Forgot to post my update the other week so here it is.
I finished two SG-Wins (Splasher and Thimbleweed Park) and liked both of them.
Splasher is a fast plattformer that gives you the feeling of a speedruner. It mechanics are awesome and the game is not as hard as it looks in the beginning.
Thimbleweed Park is a classic point and click with strange puzzles and funny characters. Some people complain about the ending but I liked it. Some puzzles where over the top but I guess that’s a must if you try to recreate a classic one.
I also finished two Wadjet Eye Games (Shivah and Primordia). I loves Primordia. The setting, the story… It was awesome. Shiva on the other side… It was okay… Very short and not that hard to beat,
Oh, and I finished Papers Please with the whole family alive. Liked the game back when I started it and it was perfect to play while I was on vacation.
Mar 18 - 2
So it was the Blackwell-Week I guess. :)
After finishing all 5 games I think I enjoyed the first four games a bit more than the last one. But still a good point and click. The ending of the series was okay but could have been better I guess.
Now I’ll move on with Metro Last Night (redux) so when the next game will come out, I’ll be ready.
Mar 18 - 1
That was a good week in gaming. Finished 4 great games so let’s say something about them:
Owlboy
Owlboy was a cool platformer. I really liked the artstyle and music and also the gamemechanics where a nice new thing. Overall they could have done more with the game and the story because some things felt just a bit rushed and the asked fullprice is a bit to much for it.
Wolfenstein 2
That was an awesome ride. Nice gunplay, cool story and (different to other people) I found zero bugs. Will play the DLC too and prob. walk again through the game. The endboss could have been way bigger but that’s just the one thing. Still hope they will going on with this franchise so we can get an awesome ending.
Skylar and Plux
Short but nice 3D-platformer. Felt a bit short but if you like Crash Bandicoot and games like that you will enjoy this too. Would also love to see a second part for this game because after 2h you finish the story.
Blackwell Unbound
Just started the little Game today without thinking of finishing it today but with only 2h it run away. Nice Jazz-Tunes, solid story and puzzles and if you like the 8bit-style and (“crime”)point and click, this game is for you.
Feb 18 - 3
Like the first “The Fall” game the second episode is a great sci-fi adventure. I don’t want to spoil anything. It has a great story and the puzzles are good but not as challenging than in the first one. Will now looking forward to the final episode and hope it will not take again a few years.
Feb 18 - 4
World to the West is a cool 3D-Plattformer in the style of Zelda. It plays in the same universe than Teslagard but you don’t need to play it before to get the whole story. Liked it as much as Teslagard and the bosses where a bit more fun. There are still some collectibles to get but I’m not a hunter :).
I played The Sexy Brutal because I saw some reviews here and thought it might be a nice little game.I was not wrong. The puzzles could be a bit harder and the ending was not that great but overall I enjoyed it.
I think next game will be Owlboy or Wolfenstein 2
Feb 18 - 2
Silencel
When I finished “The Whispered World” I felt that some puzzles are to hard and got stuck some time because I didn’t know what to do at all. In Silence it was more like the difference. The puzzles felt kinda easy and for me a bit to easy. BUT I liked the artwork, the sound and the story. Would have loved to see even a bit more.
Quantum Break
I loved the Idea of mixing real videos with the game and enjoyed the story a lot. They could have done even more cutscenes with the real artists. Till the end this was at least a 9/10 for me. Then the final boss came up and i was a bit upset. I played the whole game on hard and it was good but I could not beat the final boss on hard and had to switch to normal. It was just strange to see where savespots where and all that. Over all still an awesome game that lives from the story.
Jurassic Park
Could also be called Quick-Time-Event Park… Telltale put a bit to much qtes in this game and sometimes there where just wired. Also I had some soundproblems where the voices sometimes where supper quite and seconds later loud or just glitched. Still a good Telltale-Game and if you like the franchise you will enjoy it (as I did).
After finishing Teslagrad I just startet World to the west and till now I enjoy this game a lot. Will prob. take the whole week to finish it but maybe I’ll also find some time for a little point and click or something. Also I downloaded Mafia 3 and Dishonored 2 so I will one of these games start to play next weekend.
Feb 18 - 1
Black - The Fall
Black - The Fall is a puzzle-plattformer in the style of Inside where you try to break out of a totalitarian system.
I liked the steampunk/sovjet mix and the puzzles where not that easy. The only negativ point I saw was the controlling that not felt so tight and direct as in other games of this genre…
Still I would play it again (playtime is more like 5h but I forgot to exit the game yesterday :D)
Tacoma
Tacoma is a Sci-Fi walking simulator where you explore a space station after there was a problem.
You can recreate “Videologs” to find out what happend. There are no puzzles or anything like that in the game so it’s pretty much fast forward.
I enjoyed the story and setting (as you can see in my avatar, my name and my steamprofil I like stuff like that) and the soundtrack was great too…
I’m not sure what to play next. Still have my “3 big ones” with Mafia 3, Dishonored 2 and Quantum Break in my Backlog and maybe I’ll start one of these next weekend but tbh. I would love to play a good looking single-player-first-person-shooter-with-good-story. But… it feels like I already played most of them.
So, i won today a game and since i got home from work today early i just startet it and finished it in one sitting…
So a little update about the last few days:
Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders
- Nice point and click wich reminds me of the first broken sword game. Some puzzles are a bit to easy, some things a bit annoying and the walkingspeed could be a bit faster but overall a nice game with a good ending.
Teslagrad
- I got this game as a gift from someone who thought it might like it and the person was right :) It’s a great plattformer with cool puzzles. The controlling feels a bit strange in the beginning and the bossfights feel a bit displaced but the setting and the world are great and I had a lot of fun.
So…
A little Update from my side since i finished some games
-
Aporia: Beyond The Valley
It’s a bit like Valley that some of you have already played. A Puzzle/Walking-Simulator with some mystic story.
Tbh. I did not like this very much. The Graphic and Sound is fine but the story isn’t well told and the game has some graphicglitches from time to time.
Also I have the feeling that I kinda missed a lot of the puzzles that I just not saw. It’s an open World but I guess you should not follow the paths because then you just miss stuff that you should see. I thought I am an the middle of the Game and than it was over.
I could go back to check out more of it but… I don’t want to. -
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
First thing said: It’s a great game. The World is nice, the soundtrack is awesome and the combat system is great. Also the story is cool.
But: The ending was a bit strange. In numbers it would still be a 8/10… But not my game of the year 17… -
The Fidelio Incident
I would not say it’s as good as Firewatch. Prob. because a lot of story comes through the Notes that you can miss easy… Still nice little game if you like walking-sims. -
Belladonna
Well… It’s a 40min point and click game… It’s okayish I guess…
Backlog is melting :D
As the year goes on I already finished some new games (lucky me)
-
Flood of Light
I started playing this last year already and just needed to finish 5 more levels. (out of 9).
The artstyle is great and I also liked the puzzles. It was only 2€ and these where well spend. -
Prey (2017)
Was hyped about this game on release and didn’t found the time to play it.
Last weekend I jumped in (had friday of) and finished it in ~25h. Awesome game. Nothing more to say.
What is next?
Well, there is still Hellblade, Quantum Break, Mafia 3 and Dishonored 2 in my backlog but I think after Hellblade I’ll first play some smaller game before I jump to Quantum Break.
Wow, I’m on a run!
4 Games finished (at least the story-mode)
- Injustice: Gods Among Us
- Kingdom Classic
- Life is Strange Before the Storm
- Sorry, James.
