Been playing a lot of Call of Duty games lately, so here goes.

  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

5/5 Awesome game! Still holds up and is one of the best, most original FPS games ever made. This is and will always be a defining classic that changed the direction of FPS gaming both single and muli player (whether some like it or not). Beautiful graphics, fast action, great gunplay, decent story. I love this game still.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

3/5 Series starts getting real poopy around here. This is probably the last good single player experience. Good enough storytelling but really simple and lackluster compared to previous entries. Feels lazy and rushed overall. Multiplayer was a good experience though.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

2/5 This one is bad. The zombies are okay and the multiplayer decent, but just skip the single player. It was painful to play through. The story made no sense and the pacing for the action was terrible. It was a chore to beat. Worst Call of Duty I have played yet.

5/5 Also a great game. More fun to play than the first one but the story gets pretty silly and over the top. It’s fun though so I can’t complain. A roller coaster of action and probably the one I will return to and play the most in the future. Spec Ops is a great addition to add some playtime when you’re finished.

5 of out 5 - Better than the main game. It’s neat to see how this series went from basically Medal of Honor to Call of Duty 2 through this expansion. This one really felt like the more modern Call of Duty games as opposed to the main game which felt pretty archaic. Huge battlefields, large set pieces, tank battles, plane battles, massive war. This one has it all. A little difficult to optimize for modern PCs and I ran into a few bugs and had to cheat to get past a level..Has aged well, way better than the main campaign. Try it.\

Still playing this a lot. The content just gets better and better.

4 out of 5 - Still a really good game, though aged poorly in areas. Takes some fiddling around to get graphics looking right and keybindings correct. Can easily see how this jump started such a huge franchise. Way ahead of its time and well above the competition. There are some frustrating areas that easily make this the hardest one in the franchise but very rewarding for getting through.

5 out of 5 - I really like this series. I’ve also completed the first game. Sometimes a bit frustrating but easy to beat in one sitting. I think I had to cheat once by looking at a walkthrough but most of the puzzles make sense. I highly recommend to gamers that like puzzles/hidden object kind of games. This one had an interesting story which I don’t remember the first one having so it might be a little better.

5/5 I don’t know why, but I really love this Call of Duty game. I think it’s the last one that I truly liked. Good story and interesting set pieces throughout. The action is great as well. Give it a go!

5/5 Second time to play through this game and still love it. Really fun combat. Interesting story. A great conclusion to the series (hopefully). The DLC is a must play. If you haven’t completed the Burial at Sea campaign, then you’re missing out on how it all ends. DLC done right. I love this series and can’t recommend it enough.

4/5 Good atmospheric side scrolling adventure. Very minimalist story that unfolds through your actions. Plays like Limbo meets Out of this World (or Another World if you’re across the pond). Recommend you try it. You’ll know in the first five minutes if you’re going to like the next two hours or not.

4/5 Half-life is a great, classic game that hasn’t really aged well. Playing through it for the first time since 1999, I was surprised by how much of the game I remembered and was disappointed by the parts that I’d forgotten. The best moments of this game were truly amazing for the time and are still pretty neat today. However, this game is mostly a puzzle platformer that is very unclear about where to go and what to do. I was able to get through it without using a guide, but there were some very frustrating rooms and levels that I never want to play again. As far as the updates go, I didn’t notice any bad changes and the upgraded graphics were nice. Worth a play especially if you played the original back in the day.

4/5 Good Lego game. Not the best; not the worst.

4/5 Good little blast of nostalgic action. Fun to play similar to the later Contra games. There are 4 difficulties and lots of weapons, characters, and power-ups to collect. I might be coming back to this game at a later time to get more achievements.

2/5 I completed the Stasis Interrupted DLC. Not all that great. Probably worse than the main storyline if that’s even possible. Got it because I’m a pretty big Alien fan. Huge letdown. It supposedly connects the dots for the main campaign and tries to make sense of the crap story they churned out, but it fails miserably. Not even fun to play but mostly frustrating. Pass.
