July’s Stats
aka. The shallow dive into the backlog
Hello there fellow assassins.
How have you all been doin’? July’s been pretty hot here so the Steam Deck has been a real backlog saver. I didn’t play as much as I planned to but oh well. I put a lot of hours into a game I didn’t finish yet but that I would define as my game of the summer : Dave the Diver. This turned out to be way better than what I was expecting and perfect for the season. I hope you’re all surviving well the current weather and keep fighting the backlog. See you in a month, stay fresh!

20/23 Challenge Progress (10/23)
Finished this month: 0 (Shame!!)I see you have played Koa. How did you like it? I am not sure if the developers shouldn’t have worked some more on their older games before starting yet another Kickstarter for a new game… Summer in Mara still deserves a little polishing.
Meh. I mean first mistake was mine because i didn’t inform myself well enough before and was expecting something like Summer in Mara (which I loved) and this is… a 3D plateformer, one of my disliked genre. That being said, even for a 3D plateformer I think it comes short (no pun intended) in some aspects. It’s kinda short, kind of easy (even for somebody like me who’s absolutely awful at them I can see it’s on the very easy side) and has a weird HUGE difficulty spike on the last level so I wouldn’t even say it’s good to initiate your kids to VG. I’m not sure what they were exactly aiming for but I was very very underwhelmed.
But hey, it’s very very cute, so there is that, right ?
Ah, sorry to hear that you went through such an ordeal. I suppose the cuteness will be its only merit, which is sad.
Have fun with Dave, lot of people around me are playing it and it looks strangely appealing. ;D
It’s just that it’s a weird balance. It’s not a bad game but it’s hard to recommend when there is better 3D plateformers around (and for people who’ve played all of those it won’t really be challenging).
Dave is exceptionally good, as i was saying above it’s easily my game of the summer and a contestant for my GOTY. I was NOT expecting to love it so much, but it’s hard to put it down. Plus the ambiance is just perfect for the season!
Congratulations on all of your assassinations! …There is a second Oxenfree? Oh boy. I’m still working myself up to start the first one. Congrats on Getting Dave the Diver! Hearing a lot of good things about it.
There is indeed a second Oxenfree and it’s… okay ? If you liked the first one it’s kind right in the same alley but somewhat a bit underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it but I felt it was slighly inferior to the original. Maybe in the pace or in the characters construction or the story, I’m not really sure. Maybe i just had too high expectations.
I really LOVE Dave the Diver on the other hand. I’ve already put 18h into it and it’s my game of the summer (and so far GOTY probably, but we’re only halfway through).
