Mid-September 2024

Decided to do a quick mid-September update just because I’m afraid I’ll forget what I played or how I liked/disliked them.

Currently Playing:

Mass Effect™ Legendary Edition

I just finished the 1st game of the ME Trilogy and I can say I really enjoyed it. Not a big fan of space-y stories and older graphics but I think this game aged really well, story is interesting and I liked how I don't have to scramble for ammo in this game, I just have to make sure my gun doesn't overheat. I typically play games in normal difficulty but I played this a level higher and it still wasn't hard.
Definitely something I can recommend thus far and I'll keep this updated as I play through the remaining 2 games!

Very fun rogue-lite so far, one of the better ones I've played and I'm really enjoying it. It's not too difficult I think (managed to reach the final boss in my 5th attempt) and definitely something I can recommend for rogue-lite lovers! I'm still in the midst of figuring out how to defeat the final boss but I'll keep you posted (hopefully in October's post)

Very chill game, one of the few games where I don't really have to stress for anything, very little time sensitive events and a very relaxing time before I sleep. Would recommend for a low-commitment game! Nothing too special though but it does remind me of Fantasy Life (iykyk)! Yes, I'm still playing this but definitely not as frequent..

I actually played through this a few years back and couldn't really get into, but thanks to Amitte's suggestion, I gave it another shot. I quite enjoyed it but man my eyes and brain hurt from trying to find discrepancies. Great game, highly recommended and I can see why it has such positive reviews, it's just a little annoying how a decision made on day 10 could affect an outcome on day 20 (as an example). I didn't complete it either but I think I got close enough to the end and I was not in the mood to restart from the earlier days to fix my in game finances.

Played this as a part of PAGYWOSG picks and I quite enjoyed it, it's basically a tactile puzzle game where you interact with a monster head (which exposes the puzzles). Fun, short game and definitely casual and colourful enough to have a good time.

Ahhhh, Coffee Talk… Fun fact was initially, I thought I had no interest in this sort of game but eventually got it in one of the Humble bundles. I remember seeing people saying good things about this and I was looking for something chill to play before I sleep. I really enjoyed this game ngl and now I'm quite excited to get my hands on the sequel (after clearing some of my backlog of course).
I think if you want a chill time and an interesting story, this could be your game as essentially the gameplay is just finding the right ingredients to the coffee you want to make!

Very similar to Metal Hellsinger but this is with a roguelike spinoff. I enjoy roguelike/roguelite games and this is no difference. I did beat the game but that's really all I did, I didn't really try out new characters but I think it's a pretty cool game. Honestly, I felt that the rhythm portion of the game didn't really play a huge part as I don't think I really 'shot' in rhythm, but still managed to beat the game, or maybe I just did it subconsciously. I definitely found this much more forgiving than Metal Hellsinger. I might get back into it in the future though!

I have to say I enjoyed this game much more than I thought I would. It's a really cute puzzle game where you shift around portions of the map to progress, it wasn't too difficult and I would say I enjoyed it quite a bit. The story is very wholesome and the art is absolutely fantastic (hand-drawn)! Music is great as well! Highly recommend if you want something kind of cozy but still kind of puzzle-y.

Fashion Police Squad

Cool game, funny story and interesting dialogues. I'm not the biggest fans of Boomer Shooters but this was pretty fun! It's quite annoying sometimes because of how each characters require a specific gun to defeat but I guess that keeps things interesting! Music is great as well! However, towards the end of the game, I was hoping it would end soon because of the multiple guns I have and the need to constantly change between them for many different characters. (I especially hated it when the DJ and the Bondage dude came together)

Fun and cute. I think this was one of the easier point-and-click puzzle games I played because typically I would need a guide. This was much more straight forward in my opinion and you kinda know what you're looking out for. It had an interesting plot and the art was cute! Recommended if you want to use your brain at 40% capacity.

This game was FUN, I enjoyed playing it while watching a video because it is SO satisfying. Basically, you're a manager of Hell and you try to keep sinners from escaping Hell. It plays like a sort of card game, where you can combine cards to upgrade your structure. Extremely satisfying when it actually comes off and you just start destroying the sinners as if they were mosquitoes. Really enjoyed it much more than I should and I'll be keeping my eyes out for something similar!

Beat it thanks to the recommendation from Amitte, and I really enjoyed it! Pretty chill walking simulator and story was very interesting! Art was beautiful and I can now see why I've always seen people say good things about this! Do give this a try if you enjoy this sort of game like Firewatch!

I liked this game, many guns available to fit your playstyle and story is cute. This is my first Ratchet and Clank game but I think that wasn't an issue, I still had much fun although I did miss out of some references.

I quite liked this game although it does kind of stress me out at times, many ways to complete the level but there's always a best way. I had to drop it however because the game crashed twice on a specific level and I just couldn't give a damn to restart that level again. Surprisingly, it crashed on both my PC and Steam Deck so that's that. I do recommend the game itself but I hope it doesn't crash for yours…
4.5/10 mainly because of the crashes

August 2024

Well well well my 2nd month here and here’s what I’ve played this month! Added quite a few games this month too, along with PS+ Extra so hopefully will get to them soon. Do shoot me some recommendations if you think there’s a game I might enjoy!

Playing through this in parallel with Littlewood and loving it at the moment! It's kind of a wind-down game for me before I go to sleep, plays like a visual novel and essentially the only thing you actually do is make drinks in a cafe.

Great game so far; still in the midst of the final few missions but thoroughly enjoyed the whole story and how the side quests play a small role in the stories. Enjoyed the 1st game but gotta say I'm enjoying the sequel even more! Finished the game a few hours later and I can say I really enjoyed the game, combat was satisfying, although some climbing do bug out at times…

DAVE THE DIVER

28 hours, 26 of 44 achievements

I LOVED THIS GAME! There were so many things to do in the game, and it never felt too much. I liked how it all somehow links to each other and how there's never a point where something gets too boring. I especially enjoyed the diving part which was really cool but I was half hoping the maps were more random? I think currently it's based on 2-3 templates which change once a while. Having a procedural generating ocean post-game might have made it a bit better! Nevertheless, it's still something I recommend for everyone who likes a kind of cozy but also at times challenging game!

Pretty chill gameplay loop, it was ok for me, wouldn't say it's crazy good but it was enjoyable while it lasted. Wouldn't go back to it though.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising

12 hours, 29 of 51 achievements

This was one of the games which I wanted to start since the new game just came out! I thought it was a pretty chill and short JRPG, but still enjoyed it thoroughly. It didn't have anything too special but I liked how it was easy to travel between areas unlike many other JRPGs. The art was pretty solid but combat gets a little stale eventually where there's rarely any special skills and mostly just special attacks. This might be a good intro to JRPGs since it's short and sweet.
7.1/10

Frog Detective 1: The Haunted Island

Short and simple game. Nothing to rave about but I think it's nice in general for a quick wholesome fix.

Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard

I enjoyed this a bit more than the previous one but the whole concept is similar and very wholesome and chill game! Not much detective work, but more like a talking simulator!

Stray Cats in Cozy Town

I love cats, and i love finding hidden objects. I think this was one of the first few "Stray Cats in.." games I played! Highly recommended to wind down after a long day unless you already spent the whole day staring at the screen..

Hmmmm this was alright I think, the combat was pretty nice but it gets a bit repetitive after a while on how to handle certain enemies. Story was underwhelming so I'm somewhat glad it ended when it did.

Ikenfell

(Copied from PoP)
I always enjoy this sort of turn-based RPG and really enjoyed Ikenfell. It gave a little nostalgia of playing Pokemon but just a bit more challenging in terms of having to time your attacks and less on type effectiveness. The music is great and I enjoyed all 16 hours it took me to beat the game. Story is pretty decent as well (nothing too special though)!
Most importantly, it never overstayed its welcome.

(Copied from PoP)
Always wanted to start Blasphemous and glad I finally did! Like I mentioned previously, I suck at MVs but this one was enjoyable even if I died more than I should. I enjoyed the challenging fights especially the last few bosses. The only thing is that I was quite lost throughout since I did not really follow any guide or search up anything related to the game. Managed to finish with the bad ending but I'll keep going for some of the other DLCs until I get too frustrated. One of the better MVs (well balanced for noobs like me) I played and will be looking forward to playing the sequal!

Forgive Me Father

Enjoyed for a good part of it but didn't like how there was no auto-save. There were times where I revisited the same save point but did not manually save, died afterwards and then I had to restart at my last save point. Eventually, it happened too many times and it got to me so I had to drop it. Overall fun game to play but QoL could be improved.

Well eventually had to drop this because it wasn't bringing any fun to me honestly. It felt repetitive and I got really bored of this. Not a bad game to be honest but just not for me and I was pretty excited about it too.

July 2024

My first post here and I’m trying to learn how to format things as nicely as the rest of you so do send some tips! (especially how yall display the banner things)
Also my girlfriend bought me a PS5 for my birthday this month so I think my backlog for PC games is going to clear at an even slower rate now…

Currently Playing:

  • Grow: Song of the Evertree
  • Supermarket Simulator (Technically my girlfriend’s playing this on my account)

Beaten Games this month:

Bayonetta

11.0 hours, 26 of 50 achievements

LOVED this game. As someone who never really dived in the world of Bayonetta, I really enjoyed this game, although it was a little difficult for me at times. Witch Time was extremely satisfying to pull off and being able to upgrade and switch weapons and skills is a huge plus. Also, she's hella hot!!Time to play Bayonetta 2 on my Switch someday soon!

8/10

Overboard!

2.1 hours, 26 of 26 achievements

THIS was fun! I liked how I learn more and more about the story with more deaths (a bit like roguelikes), and how I can use that knowledge in the next run. If you like a bit of a story and mystery, this would be up your alley! I had to look up some guides though for all the achievements…

7/10

Oxenfree

2.4 hours, 4 of 13 achievements

I had been wanting to play this game for a while now and glad that I finally got around to it, I know there are multiple endings but sadly, I've never been someone who enjoys replaying games just to get each of the ending, I would typically just search it up on Youtube if I'm really that interested. Overall, the story is interesting with a few jumpscares here and there!

6/10

Soul Searching

1.8 hours, 2 of 8 achievements

Well, this was an interesting one, I went in with no expectations but I really enjoyed it! It's about a man(?) going on an adventure to find himself. The journey is mainly on a raft where you can upgrade and well, you basically have to try to stay alive and move on to the next island. Surprisingly chill and tells a good story. Would recommend if you don't mind something slow.

6.3/10

The World Next Door

1.7 hours, 14 of 24 achievements

This was alright, I quite like the concept where it's kind of a Candy Crush kinda game? It was pretty short for me but I'm glad that it ended when it did. Won it on SG as well!

5.2/10

Hexologic

2.8 hours, 4 of 11 achievements

I really enjoyed this game. Won it on SG and played it with my girlfriend. As a fan of Sudoku, I quite like the versatility of this game, I enjoyed most of the levels on normal(?) mode but I will return to continue playing it for sure! Highly recommended if you like brain teasers!

7.4/10

Hell Pie

8.5 hours, 20 of 32 achievements

Played mostly on my SD, I liked the game, wasn't really looking to complete this but enjoyed collecting all the ingredients. It really drains the SD's battery though so I played half of it on my PC. I think if you enjoy 3D platformers, this might be something you would enjoy, although it may be a little grotesque at times.

6.5/10

9 Years of Shadows

9.7 hours, 26 of 34 achievements

This was so tiring to play. I'm so bad at MVs and honestly the occasional lack of save points near a boss stage annoyed me so badly. The last boss was also hella annoying, last phase of the boss honestly was just based on luck and whether the sequences of the attacks was in my favour… Some bosses with quite challenging, others were too easy. Enjoyable enough I guess?

6/10

SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell

3.1 hours, 10 of 30 achievements

Initial 70 levels were fun with some challenge but the last 10-12 levels took me way longer than the initial 70 levels took… Terrible at reflexes kind of game like this and MVs but I'm glad it's finally out of my backlog… Extremely stressful towards the end and I was just trying to beat the game…

5.4/10

The Darkside Detective

3.2 hours, 17 of 30 achievements

Usually don't enjoy point and clicks but I enjoyed this one with its humour and puzzle! Highly recommended if you like to piece things together! You play as a detective with another police officer and try to solve other-worldly crimes!

7.4/10

The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark

6.9 hours, 15 of 30 achievements

Enjoyed this even more than the prequel. Fun cases and interesting for sure! Cases make more sense for me and I needed less help than the prequel!

7.8/10

Detroit: Become Human

13.3 hours, no achievements

Disclaimer: Played on the PS5

I enjoy games like these, where I can immerse myself in the game. Sometimes I fear whether androids will actually develop feelings, especially with how AI is progressing. Basically this is a pretty straightforward game where you enjoy perspectives from different androids and basically make decisions that will affect the future. Eventually, the story converges and depending on your choices, you get different endings too. Eventually, you might even interact with the android on your start screen! It was a pretty heavy topic I would say and honestly wouldn't know what to do if androids actually develop consciousness in the future in real life. Nonetheless, the story was great (maybe I just somehow made the right choices) and playing on the PS5 made the game much more interactive (controller's motion control)!

If you like something like LiS, this might be something up your alley (less romance though) It made me think quite a lot and there were some plot twists as well.
Maybe I should start viewing OpenAI as my friend…

First boss is unnecessarily hard??? Graphics was ok and story sort of pulled me in at the start but the combat just wasn't it for me. Couldn't really enjoy it especially after reaching the first boss…

4.3/10

Trials of Mana

1.3 hours, no achievements

Disclaimer: Played on the PS5

I like JRPGs but I couldn't really get into this one. Combat is decent but honestly kind of boring. Story is typical and because it's a remake, nothing really stands out as it's essentially a traditional JRPG. Nothing sets it apart from others and I absolutely hated the voice acting (both English and Japanese) which killed the experience for me. Half of the time felt like it was just me fighting against the boss, and my companions are mostly useless (they don't really dodge attacks). Unfortunately, I dropped this because I couldn't bring myself to keep playing but if you old school JRPGs with a little graphics upgrade, you might enjoy this! (turn off the voice acting though)

3.6/10
