator - Participate in a game of Fluxx Failed: People played game night instead.
Oct 16 Pressure Hectic Racer - Complete a race Failed: No one wanted to play.
Oct 17 Sol Survivor Survivor Reviver - Last 30 minutes in survival (any map) Failed: Attempted three times on different multiplayer-only maps. Multiplayer maps usually have wider lanes, making short ranged towers like tesla coils useless. Couldn’t get a good setup going, and failed before we could reach 30 mins.
Oct 18 Daedalus - No Escape Top Down Fragger - Play for an hour (rounded up) Completed: Online servers are empty, and playing with 2-3 bots on large maps gets boring real quick. Still reached 1 hour.
Oct 19 Faeria Card Fairy - Complete a game against another TAP member Completed: Played one match. Won, but barely. Interesting game.
Oct 20 Tabletop Simulator Mike Cho Riding Sparky On A Sandy Beach - Win a game of Dead of Winter Failed: Was busy.
Oct 21 F1 RACE STARS™ F1 Race Stars, Alt F4 Losers - Finish a race Failed: No one wanted to play.

Week of Oct 8 - Oct 14

Hey everyone! Back again with another weekly report. Hope last week has been great for you.

Here’s what I’ve been up to last week:

  • McDROID: Completed 100%. The game becomes quite easy after you learn the ropes. Getting survival achievements was boring. Game’s buggy as hell in co-op, and I’ve had huge frame drops on single player sometimes for some reason.
  • The Magical Silence: Completed 100%. Well, there isn’t much to say. You help a dog (guy?) commit suicide.
  • Moon Colonization Project: Completed(?) 100%. I think the aim of this game is to make a self-sustaining colony on the moon, but I am not sure about how the game proceeds. Oh well, easy achievements.
  • KickHim: Whack-a-mole. ‘nuff said.

So, there’s this inter-group challenge called “Play Games or Make a GA” I’m participating in. The goal is to play one of three never played games from your library before November 6. A random participant picked the games I’m to play, and I picked games for some other random participant. I’m going to post my progress on those three games as well until we reach the deadline.

Game Status
STAR WARS™ - Knights of the Old Republic™ On hold. Kind of thinking about skipping this as I’ve played and finished KotOR before, just not on Steam. I could’ve started over if the game had achievements, but currently there is no incentive for me to replay, though I might do that if I’m done with the other two and there’s still time.
Dishonored On hold. Will start once I’m done with Valiant Hearts.
Valiant Hearts: The Great War™ Playing. I’m near the middle of the game. The gameplay was entertaining at first, but it has become repetitive and bland rather quickly.

Last week’s game nights:

Day Game
Oct 8 - Saturday Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide - Continued on the campaign. I think I’m starting to get the hang of it with the Wayfarer.
Oct 12 - Wednesday Tabletop Simulator - Played a game of Pandemic. Lost the game to Outbreaks. Cured black though.
Oct 14 - Friday Town of Salem - Skipped.

Last week’s boosted co-op objectives:

Date Game Objective Result
Oct 8 Tabletop Simulator Jenny Clark is NUTS! - Play a game of Dead of Winter Failed: Played game night instead.
Oct 9 Talisman: Digital Edition To The Tower! - Complete a game (playing this in Tabletop Simulator is suitable) Failed: Was busy.
Oct 10 Tabletop Simulator Jenny Clark is NUTS! - Play a game of Dead of Winter Failed: Was busy.
Oct 11 Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes Match-3 Showdown - Complete a competitive game Completed-ish: Played a challenging 1v1 game as Ludmilla. Was about to deliver the final blow when Steam hanged and I got disconnected from the game. Still, objective was counted as done.
Oct 12 Tabletop Simulator Looting Atlantis - Complete a game of Forbidden Island Failed: Played game night instead.
Oct 13 Magic 2014 — Duels of the Planeswalkers Twofer - Play a game of two-headed giants (any Magic game with the two headed giant game mode is suitable) Completed: Played 2v2. Got rekt again by Kataztrophik’s OP deck.
Oct 14 Age of Empires II HD Age of Wololo - Complete a game (Age of Mythology is suitable) Completed: Played a 3v3 hard game on Team Islands. Despite having to defend against amphibious assaults mid-game, we steamrolled later and won.

Week of Oct 1 - Oct 7

Hey everyone! Back again with another weekly report. Hope last week has been great for you.

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:

  • DiRT Showdown: Been attending some grinding sessions for reaching Lv.30 in multiplayer.
  • True or False: Completed 100%. Easy achievements. Not exactly a “game”.
  • Ancient Planet: Attempting 100%. Some levels are particularly hard. Some waves overwhelm instantly unless you have a very specific tower setup. Slowly getting there though.
  • Zup!: Completed 100%. Easy & numerous achievements. Click boxes to make them explode. Took only 0.2hrs.
  • simian.interface++: Completed 100%. Easy achievements. Not much different than it’s Flash counterpart.
  • SquareCells: Attempting 100%. Last levels are hard, and are taking quite some time. It’s a nice puzzle game though, as expected from the dev(s) of Hexcells.
  • McDROID: This is a very fun game, a different take on TD games. Although it’s quite buggy, it can be a blast when played in co-op.

Last week’s game nights:

Day Game
Saturday F.E.A.R. 3 - Played mostly Contractions in two groups of four. Was fun. I was sad to see that I’ve lost all my F.E.A.R. 3 progress.
Wednesday Post Apocalyptic Mayhem - Instead of doing regular races we played Total Mayhem on every map for 5 minutes each. Had a group of 5. The game tends to overvalue kills over laps though.
Friday Magic the Gathering - After half an hour of game issues, we decided on playing Two Headed Giant mode on Magic Duels. I got rekt on first match, playing with an AI partner against two human players with a starter deck. Second match was with 4 human players and was more balanced. Won that one (got carried).

Last week’s boosted co-op objectives. This week was fruitful if I may say.

Date Game Objective Result
Oct 1 Depth Jaws of Duty - Play an hour of Depth (rounded up) Completed: First time playing this game. I really liked the concept, though the games tend to be very short due to the ticket system. I have nothing against tickets in multiplayer games, though 30 seemed a little low. Different shark types, traits, weapons and weapon upgrades keep the game exciting for a while, but the same go-to-A, guard-B gameplay gets boring after a while.
Oct 2 Frozen Synapse Mail-In Objective - Finish a game Failed: Not going to play before I figure out the game.
Oct 3 Worms Revolution Wormageddon - Complete a game (any standard Worms game is suitable) Completed: Played two 1v1 versus games on Intermediate settings with 45 secs turn time. Ninja rope handles more like a bungee rope in this game, which is hard to control if you’re used to how it is in previous Worms games. It was fun though.
Oct 4 Viscera Cleanup Detail Someone’s Gotta Do It - Complete a level (other Viscera Cleanup games are suitable) Completed: Cleaned one small map and the janitor’s office. We tried to clean everything we can, but got a 98% performance rating at the end. The physics engine tends to be all over the place on multiplayer games, so cleaning is challenging, but is still very fun when done in a party. We played (and got frustrated) in a four player party.
Oct 5 Post Apocalyptic Mayhem Savage! Racer - Complete two races (3 laps or more) Completed: Thanks to RNG gods this boosted objective coincided with game night! Because we played Total Mayhem not all races were completed with over 3 laps, but objective was achieved anyway.
Oct 6 Magic 2014 — Duels of the Planeswalkers Chandra, Liliana, and Nissa Walk Into A Bar… - Participate in a four player free-for-all (any Magic game with the free-for-all mode is suitable) Failed: Was busy.
Oct 7 Rock of Ages Adventures of HNG - Complete a game Completed: Played 8 different maps in battle mode (or w/e the default mode is called). Won them all. Hur hur hur.

Week of Sep 24 - Sep 30

Hey everyone! Hope last week has been great for you.

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:

  • Bedlam: Finished it 100%. Fun game. It only takes 4 hours so I’d recommend you guys check it out.
  • Age of Steel: Recharge: Attempting at 100% completion. It’s broken, unbalanced and filled with translational errors. If you like base defense games, I’d recommend Aeon Command instead.
  • Sanctum 2: Doing all DLC maps. It goes slow but we’re making good progress so far. I’ll probably go back and attempt all again with all feats of strength enabled after I’ve done all of them.
  • Approaching Blocks: Checking this game out if it’s an easy 100%. It’s simple enough; avoid blocks while listening to the beat.
  • Damn virgins: I’ve started this game, but… WHAT THE HELL IS THIS GAME??? O_o

Last week’s game nights:

Day Game
Saturday Town of Salem / Age of Empires 2 - We played AoEII with 6 players against two hard original AIs. (This is a repetition of what I wrote last week, I write these reports with a two-days delay so things get mixed up sometimes.)
Wednesday Paladins - Played one casual match as Grohk. Got a 29 kill streak. :/
Friday Payday 2 - Did a heist where you need to modify and then steal a motorcycle I think? Friday’s game night is too late for me to attend to so I played only one game.

Here’s last week’s boosted co-op objectives.

Date Game Objective Result
Sep 24 Ultimate Chicken Horse Ultimate Brawk Neigh - Play three matches Failed: Don’t own the game.
Sep 25 Lethal League Hardcore P0ng - Play a best of five set of games with a TAP member Completed: Won 3-2. Probably the only game where I was able to bunt a ball with a speed >1000.
Sep 26 OreLight OreFight! - Play for an hour (rounded up) Failed: Don’t own the game.
Sep 27 Post Apocalyptic Mayhem Savage! Racer - Complete a race (3 laps or more) Completed: Played with a party of 5 players. I really like this game’s handling of boost, where you get less and less boost when you’re in or close to 1st place.
Sep 28 Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide Bad Rats Must Die - Finish a map on hard Failed: I’m too much of a scrub to win it on hard.
Sep 29 Zombie Army Trilogy Zombie Boss - Complete an episode Failed: An episode consists of 5 chapters. We did the second and third chapters of episode I, but was too tired to go on after that.
Sep 30 Sid Meier’s Civilization® V I Declare War! - Complete a campaign (co-op versus bots or multiplayer) Failed: A good campaign would take at least 2 hours minimum, and we didn’t have enough time to spare to that.

Keep in mind that these objectives are meant to be completed by playing the games like they’re supposed to be played. We could just rush through against highest difficulty AI on Civ V or AI War, lose in 10 minutes and call it a day, but there’s no point in doing that.

Week of Sep 17 - Sep 23

Hey everyone! Hope last week has been great for you.

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:

  • Age of Empires 2: We played this week as well. Because the group I play with ranges in proficiency, we usually play against bots as a team. Last game we played 6v2 against Hard Original AIs. We beat them, but I was mildly concerned when the bots started building barracks and castles close to my base.
  • Zombie Army Trilogy: Played first level of first campaign on Marksman. Got all the bottles. Need people to play with to complete the game on Expert.
  • Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide: Played a level or two on Normal. This was my first time playing the game, and I’m not very good at melee based FPS games, so I got carried a lot. It was fun though. Trueshot bow is really good at killing special rats.
  • 100% Orange Juice: Played with some people at The QUIPS. Played as Marc and Kyousuke. I was too sexy for my shirt.
  • Bedlam: Started playing Bedlam. It’s not a masterpiece but I’ve been enjoying it so far. Jumping between different types of FPS is an interesting idea to say the least. I’m at 20/24 after 3 hours of playing and will probably 100% it soon enough.

Here’s last week’s boosted co-op objectives. Unfortunately we didn’t get to complete much this week.

Date Game Objective Result
Sep 17 Sanctum 2 DLC Extras - Complete a DLC level not yet beaten by Monukai Failed: Monukai didn’t have the time to play it that day.
Sep 18 Post Apocalyptic Mayhem Savage! Racer - Complete a race (3 laps or more) Completed: Done 8 races with a group of 5. It was fun, though getting stalled by a one lap behind bot and falling to second or third place was frustrating at times.
Sep 19 AI War: Fleet Command Fleet General Monu - Finish a campaign (win or lose) Failed: Arcen games have a tendency to be way too complicated for me to follow without proper training, and AFAIK AI War takes quite some time, so I did not attempt it.
Sep 20 Bombing Bastards Almost Bomberman - Play for an hour (rounded up) Failed: We decided to play something else.
Sep 21 Frozen Synapse Mail-In Objective - Finish a game Failed: I haven’t properly played Frozen Synapse before, and I know this type of turn based games take long, so I skipped it.
Sep 22 Bombing Bastards Almost Bomberman - Play for an hour (rounded up) Failed: Because boosted objectives are selected at random, this came up a second time this week. Like before, we decided to play something else.
Sep 23 Hearthstone For The Alliance! - Play five games of Hearthstone Failed: Wasn’t interested.

Hey everyone! Long time listener, first time poster. From now on I will post (or at least try to) my progress every week. My posts will include a section about daily objectives from The After Party, a co-op oriented group consisting SG veterans mostly. Feel free to join us in chat or on game nights!

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:

  • Killing Floor 2: This weekend is double XP weekend. Now’s the time to grind some XP for those perks you barely / never choose, so that’s what I’m doing. I’m usually joining servers for perk farming to level up. It may not be morally right, but I’m too shit to level up through regular survival.

  • Age of Empires 2: Been playing with friends over at The After Party for a few nights. Opportunity to get my online games / wins count up. This game will probably take years to get 100% cheeves but slow and steady wins the race.

  • Path of Exile: Started playing PoE with the beginning of the new Essence league. For those who never played PoE, essence leagues (from what I gather) are separate worlds that enhance gameplay through the addition of essences, which improve your gear when used on, and essence mobs, powerful creatures that drop them. For a free to play game it’s quite well done. I’ve moved up to Cruel with my Lv.53 Deadeye, and am planning to finish the game on Merciless with at least one character. I will stay away from Hardcore (permadeath) leagues though, so no 100% cheeves in this one.

  • 100% Orange Juice: Attempted to move further in single player campaign, but this game’s RNG and bots focusing you makes it more frustrating than fun. Been able to complete 2nd level after an hour though.

  • FORCED: Worked on some challenges and time trials to get my crystals up to 40 (read below), but I’ll probably stop after beating the last boss as I have neither the patience nor the energy to complete all challenges and time trials.

Here’s last week’s boosted co-op objectives:

Date Game Objective Result
Sep 10 Lethal League Hardcore P0ng - Play a best of five set of games with a TAP member Completed: Won 3-2.
Sep 11 Sol Survivor Survivor Beginner - Last 15 minutes in survival (any map) Completed: Got to 32 mins in a three player group before I had to leave for a bit. After 20 and 70 minutes, the difficulty of survival increases dramatically, and my partners couldn’t fend off the creeps without me, but we all got the objective.
Sep 12 100% Orange Juice Co-opo Poppo! - Complete a game Completed: Played in a three player group. Lost the game.
Sep 13 Lunar Flight The Lonely Man On The Moon - Help Monukai earn a co-op or competitive achievement Failed: Couldn’t play as I was away from home on Sep 13.
Sep 14 Hero Academy Heroes Must Die! - Complete a game of Hero Academy Failed: No one wanted to play. :(
Sep 15 FORCED Forced Finished - Starting with sector four, finish the game Failed: Started and finished sector four, then realized to fight the last boss you need to have 40 crystals. We both had 28 crystals after fighting the 4th boss, so we couldn’t complete this objective.
Sep 16 D.I.P.R.I.P. Warm Up Just Warming Up - Play for an hour (rounded up) Failed: In case you didn’t know, this game is a vehicle-based multiplayer combat mod for Half-Life 2. Maybe it was popular at the time, but the community is pretty much dead atm. There are no bots in the game either, so couldn’t play it.
