Update 134: July 2024

I made it back to Germany again. Had a great time meeting all my friends in Denver. So many great memories made, but also really sad to had to go again. Miss them all dearly. Here is a picture of me, my friend Sashi and her dog Perry on my last day in Denver.

It was also my birthday. I’m officially old now -_-
Did not buy anything this summersale and still aquired more than enough games thanks to my bday. My backlog is in tears. Let’s hope August will be a good month for playing games.

Half-Life 2

The Tenants

6/10
34.4 hours

Overall a good game, but it gets tedious quickly. At a certain time the contracts repeat over and over again. Would have been a great game if it were at least 1/3 shorter.

Half-Life 2

Lake

6.5/10

Cute, chill story about a high powered city woman, that goes on vacation in her hometown, swapping in for her dad, who is a mailman. She is spending her vacation delivering the mail in her hometown and (re)aquainting herself with old and new friends.

Only point of contention for me is the sometimes long streches you have to walk at a snails pace and maybe the AI driving the other smalltown cars.

Half-Life 2

ACE COMBAT™7: SKIES UNKNOWN

7/10

Enjoyed this game a lot. You are playing as an unwilling fighter pilot in a war. Each sortie has a preset of enemies in the air, on land and sea that you have to destroy or seriously hamper. Though if you are playing the game I would suggest using a controller, found the controls with kb+m horrible.

Half-Life 2

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

6.5/10

The game played a lot smoother than the first one, though I still do not really get the story line. As a FPS it's nice enough I guess.

Half-Life 2

Family Mysteries: Poisonous Promises

6/10
7.8 hours
20 of 24 achievements

It's a HOG, one of the better ones.

Half-Life 2

Family Mysteries 2: Echoes of Tomorrow

7/10
4.8 hours
24 of 24 achievements

Liked this HOG the best of the trilogy.

Half-Life 2

Family Mysteries 3: Criminal Mindset

6.5/10
5.8 hours
24 of 24 achievements

Better than the first, not as good as the thrid.

Half-Life 2

Wordle

5/10
2.8 hours

Could be an interesting game, I found it personally too difficult in some levels, but then I am not a native speaker. You get a bunch of letters and have to find somewhere between 1-5 different specific words and all you have is a theme like Sports and it can be anything in that theme.

Half-Life 2

Ghost Files 2: Memory of a Crime

6/10
5.6 hours
23 of 23 achievements

Another day, another HOG. Still one of the better ones.

3.15% (51/1619)
54.05% (875/1619)
1.48% (24/1619)

Overall SG Wins Progress:+0,65% change to last times unfinished/never played games (42,42% unfinished games)

31.60% (219/693)
25.54% (177/693)
1.15% (8/693)
41.27% (286/693)
0.43% (3/693)
Here are the games I'm currently working on. Reviews will follow once I'm done with the games:
I've won 10 games and one DLC. And I've got gifted 12 games and 9 DLCs (thank you to all my friends). I've beaten 9 games, so that makes a total of +13 for the month of July. So my yearly count is at +19 games. July sucked even worse for my gaming progress.

SG wins:

Games I want to play within the next few weeks:

PoP: thanks to mateot93 & Lexbya for challenging me Working on DLC's: Trying to compelte another playthrough:
Zelrune

Congratulations on your assassinations!!! ᓚᘏᗢ
Somehow I never realized The Tenants was 30+ hours, I deeply appreciate the warning. Looking forward to seeing how you like Stray and The Inheritance of Crimson Manor!!
Also.. Are you really playing Dragons Dogma this month? I expect to see screenshots on my activity feed, pretty please!!!!!!!!!!!!

samwise84

Yeah it is like bubble gum. It streches… Could have easily made it 50h+ but my time was too valuable to me this month. I already know I will love Stray. Nin thought it was appropriate to gift it to me for my bday since I spend most of the month with 6 cats ^_^
I’m not sure I will find time for Dragons Dogma this month. I have a feeling this will be a whole month long game. And of course if it has nice scenes to shoot there will be screenshots :D

Amitte

Replaying for the endings in Lake is painful as all heck, and I say this as someone who loved the game enough to play it twice (so far).

samwise84

agreed. Honestly I made a save on the last day and just reused that for the other endings. A bit of save scumming.

Amitte

Oh, I said that assuming the strategic save is made :D I can’t imagine playing the whole game through again just for that. I love the atmosphere, but the fact that cutscenes are unskippable puts a damper on it when you want to be done.

samwise84

you are not wrong. Also the walking speed is atrocious. Esepcially the “fast” one

Traqie

I don’t remember if F.E.A.R. 2 had those but in F.E.A.R. listening to all phone messages gave you a lot of backstory. I think F.E.A.R. 2 had documents that you could find, but the story isn’t that complicated, just not told in the best way I guess :)

samwise84

Yeah I could read all the documents, but it’s an FPS, who reads documents in a FPS. Just think they could have explained a bit more in the cut scenes. But again it’s a FPS. Who really cares ^_^
